Chapter 7

  • A few hours later, when Helena was finally done with her work for the day, she decided to check if Keiran was still in the training hall.
  • Entering the big room, she saw it was empty. No wonder, it was past seven pm. It was time for dinner, social gatherings, or just... life. But there was a lonely figure, fiercely hitting the punching bag. Keiran. She watched for a moment the way his muscles flexed with every hit he landed on the poor punching bag. It was flying back and forth, probably barely holding on because of his strength, but it felt like Keiran didn't even notice anything else around him. He was solely focused on his target and the way it was trying to escape him. The sounds from his punches echoed around the empty space and made Helena feel like they were the two only creatures in the entire world. Her heart started racing, and her throat became dry.
  • She pursed her lips, letting her eyes trail further down to his abs and chiseled muscles, and she forced herself to swallow. This man... This gorgeous creature was her mate. The person who desired her and wanted to be with her. Her knees nearly buckled, and she pulled herself out of her thoughts, giving herself a small shake. No. It was too early to think about things like that. They barely knew each other. And how would she let herself get entangled with a person she didn't know? She might be weird for her kind, but she wanted to know more about her mate, and then let him in her heart. That was how things were supposed to go for her. Not head first into something that could ruin them both.
