Chapter 5

  • It's my first day in this new environment. Even though we were unwillingly brought here, I can say that most of the girls including I, think it's not as bad as we thought it would be. At least we get to eat enough food, and we don't have to worry about a landlord throwing out our properties and kicking our asses out on a cold morning.
  • "No touching my stuff." Master Jin orders, catching my attention as I turn to see his tall figure leaning against the doorframe. "All you're expected to do is to clean the glasses and make the floor spotless."
  • "Yes Sir." I reply, nodding my head. I quickly pick the glass spray and a piece of wiping towel. "I'm quite good at cleaning Sir, you won't find any lapses in my work."
  • Who asked me? Heck! I feel like I'm running my mouth too much because I've eaten a lot. Through the corner of my eye, I see and hear him snorting as his figure retire through the doorway without adding another word.
  • A sigh of relief find it's way out of my nostrils. I take a mental note to be careful of talking to him unnecessarily. He's a person I must be wary of, if I want to survive in this place.
  • I run my eyes across his dressing room one more time, wondering how a single person can own this amount of clothes and accessories. He's not even a kpop idol, he's just a Mafia son. What will a Mafia son do with all these amount of clothes? He's such a pompous piece of work.
  • But oh, I remember he's also a regular worker, the vice president of Royce Pharmaceuticals. Over the group dinner we had with the girls earlier, the old lady Mrs Choi explained a lot of things to us about the three heirs of the Dante Family who we are all expected to worship their sacred asses.
  • I learned that the youngest of them is Master Jin, who recently turned twenty five. His Italian name is Lorenzo. The second older son is called Tae-ho, and his Italian name is Luca, while the first heir is called Chang, whose Italian name is Marco. But the first doesn't stay in Korea, he travels together with President Matteo Dante Guzman, the empire's leader. I learned that the President's first wife was a Korean, and she passed away after giving birth to Jin. His second wife who he's currently married to, is an Italian, and she's yet to give birth.
  • I think Tae-ho is the one who has his eyes on my Kidneys, they look alike with Jin, but Jin is taller and more physically well built like a sculpture. I hope they don't do undercover Kidney trading business around here. The Mafia are not to be trusted, I've concluded this earlier after learning about the two companies in Korea which operates under the Dante Group — Royce Pharmaceuticals and New Generation Textiles.
  • I'm sure both the Pharmaceuticals and Textiles are all companies that carry out all sorts of dirty undercover activities under a fancy name. They have three casinos and two hotels in Seoul alone, with more hotels in Incheon and Busan cities. The family are a dirty rich people even the authorities must be afraid of messing with.
  • I shake my head and start cleaning the spot on the glass wardrobe which I've sprayed. I'm cleaning the surface even though it looks like it has been cleaned before. Everywhere looks squeaky clean actually, I don't even know why I'm given this work. I think he just hates me. And I hate him too.
  • This is a very wrong environment for a girl like me whose biggest dream is to become a police detective. But what can I do? That scum, Min has sold me out to these people who will rather kill me than to let me walk freely.
  • I've made up my mind to not think of anything else aside from working and gathering money. The old lady said we'll be paid monthly for our efforts so we must do the best of every task we're given. When I gather enough money, I will think about my escape plan and finding Kai —if he hasn't returned home already. I hope he's safe. I hope he will not end up in a bad place wherever he is now.
  • My feet comes into contact with something hard on the floor. I look down and pick the small piece of heavy metal that looks like a shell. Oh my gosh, it can't be a bullet shell can it? But it really looks like a bullet shell. I drop the spray bottle and start observing the bullet shell properly. I feel fascinated, my amateur detective instincts are kicking in.
  • It's a passion.
  • "Hey!" A cold voice yells from behind me, and I quickly release the shell which falls down, rolling over to Master Jin's legs. I hold my breathe, watching him bend over and pick the shell up. He starts shooting daggers at me, clearly irritated. "I thought I warned you no touching my stuff! Darn it!"
  • "It was on the floor Sir. I didn't. . ." I start shaking my head in denial, but my voice fades out with horror the moment I see him taking quick steps to where I stand.
  • By now, he's towering over me, pinning me with a glare that makes me feel so dirty and weak. "I didn't do it, I didn't touch anything." I mumble, my voice breaking into fragments.
  • "Look here. If you can't follow instructions, I will make you useful in other ways you wouldn't like." He threatens, almost crushing me in the glass wardrobe. "You're old enough to know the reason why you're all brought here. You're here to live and work as a call girl, but I saved you from the eyes of my men. Do not make me regret picking you!"
  • I silently nod, feeling my knees going cold. Tears have already pooled behind my eyes, but I don't want to cry. I will hold it in for as long as I can. This place will only be my hell if I allow those silly emotions to cloud my mind. So I'm going to be strong.
