Chapter 8

  • Zinnia Point of View
  • Why isn't he here yet?
  • We are getting late for our counseling and drama lessons. We should first learn about each other to hit two birds with one stone.
  • Due to the impending play rehearsals, I still did not receive my first counseling session yet so I should learn few things today in our carnival trip.
  • But why is Mr. Monk here yet? He should be waiting for me here half an hour ago!
  • What if he practiced the script the whole night without a break because of not disappointing me and fainted due to over-practicing?
  • Oh you crazy Zinnia! You should've taken better care of that poor Monk. He already looked like he was new to this world yesterday and you suddenly gave the whole script to read it overnight.
  • Stupid Zinnia. You should be helping them practice everything slowly.
  • It was already fifty minutes past six and I did not find the innocent looking Monk anywhere here. I dialed his number to see where he was but the number is not available.
  • Uh huh, his number is not available. Maybe his mobile is under repair. If his mobile is under repair then how would he call me or find me?
  • I cannot leave the responsibility of finding each other on the na?ve Monk. I should use my smartness and find his address and collect him.
  • But how do I find him?
  • The levers of my smart mind moved stopped at an excellent idea.
  • Internet!
  • When there is internet and Sir Google with me then I can even bring down Zeus to earth. So immediately pulling o, my smart phone, I tried his name in the search engine.
  • Mr. Monk...
  • Most of the search results landed on a certain movie called Monk. That's when I realized that I didn't know his actual Monk-ery name.
  • Now how do I find get him? I don't even know Mr. Egor's last name.
  • I sighed in defeat and was walking along the walkway with my face held down in shame. I am a kindergarten teacher and I am supposed to be the superwoman for my class. I have to know all the things and teach them to the kids. I should be able to find anyone being a Dino in my previous life. But I have just caused the title of being a kindergarten teacher to shame.
  • I walked and walked from almost fifteen minutes and came across a cinema theater which is playing the movie "The Godfather" for the noon slot. That's one good movie.
  • I watched it when I was a kid with my parents. The thought of my parents brought a wave of happiness to me. Though they are away from me, they still left a piece of them in me so I have them with me all the time.
  • I looked over the poster of the old Mafia movie "The Godfather" and smiled widely planning to go watch it to relax my mind.
  • Wait... wait a minute, Mafia movie?
  • Mafia?
  • Got it!
  • Mr. Monk is a part time Mafia worker.
  • How did I forget it? He was an innocent dollar saving Mafia part timer too.
  • Okay now I think I can find him. These days finding a monk is impossible but finding a mafia is quite easy. Google is father and mother of information and we can find almost another universe in google.
  • I immediately pulled out my phone from my pocket again opened the search engine.
  • 'Qualities of Mafia lifestyle'
  • The first search showed that they have some good qualities of be being intelligent, which is quite true as he is a Monk too. They are tough which I don't agree too because he looks as soft as yogurt puddings.
  • Nah... he is a softie.
  • Mafia men are very informative. This I agree because he knows so many things and I saw him looking around cautiously every minute in the orphanage. He must be looking for something like posters or advertisements stands to read.
  • Only a poor pocket knows the value of rich brain...
  • Mafia men are very secretive with everything. Now I understand why I couldn't find him already. He was abiding the rules of being a secret part timer.
  • Now comes the part, where could he live secretly in a place like California?
  • According to the mafia books I read, they usually stay in the middle of nowhere surrounded by woods.
  • Woods...! Woods?
  • "Taxi!" I called out for an empty cab that was passing by.
  • I have a feeling that Mr. Monk also stay in the jungle in the outskirts of the city. And since he is also playing a role of a werewolf and werewolves also live in the jungle, he is fated to live in wilderness.
  • Once I sat in the cab and ordered where to drive me, I opened Google maps and searched for any buildings in the jungle and found few torn down establishments which were previously hunters rest area.
  • Aww, he must be living in a torn down places. He must've said he has no much money to have a decent shelter then I would have done something for him.
  • Poor thing, must have been cold in winter, wet in rainy and sweaty in summers. He must've told me about how he was living. I feel so sorry for him and Mr. Egor. I didn't know when I gave him the role of a beggar, he really was one.
  • But on a positive note, he could at least play the role realistically.
  • "Ma'am we are here." The driver notified me and I got down from the cab giving him his fare.
  • Hmm, according to the uncle Google's maps, there are around three torn down places so if I go deep into the woods to the extreme right, I can find an old shed.
  • Wow, the cool refreshing air is so relaxing. It would be so good to live here every day. I skipped through the green trees happily and jumped high in joy whenever there was a large root.
  • I think I would work a part time job, earn, save and will build a small house aside Mr. Monk's here. That would be so good!
  • Mr. Monk would love my idea. I will tell him once I meet him.
  • After walking for half an hour, I reached the ragged shed. It looked so old and smells so bad. There's moist moss on the ground in the corners of the only room. It smells like thousands of creatures are dead and decomposed here.
  • My poor monk, he is going through so much in life. He is staying at a place like this? Though the surroundings in woods is great, the shed is not livable at all.
  • Stupid Zinnia, you should have asked where they were staying yesterday. Maybe they were silent about their address because they didn't want pity from me.
  • I walked around the room and found no traces of people living so I decided to walk to the next ragged shed in the centre of the woods. I was walking out of the room when my leg got into a contact something and fell down with a loud thud.
  • Ouch! Not only your mouth, use your eyes to Zinnia!
  • I wanted to stand up but before I could, the ground beneath me opened and I slide down into a dark long underground tunnel like slide.
  • It was so dark and creepy but the slide was getting so exciting. I only played on slides when I was small so sliding after many years is so exciting.
  • Slowly the dark tunnel slide turned blue and blurry when the slide turned out to be a glass one and surrounded by water. I fell on something with a thud again and rolled at a little with the force I slid down.
  • "Argh, ouch!" I rubbed my arms and face to see if I scratched somewhere.
  • Once I made sure I did not scratch my skin anywhere, I looked around to see myself in a large glass globe house undersea.
  • Wow! This is so beautiful!
  • "Who's there?" I heard a loud commanding voice. I grinned at the familiar voice and stood up immediately to hug the person.
  • "Mr. Egor. I came here to get Mr. Monk to the carnival. But what are you doing here? Where is here? This place looks so beautiful." I asked and hugged him tightly feeling so emotional that I finally found them.
  • "What are you doing here, Zinnia? How did you get here?" He was shocked don't know why.
  • He should be happy that I finally found them then why is he so surprised like he saw a ghost?
  • "I told you already I came to find you both. Mr. Monk's number is getting unavailable so I thought it might got under some repair so I came to find you people myself. Aren't you happy?" I asked jumping with joy and clapping with excitement.
  • He looked so dead suddenly like I just punched him with an iron rod. "Wow, you found us. Of course I am happy, so happy." He put on a weird smile and dusted his palms.
  • Was that a kind of clapping? It looks so cool!
  • "How did you find us?" He asked when I was looking around in amazement.
  • "I tell you later. Where are we? Is that real water and real fishes?" I am so happy to see the fishes swimming around. I moved inside and it looked like a normal house in bigger size but the different was just that this is surrounded by water. "Is this an undersea house?" I asked again before he could answer.
  • He looked so tired so he just nodded and followed me inside the house.
  • "Poor you both. You are so poor to buy a piece of land that you had to build a glass house under water?" I really pity these both for staying in situation but like many said, the most big problem is also advantageous to you sometimes. He couldn't afford a piece of land so he was living in beautiful place coexisting with sea friends.
  • "What?" He looked at me incredulously like I uttered a taboo word. Why is he being so shocked today?
  • Is he embarrassed that I found out their financial state?
  • Maybe... he must be embarrassed.
  • "Is Mr. Monk here? Please take me to him?" I said and walked towards a small staircase inside a large living room.
  • Now time to take Mr. Monk to carnival.
