Chapter 4

  • Laura arrived Los Angeles airport, she was picked up by their family chauffeur.
  • “Welcome back, miss Evans.” David the chauffeur greeted while taking her luggage from her.
  • “Thank you, David.” she replied and got into the car.
  • While on their way home, she asked
  • “How is your wife, Mary doing?”
  • “She is fine ma’am. She is so excited about your coming, she has prepared your favorite meal.”
  • “Really! Well then, I can’t wait to have those delicious dishes she always prepares.” Laura said, smiling.
  • They got to Laura’s family house. It was a really huge and beautiful looking mansion. They had many maids working for them.
  • The chauffeur stopped in front of the mansion. Laura got out of the car while the driver went to get her luggage from the trunk.
  • Laura’s mom, Stella came out of the mansion to welcome her daughter.
  • “I can’t believe that I finally get to see my daughter after all this time.”
  • Laura smiled and went to hug her mom.
  • “Hi mom, I’ve missed you so much.”
  • Laura felt so happy feeling her mom’s touch and warm embrace once again.
  • “You know we have a lot to talk about.”
  • “Mom, please not now, I need to rest. I’m really tired right now.”
  • “Okay sweetie, just go shower and come have lunch.”
  • “Okay, mom.”
  • Laura went into her room, waiting for David to bring her luggage to her room. While waiting for him, she decided to give Scott a call to let him know that she had arrived LA.
  • “Hey babe” she began.
  • “Hey beautiful, I’ve been waiting for your call.”
  • “I just arrived and I’m about taking a shower.”
  • “I wish I was there with you, you know what I mean.” he teased.
  • Laura started blushing just thinking about what they usually do together while showering.
  • “I’m missing you already.”
  • She was on the call when David walked in with her luggage.
  • “I have to hang up now. I’ll give you a call later, okay?” Scott said.
  • “okay, I love you.”
  • “Love you too, beautiful.” and he hung up.
  • Laura thanked David and dismissed him.

  • After having lunch, Laura sat in the garden with her mom. They were having a little chat about friends and things they had done in each other’s absence.
  • “Mom, how’s the company doing so far?”
  • “Everything is going smooth and fine, it’s just that your presence is also needed there Laura… I won’t always be around to take care of it. Besides, it’s yours and I’m supposed to be resting, you should know that.”
  • Laura felt hurt by what her mom just said, but she knew that was the truth. She has been away from her dad’s company for too long.
  • “I know mom, it’s just that I want to expand my own business.”
  • “And let your dad’s effort go to waste?” her mom asked.
  • “Honey, you have Daniel to take care of that, so why don’t you come down here and take care of your dad’s company or you’re going to tell me again that your company hasn’t grown enough.”
  • Laura knew where her mom was heading to with this discussion.
  • “I will when I’m ready.” she replied her mom.
  • “And when will that be, Laura? You’ve been saying this for sometime now… tell me, does this have anything to do with Scott?”
  • “No mom! It’s my personal decision.”
  • “I won’t pressure you into doing anything but I’ll be honest with you. Scott is your distraction honey. You’re being deprived of making your own decisions because you care about what Scott would say, think or feel thereby forgetting about your own self… I know I can’t do anything to change your mind when it comes to Scott, but I want you to realize that you’re neglecting a lot of things because of him.”
  • “Mom, this isn’t the kind of discussion I intend having with you. I thought we were going to have a good time and not bring up these sort of issues.” Laura asked her mom because she couldn’t get why her mom didn’t like Scott one bit.
  • “I know love, I know… I just care about you and your well being and I don’t like the Laura I’m seeing now.”
  • "What are you trying to say mom?”
  • “Honey, you aren’t the same anymore and I want my Laura back. I want my baby back.”
  • Laura was touched by her mom’s advise but she didn’t feel she had changed. She felt that she was a better person now.
