Chapter 6 Lurking In The Dark!

  • Alpha Orsin had always been hostile towards Alpha Gavin and the Dark-Dawn Pack.
  • There was a time when wolf attacks took the airwaves by storm. There were reports of rural dwellers being attacked by a pack of wolves.
  • There were highway robberies by rogue wolves who had no regard for human life. Rape was a regular among all the ills of the rogues.
  • Counting on their superior strength, the rogues placed the whole country of Greencrest in unnecessary fear and panic.
  • The humans had no idea about the presence of werewolves in their midst and attributed the happenings to a wolf virus, affecting the animals.
  • The chaos remained so until the Dark-Dawn and Blue Fiend Packs came to the rescue.
  • Both the Dark-Dawn and Blue Fiend Packs fought and annexed all other smaller wolf Packs.
  • Therefore, there was enough order in the world of the werewolves.
  • The two Packs under, the lead of the previous alphas, signed a treaty to stay out of each other's business and never cross each other.
  • The spoils of war, including various businesses, properties, and real estate among others, were ceased by the two Packs without any greed surfacing between them.
  • However, Alpha Orsin, after the death of his father, chose to go against the Dark-Dawn Pack, as he had coveted their wealth for a long time.
  • Moreover, before he decided to attack the Dark-Dawn Pack covertly, he suggested a marriage alliance between his sister, Dorothy, and Alpha Gavin.
  • Gavin on the other hand was unwilling to form any marriage alliance and therefore rejected the proposal immediately.
  • Gavin's rejection further made Orsin so angry that, he nearly ordered an all-out war with the Dark-Dawn Pack, on that fateful day.
  • His reason is that Alpha Gavin has disgraced his sister, and thereby brought the reputable Blue Fiend Pack to disrepute.
  • Being the same person who spread the news of the supposed alliance, Orsin never learned his lesson from the rejection but rather became more obstinate.
  • He obviously treated the words of his late father as air. He was cautioned time and again that, "never you attack the Dark-Dawn Pack. They are too strong for us to handle. Always remember this my son, that, the peace the werewolves enjoy today, is because the Dark-Dawn Pack wills it to be so."
  • Orsin's hostility towards the Dark-Dawn Pack only increased after that incident.
  • Gavin could have fulfilled another of Orsin's wishes if it were to the benefit of their people.
  • However, Dorothy was going to serve as a spy in the Dark-Dawn Pack. That was a fact.
  • There is absolutely no reason for Gavin to stake the safety of his Pack on a loose woman who has no value to him.
  • He has always resolved to marry for love, just like his father, and Orsin was not going to spoil his plans due to his insatiable desire for power.
  • One notable thing about the 'purge' as the werewolves call it is that the two sides, through individual agreements, chose certain outstanding police officers to work with.
  • Both the Dark-Dawn and the Blue Fiend Packs worked with their own law enforcers who became big names in their various circles.
  • The two selected enforcers received credit for the purge, one way or the other, and got promoted many times, as a result.
  • The existence of the creatures many could only read in books, or conclude to be a myth, is a sensitive topic that could throw the human race into disarray.
  • Therefore, the discreet handling of the issue.
  • Blue Fiend Pack enslaved most of the rogues who survived the purge.
  • Dark-Dawn Pack, however, inculcated them into their pack and gave them meaningful roles at various levels of engagement. Not forgetting to watch them like hawks.
  • Only the extremely notorious rogues were killed on the spot.
  • The purge was a success.
  • Calm was restored to the country of Greencrest, but a hidden enemy who is unknown to the werewolves still lurks in the darkness.
  • She is still causing havoc, without a care for anything in the world.
  • An opponent who is older than every single person in the country of Greencrest as well as the whole blue planet, matter of factly.
  • The name Rubeetha may not even ring a bell to those who have met her, as she goes by the pseudonym, Bertha.
  • She is an enemy to look out for, in this fight for peace and harmony.
  • ...
  • Lolita rode at top speed throughout the night and arrived at Greenville in the wake of dawn. Throughout her journey, she was in a state of denial and just couldn't accept the current situation. She was supposed to be on this journey with her grandmother, but here she was, all alone and exhausted in this world filled with people. What awaits her in the city was also unknown.
  • Lolita did not have a single wink of sleep for the night. However, she was perfectly fine and showed no sign of sleep deprivation or fatigue.
  • She then headed for the house she had already prepared for herself and Granny Clint.
  • There was five domestic staff in total, all of who were employed by Lolita, so her grandmother would never be lonely any time of the day.
  • Ruby, the head maid, approached Lolita after opening the door for her, and asked, surprised, after seeing Lolita without her grandmother in tow "Welcome!...is granny Clint not coming anymore?"
  • Lolita halted her steps briefly, before resuming and said "no! She couldn't make it!"
  • As she had been in the profession for a long time, the middle-aged housekeeper knew where to draw the line.
  • As a result, she mouthed an "okay!" and excused herself tactfully, without being told.
  • Lolita Clint managed to gain admission to the best university in the whole of Green Crest, at the age of sixteen.
  • She was scheduled to be in medical school, as she realized that medicine comes in quite naturally for her.
  • It was as if, the profession was calling out to her.
  • The elves are very good healers, and Lolita inherited such from the abilities of Annabel, the elf princess.
