Chapter 8 CHEESE IN THE TRAP

  • "You don't have to give any compliments, that you don't mean. You must have seen better-looking girls, given your player status," Robin answered while pushing back a lock of her long red hair, which had been straightened.
  • "No, I mean what I just said. Why don't we just forget all that happened before and just get to the party? How did you find my staff, were they nice?"
  • "Yeah, wait a minute. What do you mean by your staff?"
  • "I own this mall, I established it when I turned sixteen with my savings," Andrew replied with pride.
  • "Wow, it's amazing, you did that at such a young age? And yes, your staff were nice to me."
  • "Okay then gorgeous, shall we go now?"
  • "Yes, of course," Robin replied with a smile and she suddenly realized that it was the first time she had smiled at him and that he was a player, she quickly switched back to her cold and detached attitude. Andrew took note of that smile and how her entire body language changed, but he chose to be silent about it.
  • The drive to the event venue was silent with Robin memorizing her lines for catching the culprit and Andrew thinking of his argument with his friends and also how to deal with whoever dared to slander him.
  • At last, they got to the venue at half-past three and the entire entrance was filled with wealthy students with expensive cars and attires. Robin felt out of place, knowing how far her financial status was from them all and suddenly felt insecure for the first time.
  • Everyone seemed to have an attendance date and at that observation, Robin realized that Andrew probably considered her as his date and that realization caused a weird sensation inside her, which she didn't want to analyze.
  • "Robin, I hope you remember what you have to do," Came Andrew, drawing her out of her wandering thoughts.
  • "Of course I do, I've been rehearsing my lines all day, but do you by any chance have an idea who the slanderer could be?" Robin asked looking into his hazel orbs.
  • "Yeah, I do and I sincerely don't wanna talk about it."
  • "It's alright, I don't expect you to tell me anything more. I just want this whole thing to end, already."
  • "Yeah, I also do. You think I want you around, I've had to tolerate you all this time, you know? I see the guys over there let's go." He said without meeting her eyes and Robin just simply followed, getting pissed off by his harsh tone.
  • They all exchanged greetings and then Miller made the call to bluelines56, to proceed with the plan, the number picked up almost immediately and the call was put on speaker and record mode.
  • "Hello, bluelines56. It's Chloe, I'm at the venue, where can we meet?
  • "Hello partner, I thought you backed out of the entire plan. Anyways, meet me backstage in five minutes, I've got a real surprise for Andrew and we'll be able to ruin him forever with this information I have," and with that, the line went dead.
  • "Oh my gosh man, this lady is filled with so much malice and resentment for you. What could you have done to warrant this?" Miller asked with a fake distressed tone.
  • "Oh please, don't be so dramatic Miller. I haven't done anything to anyone and when I find this bitch, I'll deal with her and get her expelled. No one messes with Andrew Grey and gets away unscathed," Andrew replied with a deadly look on his face and Robin found herself getting scared of him at that moment.
  • "Okay, Robin, there's no need to get so scared, all you have to do is lure her into admitting she only made up the entire story, there are cameras and microphones put in place backstage, so everyone's gonna see and hear everything happening. After that, the school's police will come and handle her, that's all," Evans said and at this point, Robin concluded that he was by far the most responsible one out of the four of them.
  • "I know, I'm leaving now. I hope everything goes on smoothly," she replied and made her way backstage while saying a prayer in her mind. She had never pretended to be someone else before and she was extremely nervous to do so for the first time.
  • Joe gave her a tap on the shoulder before she left, which had her smiling at him and Andrew giving her a lethal look.
  • Getting behind the curtains, she sighted a girl of about her age and probably some inches shorter in height with long straight black hair in a lavender dress and high heels, she had her phone to her ear and seemed to be waiting for someone. Robin quickly made up her mind to get in action.
  • "Hello, I assume you're bluelines56 right. I'm Chloe," Robin said in a fake high pitched tone.
  • "Of course Robin, my partner in crime. I know everything about you, you're a scholarship student, an orphan with just a brother named Jack, whom Andrew knocked down while drunk driving, damn I know the whole story." She said and Robin couldn't help but feel scared of how she got all her details.
  • "How do you know all of that and my actual name? What exactly do you want to gain from hurting Andrew by slandering him?"
  • "I have eyes and ears all around campus, you know, but you see now is not the time to talk about irrelevant things. Did you just say hurting Andrew? I'd never hurt him, we belong together and I just want him to realize this."
  • "What? I thought he already had a girlfriend, didn't he?"
  • "Hmmn, Jenna is nothing to him. I got to meet him first and I also liked him first, but then she came and snatched him with her stupid pretty face and also because of her dad's friendship with Mr. Silas Grey. I was quick to ruin their relationship the first time but unfortunately, they got back together again and now I'm sure that this time it would be final, then I'd finally have Andrew," the girl replied, sounding crazy to Robin.
  • "Wow, you're so smart, how did you do it?" Robin asked pretending to be intrigued.
  • "I simply made her believe that he was having an affair with me and stupid Jenna bought the whole thing, but then they still got back together and when I saw you at the cafe yelling at him, my genius brain came up with an even greater method of breaking them up, framing Andrew as a sexual assaulter and it worked brilliantly. Now all you have to do for me is to get to the stage in front of all the reporters and tell them that Andrew tried to rape you."
  • "Don't you think that would ruin his reputation forever, he might even get arrested. Don't get me wrong I want him to suffer for what he did to Jack, but how do you get him at the end of everything?"
  • "You don't have to worry about that, Andrew's father is filthy rich enough to clear his name, but I know Andrew, he's very independent and will never accept his father's help and that's when I'll get him by threatening him to either be with me or get arrested for sexual assault," she answered while smiling in victory.
  • "You still haven't given me your name yet, you know?"
  • "I'm Jennifer Lincoln, but you're allowed to call me Jenny. I'm Jenna's cousin," the girl answered.
  • "Cousin? Wow, I must say you are a genius, but not genius enough to know that this was all a trap," and with that, Robin drew the curtains of the stage and the entire audience came into view.
  • "You stupid bitch, what do you mean?" Jenny queried.
  • "Andrew and his friends only asked me to bait you and make you admit that everything you said in the school's forum was all lies," Robin answered.
  • Andrew and his friends walked up to where they were both standing and he said, "It means, everyone heard what you just said, including the Vice-Chancellor. The game is over, I had the feeling that it was you because you're the only psycho I know who is crazy enough to do such things. I need you to get one thing straight, I will never, ever love you. It's impossible, got that?"
  • "No, you do, you love me. Don't say that, I know you do. I did all these for you, only you Andrew!" Jenny screamed and at this point, reporters and the entire party guests were all murmuring and taking photos of everything.
  • Immediately, Jenna walked in, in a red off the shoulder gown with her hair tied in a high ponytail, her signature stilettoes in. Her entrance in the hall had everyone in awe.
  • "So it was you all along and I blamed Andrew for everything. I can't believe this, why do you hate me so much, Jenny?" Jenna asked gaining a scoff from Jenny in reply.
  • "You know just why, you..." Jenny replied, but Andrew was not ready to listen to another word and yelled, "I really don't care for this question and answer session. Security get this lady out of here right now! This is supposed to be my game launch, not a battlefield, got it. Take her away!"
  • The Vice-Chancellor of the school stood from his place at the high table and said, "For defamation of character of your fellow student and improper behaviour, Miss Jenifer Lincoln, you are hereby expelled from Achievers University Of Technology. You have two hours to vacate the campus premises, your family will also be informed about this. Now take her away."
  • As she was being led away by the security guards and Jenna, she still kept screaming about how it wasn't over yet and how she was going to ruin Jenna and Robin.
  • Taking a microphone, Andrew said, "Okay, I know everyone's got questions so I'm just gonna answer them quickly before we go into the programme for today."
  • One of the paparazzi immediately stood and asked, "Andrew Grey, who's the beautiful redhead with you, your new girlfriend?" Which had Robin's eyes opening wider as she looked at Andrew.
