Chapter 19 BYGONES BE BYGONES

• Be it a dream or a vision, or even some kind of magic, Aires could not tell, but in her unconsciousness, she saw Elena standing before her, disappointed "If it's because of Vanessa that you're pissed off like this, trust me I don't regret it, she deserves every bit of it, I will kill her when I see her again, tell her that" Aires offered her opening statement, Elena shook her head in disbelief, "Are you listening to yourself Aires? You are no different now from the demon that possessed her?" Elena replied, "Look Elena if you won't support me, you can leave me alone and don't insult me" "Shut up and listen to me" Elena bawled, "what happened to you Aires? Tell me I'm here, as your friend, as your sister, I want to understand but don't bullshit me okay, she meant a lot to all of us while she was alive, you think I'm not hurt too? Look Aires, she taught each one of us what we know, it's because of her that I have these abilities, I know that you would have gotten them anyways because you are the Chosen One but that doesn't mean that me, Jason and Vanessa don't appreciate what she did for us, it was her time to die and there's nothing you could have done to save her, magic can do many things Aires, but it has limits too. Why didn't you kill Jason when he was strangling you to death? What's the difference between his state of consciousness and Vanessa's while they were possessed? You don't have to blame somebody just to make you feel better, do you think The Reformer would be pleased to see you do what you did? Even in her last moments she went to help Vanessa, why do you think she did that huh?" Tears began to rush down Elena's cheek at this point " You love her so much but a few seconds after she left you just went about throwing everything she taught you away, is that how to honour someone you love? I'm even afraid to look you in the eye and talk to you now because I'm scared you might try to harm me when I offend you even by mistake " "Elena please don't say that, you know I won't do that to you" humbled Aires pleaded, her hardened heart had finally been softened "No Aires, prevention is better than cure, I don't know what you're capable of anymore" "Elena please I'm sorry, please I'm begging you!" Aires cried "I'm not the one you should apologize to, it should be your innocent recruit that you almost killed" after these words slipped out of her lips, Elena disappeared, for in the real world, it was time for Aires to wake up from her sleep.
• Aires woke up to find herself in her bedroom with Vanessa sitting on a seat next to the mirror. Years began to escape Aires' eyes again , she couldn't believe what had just happened. Vanessa, her close friend, had killed her mentor, the woman who had taught Aires and each member of the Theron Of Evil what they knew.
• But it wasn't Vanessa's fault. She had been possessed by a demon, and had no control over her actions. Aires knew that, but it didn't make the pain any less sharp. She had tried to kill Vanessa in the heat of the moment, but now, sitting alone in the silence, she knew she couldn't do it. She couldn't lose her friend too.
