Chapter 23 Hurdles

  • It was too dark, the leaves from from the many tall trees covered the sky like dark clouds. The air was cooler, making his flesh creep and her body squirm, his arms wrapped around his shoulder. He couldn't complain because it was his home. As usual the silence was haunting. There was no sound or signs of life around. Only the trifling noise of rustling branches and leaves and the howls of the wind.
  • He scampered through the wispy trees, stumbling over stones and roots. Indeed it was his home but he was sure he was still a stranger in danger. Whatever or whoever was in the forest would not recognise him because it was his first time of stepping there.
  • Suddenly, he drew out his sword from its scabbard which was by his waist. The scraping sounds of sharp metal echoed in the silence. He straightened his ears trying to listen carefully. He thought of returning to where he came from but something far away, deep in the forest, was calling to him. He was already walking deeper into dark forest without realizing.
