Chapter 6

  • In an effort to rescue my brother before the competition caught up, we left for San Diego early in the morning. As I was still wearing medical scrubs, we pulled over at a nearby motel so I could change. As Nathan brought me jeans and a pink tank top, I rose and entered the room. Before I closed the door, he handed me the. I put them on while dumping my scrubs to the floor. Before leaving the restroom, I sprayed them with perfume. On the bed, Nathan was waiting for me.
  • He nodded and I replied, "Let's stroll over to his house."
  • As we took the elevator to the lobby, he remarked, "It will be less conspicuous than driving." We exited the building into the brisk morning San Diego traffic. As we made our way to his house along the sidewalk, my gun began to press against my back.
  • "Do you think he'll pay us any attention?" I asked, my body tingling with anxiety. I made valiant attempts to overcome the fear, but it persisted and kept growing.
  • If not, I'll show him," Nathan assured. As soon as I saw the house, I nodded. I was on the sidewalk admiring the impressive house that was in front of us. I started by climbing one step, then continued for a while before stopping. I raised my arm and pressed the doorbell. To keep an eye out for the pack in case they found us, Nathan stood behind me. As the door opened, I grinned.
  • I muttered, "Hello, I'm searching for Josh Rowen."
  • The elderly guy said, "Rowen, I don't know any Rowen."
  • I said, a little confused by the fact that he wasn't present, "Are you sure this is the address on file for him?" Chad may have resided in this area in the past if he were present.
  • The man slammed the door in my face while saying, "Yes, I'm sure." As I approached Nathan, he gave me a curious look.
  • I sighed as we moved next door and suggested that perhaps we should ask a neighbor if they knew him. I hid my gun securely before I knocked on the door.
  • Can I assist you? I smiled and a girl inquired.
  • I added as her smile faltered, "I'm looking for Josh Rowen."
  • My heart was pounding as she continued, "Like I told the officers he moved away." The wolves had come here in search of him.
  • "Can you tell me where? My brother, he "I spoke lightly since I knew mom wouldn't tell me without a good reason.
  • She responded as I sighed, "No, I'm sorry, like I told them, I don't know where they relocated.
  • As I down the stairs, I said "Thank you for your time." Nathan moaned in dissatisfaction. We have to track him down before they do.
  • As we made our way back to the hotel, he moaned, "I don't know where to look."
  • "No spell can find him," you say. He shook his head as I questioned.
  • As we made the turn onto the street that led to the hotel, I yelled, "Damn it. Upon seeing my father, I froze. He wasn't aware of us, but he was moving in our way. While Nathan was turning around the corner, I grabbed his arm.
  • "What?" I bit my lip as he questioned.
  • I sighed and took the gun out of my shirt, removing the safety. "My father is coming this way," I said.
  • What's the plan to shoot him? I whimpered as Nathan demanded.
  • As we went away from the hotel and into an alleyway crouching next to a dumpster, I muttered, "Only if he finds us. I was appreciative that I could cover up my odor.
  • "The automobile you smelled of is at the hotel, Sapphire. They are aware that you are there, so we must move forward "When I turned to face him, Nathan muttered.
  • I whispered, "I need perfume," as he summoned a bottle. Before we continued down the ally, I sprayed it all over us. Nathan handed me his sweatshirt as we entered a busy street.
  • He instructed me to put it on and keep my head down as I did so with the hood covering my head. I navigated the congested street while keeping my eyes peeled for additional Lycans. As I waited for a bus to take us away from this place, I arrived at the bus stop. My phone rang loudly, and I jumped. I responded right away.
  • I exclaimed, "Hello," as Nathan gave me a scowl.
  • "Come back, Sapphire, and I'll make sure you're secure. All they want is your brother "As I tensed up, my father said.
  • As I stepped into the bus, I yelled, "Tell that to my stab wound."
  • "Believe me. They won't harm you if you aid in the murder of your brother "My heart began to break at what my father said. He wants me to unjustly kill my own brother.
  • "No bye!" As I threw my phone out the window, I growled.
  • What was his goal? As I cried, Nathan questioned me.
  • I softly muttered, "For me to kill my brother," as Nathan embraced me. My internal pain returned as I sobbed on his shoulder.
  • "Keep quiet; everything will be OK. I'll always keep you safe "He spoke quietly as I took a deep breath to calm myself. I rubbed my eyes with my palms and then reclined in my chair. We rode the bus all the way to its terminus. We exited the bus and entered a busy bar. Nathan reached for his phone and dialed his folks, giving them the address to come collect us. I couldn't help but worry of my brother, who we had no idea where to look for him and who had a tracker right behind him.
  • Is there a way to locate my brother, Nathan? In the hopes that the response would alter, I re-asked.
  • I winced as he replied, "I know one way, but we have to wait for a full moon to do it, and I'm going to need a drop of your blood." Needles and blood make me sick.
  • I firmly said, "Okay, I'll do it for my brother, but just so you know, I might pass out. As he guided me to the car, he grinned. We got back in the car and headed to Austin, Texas, this time. I'll be there, dear brother.
