Chapter 4 He Is Cured

  • “You will greet me as your grandfather a hundred times and quit your job at the hospital? Are you sure?” Su Qi gazed at Xue Hanhai sceptically.
  • “Of course! Why? Are you afraid now? Well, it’s not too late to back out now. But before you do so, you will have to kneel down and kowtow to me for a hundred times,” sneered Xue Hanhai.
  • The crowd was staring at Su Qi in disdain, though they were enjoying the show, This fellow is dumb enough to talk big in front of Chief Xue and look what happens now? He took the bragging too far, and there is no way of backing out now.
  • Liu Nian appeared displeased and in remorseful over the fact that she agreed for Su Qi to visit her at Hua Hai in the first place. Not only did he make a fool out of himself, he had utterly disgraced her as well.
  • She made up her mind to file for a divorce from Su Qi after all the shenanigans. She could not bear the thought of having to spend the rest of her life with him! She would rather die than have to live with him.
  • “I hope you are a man of your words,” Su Qi remarked calmly.
  • Xue Hanhai had an inexplicable feeling in his heart when he sensed that Su Qi was genuinely confident in himself, Can this fellow actually cure the patient? It’s impossible. Even I have failed to cure him, what could a good-for-nothing like him do?
  • After reassuring himself, he plastered a confident smile across his face as he prepared to see the downfall of Su Qi “How about we forget it? Just hurry up and admit defeat to avoid landing yourself in prison from failing to cure the patient. On account of Nian, I will be the bigger person and strike off the deal we had earlier on.”
  • Su Qi disregarded his mockery as he walked up to the little boy and squatted down to face him. He touched the little boy’s head gently and the latter who was restless the second before immediately calmed down like an obedient cat.
  • “My child, don’t worry. I am here to cure you.”
  • As the stupefied little boy gazed at Su Qi, a hint of contempt surfaced in his eyes.
  • However, Su Qi did not take it to heart. After rubbing his hands to warm them, he massaged several acupuncture points on the little boy’s body. In the eyes of others, he was merely putting up a false show and they all took turns to ridicule him mercilessly.
  • “Haha. I was just wondering how did he intend to treat the child. Turns out it was just massage.”
  • “Is this a joke? The kid has skin disease, but here he is, giving him a massage. How is that relevant?”
  • “This guy is a doofus. Why would someone like him be married to Dr. Liu?”
  • Liu Nian who was on the sidelines could no longer watch on as she was deeply embarrassed of Su Qi. After eyeing Su Qi with utter detest, she turned to leave.
  • It was at this moment the little boy let out a cry before hastily spitting out dark green thick phlegm. The smell was terribly putrid that everyone on scene quickly covered their noses.
  • “You imbecile! What did you do to my son? I’m going to kill you!” the man was instantly provoked by the sight as he went forward and yanked Su Qi by the collar, ready to strike.
  • Su Qi replied calmly, “Why not you take a look at your son’s complexion first? Doesn’t he look much better now?”
  • On hearing this, the middle-aged man turned to look and sure enough, his son’s complexion appeared much better than when he first got in. Previously it was pale, but now it got rosier, and both his eyes were twinkling. He no longer appeared sickly.
  • In his delight, the man’s eyes reddened instantly and he let go of Su Qi immediately, “Son, you’re finally getting better. That’s great! You almost scared the hell out of Dad.”
  • The crowd could not help but feel shocked, Is this deadbeat actually capable of treating illnesses?
  • Liu Nian was walking away when she heard the commotion and turned to catch sight of the scene in shock.
  • “It’s impossible!” Xue Hanhai argued, “I am sure it is a case of chickenpox. How can a simple massage cure it? It doesn’t make sense at all! I’m sure he didn’t cure him. He merely got the patient to spit out the phlegm, and the chickenpox is still unresolved!”
  • After they heard from Xue Hanhai, they immediately collected their thoughts, True enough, the patient only expelled phlegm up until now. So, he didn’t exactly cure the boy.
  • Being doctors and nurses themselves, they were familiar with the pathology of skin disease and they knew very well that it was impossible to cure it by means of massaging.
  • They were not entirely wrong. It was true that pure massaging was incapable of treating skin disease, but the problem was, the little boy was not suffering from that to begin with. Instead, the affliction was due to the presence of harmful spirits within the boy’s body. So naturally, his treatment procedures did not make any sense to them at all.
  • Liu Nian was having mixed feelings when she saw this, Is my deadbeat husband actually capable of curing this patient?
  • The man rose as asked Su Qi, “What’s going on with my son? Why did he spit out foul-smelling phlegm like this?
  • “Your son’s innate body constitution lacks Yin energy, so he requires more sunlight than ordinary people to absorb the Yang energy. May I ask if your son is carrying any jade pendants or bracelets?”
  • Others felt that Su Qi was pulling a fast one on the man. But to their surprise, the man’s brows furrowed upon hearing from Su Qi’s question, Indeed I have gotten my son a high-quality jade to carry on him which I purchased from a tomb raider some time ago...
  • But on second thought, he believed that should not have been the cause as he had made sure the jade was sterilized before passing on to his son.
  • After gazing intently at Su Qi for a few seconds, the man then nodded his head, telling him about the jade pendant.
  • Su Qi knew he had hit the nail on the head. Instead of divulging his verdict that the jade was plagued by evil energy to the man, he told him, “It was not caused by virus. As I mentioned earlier, your son’s innate body constitution lacks Yin energy. Jade pendant is capable of absorbing Yin energy while being buried in the underground for a long time. So when he carried the jade with him, it inadvertently weakens his body further and that leads to chickenpox…”
  • “That’s sheer nonsense!” before Su Qi could finish, Xue Hanhai interrupted impatiently, “Su Qi, you are such a fool, do you know that? I am a hundred percent affirmative that this boy suffers from chickenpox. Who are you trying to con with all this crap about Yin energy?”
  • “Is that so? If you’re so good at it, why didn’t your treatment work but ended up causing the patient’s condition to deteriorate?” sneered Su Qi.
  • “You!” Xue Hanhai was exasperated, “Who says I can’t treat him? All I need is some time. It’s a skin disease and not a fever. How can it recover so quickly?”
  • “Then look closely. I can cure him in just 30 minutes.”
  • Xue Hanhai laughed out loud again, “30 minutes? If you can succeed in treating him within 30 minutes, I’ll swallow that phlegm on the spot!”
  • It was the third bet Xue Hanhai made today, and one was more intense than the previous one. Yet, he was confident as he thought there was no way Su Qi could cure the little boy within 30 minutes.
  • Su Qi had long disliked Xue Hanhai. In the past, due to his family mandate, he was not able to fight back and could only tolerate him. Now that the 5-year deadline was drawing to its close, and since an opportunity presented itself, he was bound to let him have a taste of his own medicine.
  • “As the final step of my treatment procedure, I would need to perform acupuncture on the patient,” Su Qi gazed at Liu Nian, “Can I borrow your silver needles?”
  • Liu Nian frowned as she rejected him promptly, “I don’t have my silver needles with me.” It disgusted her to have to stay on to watch what she perceived as Su Qi’s con trick and she felt utterly disgraced by him.
  • Su Qi was dejected upon her rejection, Looks like she did not have even the slightest faith in me…
  • He turned to the crowd and asked earnestly, “Does anyone have silver needles I could borrow?”
  • A nurse hesitated for a moment before handing a box of silver needles to Su Qi, “Here you go. I happen to have one on me right now.”
  • “Thanks,” Su Qi expressed his gratitude as he took out the silver needles and identified the acupoints for treatment.
  • Acupuncture was his forte. However, having not practiced for quite some time, he was in fact a little jittery while he held the needles in his fingers.
  • He carefully penetrated the needle to stimulate the acupoints, appearing inept in his treatment.
  • Some of the doctors who were familiar with acupuncture snickered at the sight, Su Qi is clearly clueless at what he is doing. This is nothing but a hocus-pocus!
  • Before long, the little boy expelled another mouthful of phlegm and after spitting it out, his complexion turned rosy and lustrous almost immediately.
  • What’s more to that was the blisters on the little boy’s body began to subside, revealing his fair and plump skin.
