Chapter 6 The assignment which i forgot
- Isabella's pov;
- Before starting the class, Ms Devlin announced, "Submit all of your assignments before going to your places."
- My eyes almost popped out.
- I turned to Sophia and asked, "Did you finish your assignment?"
- "Yeah, why are you asking me? Didn't you finish it?"
- I shook my head while saying, "What am I going to do now?"
- "What did you do in the library yesterday?"
- "I... I slept." And let out a chuckle.
- Evelyn made fun of me by saying, "And you said you don't want my help."
- I turned to Liam asking, "What about your assignment? Did you finish it?"
- "Yup!"
- I gave a stare at him and asked Noah, "What about you?"
- "I pulled all nighter and finished my assignment last night."
- "Am I the outcast again?"
- One by one they submitted their assignments on the table and went to their places. I should ask permission.
- Seeing me empty-handed Ms Devlin asked me, "Where's your assignment, Ms Garcia?"
- "I... I-I forgot my assignment, mam."
- "Forget to bring or forget to do?"
- "I finished but I forgot to bring it with me."
- "Well, I want your assignment on my table before eight in the morning by Monday."
- "Yes, mam. I will submit my assignment before eight, mam."
- "And don't forget it."
- "No, mam. I won't miss it."
- "If you did, you won't be getting your internal scores from me for this semester. Remember that."
- "Yes, mam."
- "Go and sit in your place."
- "Thank you, mam."
- I walked to my place while lowering my head without looking at others.
- After I got seated, Sophia whispered, "Liar."
- I gave a fake smile at her and turned to Liam asking, "Can I come to your house today?"
- "Yeah, And, You don't have to ask me whenever you're visiting," Liam said with a wink.
- "You don't want my help but you always end up asking Liam's help. What am I in your eyes?" Evelyn sounded pissed off.
- I pinched Evelyn's cheeks and said, "Since you help me a lot, I don't want to disturb you every time for my assignments. And in my eyes, you are my cute little best friend. Or do you want us to be more than friends?"
- Liam pulled me towards him and said, "Don't swing in that way since I'm waiting for you here."
- Evelyn said, "You don't have to worry about that because I have my eyes on a guy already."
- I got out of Liam's embrace and asked, "Who's it? Is he from our class?"
- She shook her head as a 'no' as her response.
- "Then what section is he from?"
- "It's a secret."
- "I will find out."
- Evelyn smirked at me and continued writing in her notebook.
- Sophia said, "Worry about your assignment first."
- I continued my whining saying, "I don't know how I'm going to finish my assignment today."
- "Tell me the books you'll be needing to refer for your topics. I'll get it from the library for you."
- Sophia, "This is why she'll turn to you whenever she needs help. This is not how you help. You should help by working along with her, not by working for her."
- Liam patted my head while saying to Sophia, "She'll learn it soon."
- "Sophia's right. I can't always seek your help every time. I should learn how to do these things by myself. I didn't remember the assignment so it's my mistake so I'll accompany you to the library. We'll go to the library and look for books together."
- Liam gave a smile.
- Noah, "You two! Stop being flirty. Aren't you two tired of this?"
- Liam and I chuckled together which made him pissed off more.
- "Quiet!" Ms Devlin shouted at us and continued teaching.
- In the library during the lunch break,
- Liam and I were searching for a book for my references. I searched the bookshelves while he was doing something on the computer. These books give me headaches. Why has it got so many confusing titles? It makes me feel sleepy too. I wonder how people spend most of their time in this crappy place.
- "Hey!" Liam jumped in front of me out of nowhere.
- "You scared me!"
- He chuckled while asking, "Did you find out anything?"
- "Yeah, I got one. Here." I gave the book which I found after searching one whole rack of books.
- "Okay. Let's look over there." He took me to another section and we both searched together.
- "I got one!" He showed me the book with a smile on his face.
- With him, searching for a book is an easy job because he knows the library in and out, not because he's a studious person, he is one of the members of the library association. After a while, we got the books I wanted and checked out from the library.
- "I'll head to my house and get changed first."
- He gave a nod and said, "Okay."
- I stood in front of Liam's house, rang the bell and waited for him to open and hoped that it shouldn't be his mother.
- The door opened. I saw Liam standing, wearing a white t-shirt and black pants.
- I stepped into the house and asked him while following to his room, "Where's your mom? Is she home yet?"
- "Ah! Are you still scared of her?"
- "I'm not scared. It's just..."
- "Bella! It's been days since you visited. How are you, darling?" His mom came out of nowhere and hugged me.
- I tried to get out of her grip while saying, "I'm doing good, Ms Smith. How are you doing?"
- She broke the embrace and said, "I'm good too. Are you hungry? I made some Mac and cheese for Laila."
- (Laila - Liam's younger sibling)
- "I ate before coming here, Ms Smith. And, Thank you for the offer. Um... I came here to do the assignment with..."
- Before I finished my sentence she said, "Yeah, Yeah. Go on. I'll bring some biscuits to Liam's room after a while."
- In Liam's room,
- "Your mom is so touchy, cheesy, smushy,..."
- Liam closed the door behind him after he came in and sat on the bed along with me.
- "Because she likes you."
- "Urgh! And why is that?"
- "How should I know that? Maybe you did something good for her eyes?"
- I let out a sigh and asked, "Where's Laila by the way?"
- Liam took the books which we brought from the library and kept them on the table while saying, "She's going to piano classes in her school."
- "Piano? Really? Laila?"
- "I got shocked like you too when she asked mom about attending piano classes. But she seems pretty interested so I'm planning to buy her a piano as her birthday gift."
- "Don't!"
- "What?"
- "She's attending classes maybe because she's interested in them, you can buy her anytime but don't give it as a birthday gift. A girl like her age doesn't want a piano as her birthday gift."
- "Then, what should I buy her? I'm so confused. I came to think of buying her a piano and it took a very long time. Now, what should I do now? What should I buy her?"
- "What about a piano?"
- "What?"
- "Laila is attending piano classes so if you buy her a piano, it'll be useful for her."
- He still had a confused look on his face.
- I tapped on his shoulder and said, "I was just kidding back then. Do you believe everything I say?"
- He pushed me on the bed and got over me and asked, "You like teasing me, huh?"
- I laughed at him and said, "Yeah. It's fun."
- "Then I'll have some fun too."
- "What are you going to do?"
- He looked suspicious. His eyes trailed from my face to...
- "No! Don't! Hahaha... Stop! Hahaha... No! Stop hahaha..."
- He tickled me on my waist continuously which made me laugh out loud without an end.
- When I tried to move him, he slipped and fell on me. Our faces were inches away from each other's where I could feel his breath. He was looking at me like he was going to kiss me.
- I moved him away and sat saying, "I got homework to do. Don't play with me."
- I started doing my assignment by referring to the books from the library. When I turned to take a look at him to know what he was doing silently, he was doing something on his phone. I returned to doing my work.
- Someone knocked on the door, when I tried to get up from it, he said, "I'll get it."
- After opening the door, someone screamed my name, "Bella!"
- That scream! I missed this scream very much.
- "Laila!"
- Laila ran over to me and hugged me saying, "Why didn't you come to see me? I missed you."
- I hugged her back saying, "I missed you too, Laila." I broke the embrace and asked her, "Your brother said you're going to piano classes. How did it happen?"
- She looked at Liam and came closer to me and whispered, "It's because there's a boy I like."
- I whispered back to her, "What? So you're going because you want to see him?"
- "Yeah, later I liked the piano lessons too. It's fun to learn."
- We both laughed together.
- "Laila, she's having the assignment to do so make your way out."
- She said to his face, "Fine!" And turned to me and said, "Come downstairs after you finish."
- I gave a thumbs up while she was leaving.
- After she left, I asked him, "Why do you have to be so rude to her? Is it because of me? Is it because I pushed you away? Is it because that you didn't get a kiss..."
- Liam gave a stare and walked out of the room, slamming the door behind. Did he got mad? Ah! Never mind him.
- I finished my assignment and looked at the time. What? Is it already seven? I took my bag and came downstairs where I saw Ms Smith and Mr Smith in the gallery talking to each other, Laila was watching something on television while Liam... Where's Liam?
- "Bella, darling! Did you finish your work? Do you want to eat? Shall I prepare something for you?"
- "It's fine, Ms Smith. I don't feel hungry since I ate all the biscuits you gave me earlier."
- "Okay."
- "Um... Where's Liam, Ms Smith?"
- "I'm here!"
- When I turned, he was coming out of the kitchen holding a plate with food in his hand. He gave it to me saying, "It's for you. Eat it before you go to your place."
- "I'm not hungry."
- When I tried to leave, he grabbed my hand saying, "I'll…" His mother showed up before he finished so he let go of his hand from holding mine.
- Ms Smith asked me, "Are you leaving already? Did your mom get back home from work?"
- "Um… I didn't know. I have some work to do so I better leave now."
- "Okay, but visit whenever you're free."
- "Yes, Ms Smith. Have a good night."
- I made my way out of the house and walked along the street looking around the street.
- "I'll accompany you to the bus terminal."
- Liam was walking beside me.
- I let out a sigh and continued walking.
- "The whole class is thinking that we are dating but here I couldn't even…"
- "We talked a lot about this, Liam."
- "Yeah, I know. You told me many times. How will I forget that? But… leave it. Then, did you finish your assignment?"
- "Yeah."
- "Don't forget to bring it on Monday morning."
- "I won't."
- We came to the bus terminal. Liam stood along with me in the bus terminal.
- "Why are you still here? Aren't you going home?"
- "I'll leave after you get on the bus."
- I poked his chest saying, "I'm not a little girl. You don't have to worry about me. Get out of here."
- He stood like he was desperate not to leave this place. I wished for the bus to come soon. I looked at the timing of the bus. There should be a bus in another five minutes.
- "Do you have any plans for the weekend?"
- "No. And I'm not coming anywhere with you."
- He looked pissed off.
- The bus arrived.
- Ignoring him, I got onto the bus and got seated.
- He came inside the bus and sat beside me, "Wh-What are you doing here?"
- "I just remember that I got to go somewhere."
- "Where? Name it."
- "Why do you want the name? Do you wanna tag along?"
- I ignored him and remained quiet. I took my iPod out and stuck them into my ears to escape from this annoying person.
- Liam took one of my earphones and stuck it into one of his ears saying, "Aren't we friends?"
- I ignored him and continued listening to the song which is playing in my playlist.
- Someone tapped me.
- "Your stop came." Liam was shouting in my face.
- Did I sleep?
- I stood from the place and got out of the bus.
- "Why are you coming with me?"
- "Who's coming with you? I'm meeting a friend here."
- "Menteur"
- "What? What does that mean?"
- I let out a chuckle.
- "What does that mean? Come on. Say it."
- "Ask the friend you're going to meet."
- I came to my house.
- "Isn't your mom not home?"
- "Yeah."
- "Okay. Goodnight. Goodbye, hug?"
- "Get out of here."
- I came into the house and closed the door behind.
