Chapter 8 The Hero

• The two criminals stopped and looked at the man who was standing in the middle of them. They exchanged glances as if they could understand each other's thoughts without speaking.
• "What do you want? Are you looking for trouble, huh?" asked one of them fiercely.
• The chubby man turned, stood up, and walked towards the man who was trying to stop him. "Do you want to have some fun, Bro? She's so pretty, isn't she? Look! There are rarely beautiful women walking here on purpose," the chubby man asked while reaching out his hand to the blonde man's shoulder to invite him to party.
• However, the blonde man caught the chubby man's wrist and twisted it with all his might. The chubby man screamed in pain, then he tried to attack the blonde man with a kick that he thought would kill his opponent's movement.
• Unfortunately, his efforts were in vain because the blonde man was much more agile than the chubby man. He easily caught the criminal's leg. Then, he twisted and threw his opponent with all his might. Physically, the blonde man looked superior to his opponent with his muscular and tall body.
• The bright emerald-eyed man looked sharply at the chubby man before he bent his knee and rewarded the criminal's stomach with a deadly kick. His emotions were really unbearable until he felt he could kill his opponent. If it wasn't breaking the law, he would have done it.
• "Feel this, you bastard! How dare you bully a weak woman!" shouted the blonde man with raging anger. "You are so rude! Isn't it hard to make money in a legal way, huh?"
• The blonde man continued to hit and kick the chubby man relentlessly. Meanwhile, the bald man just watched in fear while silencing Maya's mouth with his dirty hands.
• Maya could even smell tobacco and alcohol from the criminal's hands and body. If she were in normal condition, of course, Maya would vomit. However, the current situation made Maya scared and in pain. Her body's natural reaction was not normal.
• After finishing the chubby man, the handsome blonde man immediately approached the bald man who was holding Maya. The bald man trembled more and more, overpowered by the deadly aura of the man approaching him.
• "Let go of the woman or you will end up like your friend!" shouted the blonde man fiercely.
• "Ju-just try if you can!" shouted the bald man while dragging Maya backward.
• Maya’s eyes welled up with tears as she received help in a critical moment from a familiar figure, even though they had only met once before. At that moment, her only hope was that this man would be able to take care of the person who had silenced her.
• "Go ahead, if you can!" The bald man threw Maya's weak body to the side and dispelled his fear by assuming a fighting stance with his feet apart. He then pointed three fingers on his right hand at his opponent and pulled them back towards himself. "Let's go!"
• Without waiting any longer, his opponent quickly approached and lifted the bald man's thin body as if it had no mass. He threw the bald man's body against the dirty wall of the nearby store, creating a very loud "bough" sound. It can be assumed that some of the bald man's spine was broken as a result.
• "Leo!" Maya exclaimed with relief as she watched it all come to an end. Her suffering was over. She wanted to get up, but she had no strength. Her body was suddenly paralyzed.
• "Maya, are you okay?" Leo asked as he approached Maya with his breath racing. His eyes scanned Maya's injured body in many places, especially her face, knees, and toes. The woman who had looked perfectly like an angel was now like a rabbit that had been nearly killed by an eagle. "No! You're not okay!" Leo said sadly.
• Leo lowered his head, looking at Maya who looked very pale and weak. The unfortunate woman cried while smiling. "I'm okay because you came to help me. Thanks, Leo! You're like a superhero!" Maya said gratefully.
• Leo knelt, wanting to carry Maya, but he remembered that she was someone's wife. He had almost died protecting her wedding ring. Surely she loved her cheating husband.
• "Can you walk?" Leo asked hesitantly. He seemed to be asking another stupid question besides whether Maya was okay.
• Maya wanted to say no. However, she realized that asking Leo to carry her was not polite, considering her status as Adam's wife. So she tried to stand up, even though it was difficult.
• When Maya tried to take a step, she stumbled. She would have fallen if it hadn't been for Leo's strong hand catching her waist. Their eyes accidentally met, attacking Leo's lonely heart with dangerous glances. Nobody knows how long this clichéd scene lasted. Leo felt like he was enchanted and drowned in the dark charm of Maya's eyes.
• "Uhmm...." Maya's cough broke Leo's reverie. "Am I too heavy?"
• "Oh, sorry! Are... you... okay?" Leo asked again, making Maya giggle. "You keep asking the same question."
• Leo realized his foolishness. He quickly let go of Maya and offered to carry the slender woman so she wouldn't fall again. They walked slowly and quietly.
• The day began to darken. No street lights were illuminating this creepy location. With Maya's slow pace of only two hundred meters per hour, they would reach the hotel by midnight. Leo looked around, but no vehicles were passing by, let alone a taxi.
• "How did you know I was here?" Maya asked later to break the silence.
• Leo just smiled. Then he put his thumb and index finger in his mouth to whistle. Soon, the homeless children she bought food for earlier came out.
• Their noisy voices were like church bells in the morning. They cheered because the handsome prince had saved the princess.
• "You guys!" Maya exclaimed with a grateful face. "Oh, God! You were the ones who helped me!"
• A smile bloomed on Maya's pale face, making her look beautiful even though she was exhausted. Maya looked at Leo and the children alternately.
• Leo couldn't help but feel happy, responding to Maya's smile with the sweetest and most sincere smile. Not the player’s smile he usually used to charm women.
• "Thank God, the princess is safe!" shouted a little girl who asked for ten packs of biscuits.
• "I was going to warn you not to come here, Auntie! But the bad uncles appeared and saw me!" said a little boy who looked smart for his age.
• "Apollo then ran as fast as he could to seek help. Fortunately, he met the handsome uncle and brought him here to help me, sister!" explained the skinny boy, pointing to the biggest boy. Maybe Apollo was their gang leader.
• The children surrounded Maya and Leo with joy, telling them how amazed they were by Leo's actions. "He's so strong like a masked hero! I hope those two bad uncles die so we can be free," Apollo said with the authority of a leader.
• Soon after, something surprising happened. The children ran like sheep that saw a wolf. It was then that Maya turned around and found something unexpected. The fat man stood up and pointed a gun at Leo and Maya.
• "Watch out!"
• The sound of a gunshot echoed in the air. Mixed with Maya and Leo's screams.
• It was then that the sound of a police patrol car siren came to the scene. The fat man was shot in the leg when he tried to resist. The bald man was also arrested by the officers when he tried to escape.
• However, for Leo, time seemed to stop. The man cursed his own stupidity. It was too late. The woman he wanted to save was now lying helpless in his arms. Drenched in blood for becoming a shield to save him.
• "Maya!" Leo shouted, shaking Maya's shoulder. "Wake up, Maya!"
