- After a few wrong turns and curses, Helena reached the ballroom. Her heart jumped, and she gasped. The ballroom was empty. She scowled and remembered Tristan's words. A hunt. There was going to be a hunt. She quickened her pace and, straining to hear every single thing, followed the noises and scents. Soon, she turned out to be in the garden.
- The cool air made her skin prickle, and her cheeks flushed. Clenching her jaw, she clutched her dress in her fists, but when she turned a corner, a hand showed up from the darkness and pulled her behind a wall. Her muscles tensed, getting ready to fight.
- “Alden?!” she whisper-yelled when the figure stood in front of her and she fixed her eyes on him.
