Chapter 8 Lullaby Tears

  • He glares at me with deep intensity that I can’t comprehend, “Get into the bath tub.”
  • What?
  • “How am I going to do that when I have no clothes to put on.”
  • He shakes his head at me and walks out of the room, leaving me alone with a towel wrapped on my chest.
  • I laugh.
  • Oh Goddess!
  • He is affected by the mate bond, so badly.
  • Maybe, me almost pulling my clothes off in front of him was a good idea after all.
  • It left me alone in this room.
  • I don’t even know how I manage to pull off my clothes.
  • Oh… yeah, I tore them off me.
  • My sister would freak out when she finds out that I tore my underwear…
  • Just kidding, just kidding.
  • I’m still putting on my underwear, they are still on me.
  • He walks back in, with a few set of clothing in one hand and a glass of water in another.
  • Oh my gosh, he brought me a glass of water.
  • He is such a gentleman.
  • I stretch my hands out in glee, “Gimme, gimme that!” And he does.
  • I take it from him and immediately gulp it down. As it touches my tongue, I make a face and turn to him.
  • “That’s a potion made by a witch to heal you,” When I try to spit it out, he says, “If you want your wolf to come back quickly, you better drink it.”
  • Blah!
  • I gulp down every last drop in the glass and give it back to him, “That was awful. The witch should consider adding some sugar in her next potion.”
  • Hopefully, I won’t drink that again.
  • He ignores me like I thought he would, he is getting pretty predictable.
  • “The potion will heal you more faster. It will take a while for it to kick in,” His eyes moves to my ankle.
  • I don’t want to look. No, I don’t wanna!
  • “So you’re trying to say that it’s still going to hurt.”
  • What am I saying?
  • It’s literally hurting me right now.
  • “It may sting a little when you walk,” He lays clothes on the bed.
  • At least, I’d be able to walk. That’s great.
  • As he shifts away from me, the door opens and the male who freed me walks in.
  • I still don’t know why Sebastian calls this dipsh I mean guy here.
  • The male walks to me and I notice that his eyes are looking down.
  • Probably because I am in a towel.
  • He apparently came to wrap my ankle with a bandage and when he’s done, he leaves.
  • I turn to Sebastian, “You know, that guy hurt me.”
  • “Stand up and get into the bath tub. Call me when you are done.”
  • I roll my eyes, “How am I going to call you, through a phone?”
  • He points to the phone on the nightstand, “Yes.”
  • “Don’t you think I could use that to escape. I could call me sister?”
  • “Your sister is in the fey realm. They don’t embrace the technology age, Minerva. Their magic can do a whole lot of things for them.”
  • Dumb me!
  • “And you don’t know anyone’s number.”
  • I smile at him as he walks to the door, “You are in a good mood today.”
  • He looks over his shoulder and smiles too, “Watching you cry out in pain makes me happy.”
  • At the statement, my smile is lost, “Fuck you!”
  • “You wouldn’t want that,” His laugh echoes in the room before he leaves.
  • I am going to strangle him one day.
  • I stand to my feet slowly. It does sting a bit, but nothing less than that.
  • I look down.
  • Goddess, what kind of mad male is this?
  • Why would he bandage my leg before I go to take my bath.
  • Damn him!
  • Damn both of them.
  • When I get into the tub, I make sure that my leg doesn’t touch the water.
  • No, I can’t do this.
  • Ugh!
  • I loose the bandage on my ankle…
  • Oh gosh, it healed, but why aren’t I feeling the presence of my wolf.
  • Please Goddess, let her not be dead.
  • No, she can’t be.
  • The silver in my system will take some while to go off.
  • I just have to wait for it to burnt off by the potion.
  • I breath out in relief. She isn’t gone.
  • When I am done taking my bath and getting dressed, I sit on the bed and scroll down the numbers.
  • Actually, there’s only one number here and it’s Sebastian’s.
  • With a small groan, I call him and he answers in a beep, “I’ll be there in three seconds,” Before I can say a word, he cuts the call.
  • Crazy bastard!
  • He still hasn’t learnt how to hold a conversation.
  • “You don’t look too bad.”
  • I let out a scream as I sight him by the door, “That was less than three seconds.”
  • “Come.”
  • Goddess, what’s up with him and single words. His bride should present him the gift dictionary quickly.
  • I follow him out of the room and guess where he takes me, to the kitchen.
  • “You’re going to work for me,” He says, “You will work for me.”
  • I frown, “I will work for you? How much are we talking about, three hundred dollars a week or”
  • I shut up when I see him glaring at me.
  • “You’re going to get glaring line,” I tease. “Glaring lines, you get it.”
  • “You might make me consider really killing you,” He smiles at me.
  • Okay? That’s a little creepy.
  • “Just tell me what my job is,” I roll my eyes.
  • He glares at me again before he speaks, “You will be working as a maid in the palace, that’s the only way I can keep you close.”
  • You mean keep me far away from Greyson.
  • “You are not to speak to my family, or to my wife at any point, no matter what unless I tell you to.”I knew that this is a contract, the only thing it’s lacking is a paper for me to sign.
  • It’s probably hidden somewhere, I just have to look for it.
  • “Won’t they recognize me? I’m sure they will, especially all of them.”
  • “I took care out that, they won’t remember you at all. You are just a simple filthy maid to them.”
  • Did he just call me filthy?
  • “Even your fiancee?” He doesn’t answer me, “I guess her too. Continue your terms.”
  • I don’t think he has the strength to glare at me this time, he grits his teeth in anger.
  • He is actually running out of ways to express his anger.
  • “You are not to leave this castle on any occasion or you will face severe consequences.”
  • You won’t know when I leave, Seby.
  • “Understood,” The look he gives to me tells me that he doesn’t believe me.
  • “Is that all?” I ask, “If I do this, will you let me go and Greyson too?” He squints his eyes at me at the mention of Greyson’s name.
  • “You won’t leave this place, ever,” His voice rumbles lowly. I notice that all I his sentences start with a ‘you.’
  • “You don’t want me and I don’t want you, Sebastian. I still don’t know why I am here.”
  • “To carry my pups.”
  • I squint my eyes at him too, “That will never happen, and you know it. She can carry your pups for all I care.”
  • “But she isn’t you. She is just a human who mean not”
  • “What?” I frown. For a second there, I thought he was pleading with me, in a way.
  • Weird.
  • “Do as you’re told, Minerva,” He glares.
  • He can never stay in a good mood, can he?
  • The sound of heels coming our way, makes me look away from him. His apparently, future mate walks towards us with a smile on her face.
  • I observe how it wavers when she sees me.
  • I don’t blame her, if I was with a smile right now it would have dropped completely.
  • Of course, I see why Sebastian chose her over me.
  • Those long legs, slender frame, long blonde hair and perfect oval face.
  • Who wouldn’t want that.
  • For once in my life, I am ashamed of my bob, my beautiful bob hair.
  • She holds on to Sebastian’s arm tightly, “Seby, who is this?”
  • So she is the one decreasing his vocabulary, I guess she burnt all the dictionaries.
  • I try to press down the rising jealousy with a smile, an uptight smile but not so uptight.
  • “A new maid. I was only showing her the ropes,” Sebastian’s smile lovingly at her and my heart squeezes in pain.
  • I guess I’m thankful that this isn’t a repeat of our first introduction. Yeah, that’s just it.
  • She holds on to him, “Isn’t she suppose to know that before now?”
  • “I have to get to work.”
  • I hurry out of their sight.
  • I don’t want to shed a tear because of him again.
  • * * * * * * * * *
  • As I walk into the prison and the door closes behind me, Greyson eyes fly open.
  • He sits up, “Hey, I thought you wouldn’t come back.”
  • His eyes move to my foot, “You’re healed already?”
  • I nod numbly and walk into my open cell. I don’t care that the place has been cleaned.
  • “Want to talk about it?”
  • I lay on my side and hug my legs close to my chest, “There’s nothing to talk about.”
  • My tears are my lullaby to sleep.
  • I cry, I cry in front of Greyson to the ears of everyone in the prison and I don’t care.
