Chapter 106 The Royal Wedding

  • When the bells rang I took a deep breath. Kim put the veil over my face and I walked into the church. The plan was perfect, aside from the fact that Magnus didn't know I was alive, let alone that he'd stolen his fiancée's place.
  • I felt like everyone could see and hear my heart skip a beat as I walked slowly, holding a bouquet of white flowers, unlike the red roses Victoria wore. I don't remember taking this long to walk a few feet in my entire life. I saw so many people I didn't know... The flashes of machines, cell phones and camcorders obscured my vision at times. However, I could see my prince in the distance. I smiled, even though no one could see, under my veil at my dear sister, who was sitting in the aisle row, in a place specially reserved for her. And the unseen smile was returned in such a gentle and intense way that it warmed my heart and gave me the strength to go on when I felt like I was almost out of breath with so much nervousness.
  • It was then that I saw my Magnus standing at the altar, arms behind his back, wearing a different outfit than I expected: a black suit with a white shirt, but not the dressy one he used to wear. He had several insignia and coats of arms on his heavy coat, and for the first time he wore a crown on his head. I looked into his eyes, but he didn't recognize me under the veil. I saw sadness in his eyes and at that moment I was absolutely sure that he didn't want to marry Vitória, but had given up his own choice for the sake of my family's well-being.
