Chapter 5 Knight in Shining Armor

  • “Simon, what are you doing?” Mandy struggled to remove his arms around her.
  • But Simon ignored her, he just looked at her eyes like searching through the deepest part of her soul.
  • “You don’t want to marry that man, that's why you accepted this dare, isn’t it? You want your groom to be mad at you so that he would initiate to cancel the wedding, am I right?” He asked to confirm his speculation.
  • Simon hit the nail on the head. However, Mandy does not want to admit it to him.
  • “You’re saying nonsense. Let go of me!” She struggled once more. She was annoyed how Simon held her in his arms.
  • “I will only release you if you tell me the truth.” Simon urged her to speak.
  • Mandy paused for a while. She realized that she could not lie to him since he was now a police inspector.
  • “Okay, you got it right. Happy?” Mandy reluctantly admitted as she felt uncomfortable by their position. Also, she thought that it was better to properly execute her plan.
  • Finally, Simon released her from his arms and sat down. “So, what’s your plan?” He smiled showing the two deep dimples on his cheeks that made him more handsome.
  • “Plan? I don’t have a plan until tomorrow. As you know, I really don’t want to get married. So, I hope that this will work. This is my last chance.” She said with a gleam of hope in her eyes.
  • “How are you sure that this is going to work? I mean unless he saw you doing it with his very own eyes.” Simon was trying to be rational.
  • Mandy’s eyes grew wider as she imagined what Simon was trying to say. “What do you mean? Do you want me to do it with you? For real?” Mandy asked.
  • “Of course not! I was trying to say that this plan would not work.” Simon laughed at her mockingly.
  • ‘Hmph! Let us wait until tomorrow. Just act properly, okay? By the way, why did you pretend to be a male performer? It doesn’t suit you.” Mandy now laughed hard at him as she sat back on the couch since she was no longer sleepy.
  • Simon’s face flushed red in embarrassment while thinking about what he did earlier.
  • “Well, I had no choice. It was Charm’s idea. She said that they arranged a surprise bridal shower for you since you are already getting married. Then, she asked me to pretend to be a male performer. Initially, I hate the idea but as you know, there’s a lot of opportunists nowadays, that’s why I agreed later on.” Simon explained everything to her.
  • “Oh, I see.” Mandy now understood.
  • Unexpectedly, the door opened with a loud bang! Mandy and Simon were both startled by the noise. They looked towards the direction of the door.
  • Then, Andrew came in like a raging lion attacking its prey. He instantly saw Mandy in the living room with a man beside her. He paused for a second then, rushed towards her.
  • “Amanda!” Andrew yelled.
  • “Andrew,” Mandy said unconsciously. She was surprised to see him and at the same time disappointed.
  • Simon turned his head to her. ‘It must be her fiancé.’ He thought.
  • Without another word, Andrew carried Mandy on his shoulders.
  • “What are you doing? Bring me down!” Mandy shouted while kicking her legs and hitting his back.
  • However, it seemed that it did not affect Andrew. He kept on walking like he was not hurt at all and went outside the room.
  • Everything happened in a snap. Simon was left in a daze.
  • Andrew learned from her bodyguard that she went out in a hurry and came to a hotel.
  • Fortunately, the hotel was one of their subsidiaries so he was able to get detailed information from the Hotel Manager. He called the manager and he was informed that the room was reserved for a bridal shower party having five guests. At first, he was still calm as it was not a big deal since it was a party for Mandy that was possibly arranged by her friends.
  • However, the Hotel Manager called him saying that the four guests had left the hotel already but Mandy was still in the room together with one of the guests who was a man.
  • He started to panic thinking that Mandy might be in danger. He assumed that Mandy needed his help. That's why he came like a knight in shining armor only to find her sitting pretty on a couch with the man.
  • Consequently, he quickly carried her out of the room without saying anything.
  • Afterward, Andrew brought Mandy to a suite located in the same hotel.
  • “Hey! What do you think you are doing?” Mandy shouted furiously after Andrew brought her down. She was frustrated that she has yet to do her plan.
  • Andrew did not speak. He could not say that he was carried away by his emotions that he could not think clearly when he rushed to the room.
  • “Hello there?” Mandy knocked on his forehead when he did not respond.
  • Then, Andrew held her hand and asked. “Who’s that man?”
  • He was jealous to see her with another man even though they were not doing anything and were sitting far from each other.
  • “He’s a friend.” Said Mandy as she pulled back her hand. She suddenly bit her lips in regret that she answered him the truth. She thought that she should have told Andrew that he’s her boyfriend. However, it was too late now to lie.
  • “Friend? I never thought that you have a male friend.” He raised his brow.
  • “Of course, I have! Wait, why did you rush to the room and carry me out without asking this question?” She asked curiously. She was also wondering how Andrew learned where she was.
  • “Well, that. Hmm, let us say that I received incorrect information. Anyway, I’ll take you home. It’s late already.” Andrew said as he assisted her to go outside the room.
  • Mandy was puzzled about what he meant by ‘incorrect information’. She also noticed that he was avoiding the topic but she did not ask anymore.
