Chapter 19 You Are Not A Healthless Woman I
- To my misfortune, almost everything that was served at the castle lunch contained meat from the most diverse animals. While the others ate everything in wonder, I just felt infinite sadness when I realized how many animals had been killed to feed those people.
- By the end of lunch, while everyone was satisfied, I had tasted a few dishes. As my mother used to say: “the poor cannot be vegetarian”. Still I insisted. I left the table hungry.
- In the afternoon we were divided into small groups to visit the castle, monitored by different women. I could hear conversations and giggles from the girls entertained by the guards, who didn't even move. To me they all looked the same. I couldn't imagine anyone pulling a smile from those serious faces. I stayed in Sofia's group, luckily.
