Chapter 50

• When a knock on the door made Helena shoot up from the bed, she furrowed her brows, and her eyes turned in the direction of the sound. The only thing she could hear was fading footsteps. There was no one on the other side, waiting for her to open. That person was running away.
• She squinted, suspicion making goosebumps appear on her skin, and noticed a small note next to the door. She leaped towards the door and whipped it open. Outside, the dark hall was completely empty, the only thing lighting it up was the glow of the moon. Just when she was about to close the door, she noticed small snowflakes flying around in the night. She stared at them for a second. The first snow had come.
• She entered her room again and kneeled, taking the note. When she read its contents, a small scowl appeared on her face, and her jaw clenched.
