- Genovese roared, his finger itching as he paced around the dungeon where he'd had Vincenzo tied, beaten up until he couldn't move without groaning. Genovese had thought the Valquez deaths had been an accident but the call had changed that. It was absurd that Vincenzo had been a mole right under his nose, reporting back to Gabrielle about every little move he made, because of such a breach, he'd had to order for all his men to be tested, cause he didn't know whom Gabrielle had bought with her influence, it was mind-boggling for him because she was just a little girl with the heart of the devil. Genovese also had to step up his security because having no replacement in his old age, and his empire threatened by his granddaughter gave his rivals the guts to try to take over his organization. He'd been hearing rumors, something that was unheard of while Gabrielle managed his business, that was why he'd had to make a hasty decision for a replacement, and what better candidate than Burn Payne, whose name ignited fear in the ears of its hearer, but Burn was unpredictable, always hungry for a kill, he might run his empire right into the ground, or build it into a formidable fortress, that his rival dared not even think about attacking.
- Genovese felt betrayed, Vincenzo had been selected by him for Gabrielle, and yet he'd easily agreed to do her bidding, instead of his. It was insulting, and there was the little brat herself disrespect. Gabrielle was foolish if she thought he could kill him, Burn was close to sniffing her out of her hiding. Genovese couldn't wait for the result. He'd cut her off, and she'd turned into a vindictive rebel, there was no place for her to return to.
- "Kill him, so he serves as an example for all those who think about switching sides and betraying me, gorge out his organs, so we at least make money from the little piece of shit" he ordered the guards who hasted to carry out his order.
