Chapter 3 One Condition

  • Two months passed by swiftly.
  • Mandy has graduated from college and her wedding with Andrew is getting nearer.
  • Mandy told her mom that she would like to meet Andrew before their wedding which made her mom feel glad.
  • Janeth Collins thought that Mandy wanted to make it up with Andrew before their wedding. She has no idea of what Mandy was really thinking.
  • Andrew felt glad as well when Janeth Collins informed him that Mandy would like to meet him. He agreed to meet her at ten in the morning at the restaurant located on the ground floor of their hotel.
  • Mandy arrived ten minutes earlier than the agreed time. However, it was past ten-thirty already, Andrew has yet to appear. She had almost lost her cool and was about to leave when she saw Andrew's familiar figure at the entrance of the restaurant. She thought that he intentionally came late.
  • “Why are you late?” Mandy asked angrily while she raised her eyebrow.
  • Andrew ignored her disappointed look and took the opposite seat handsomely.
  • While Andrew’s assistant was shocked by how Mandy talked to his boss. He looked at her in disbelief. No one ever dared to speak to him like that knowing his temper. If anyone did, they would be punished.
  • “I had an important meeting. What do you want to talk about?” Andrew answered casually.
  • Mandy did not pay attention to his reason. She did not beat around the bush and told him her purpose directly.
  • “I want to talk to you about our wedding,” Mandy said, looking straight into his eyes.
  • “What’s about the wedding?” Andrew’s brows furrowed. He was wondering about what this spoiled brat was thinking this time.
  • “I just want to ask you if you have really decided to marry me. I mean, marrying someone you don’t love is a very complicated thing.” Mandy softened her expression. She would try to convince him to cancel their wedding and just marry another girl that he likes.
  • “What are you trying to say? You want me to cancel the wedding?” He was aware that Mandy does not want to get married from the beginning. He remembered her reaction when they informed her about the arranged marriage. That he later understood after Janeth Collins told him the reason.
  • Mandy was not able to react. She did not expect that Andrew would read what’s on her mind.
  • ‘Is he a psychic or what?’ She thought.
  • Andrew continued when Mandy did not respond. “I don’t really care who I am going to marry. I just want to have a child soon. So, it’s not a big deal for me. I hope the same applies to you.”
  • Mandy’s eyes dilated when she heard that Andrew wanted a child.
  • ‘Does it mean that I will bear his child?’ She asked herself as her face turned crimson. Then, she realized that it was not a bad idea after all. She also wanted to have a child. So, it’s a tie but still, she does not lose hope.
  • “How come you don’t care? I’m sure you have a lot of women out there who wanted to bear your child. I mean you are rich and handsome. Who would not want to marry a man as perfect as you?” Mandy told him his good qualities hoping that he would also realize what she was trying to say.
  • Andrew felt delighted deep inside that Mandy was aware of those things. He unconsciously curled his lips upward but instantly faded as he said in a serious tone, “You’re the only one, Amanda Collins.”
  • Mandy almost threw out the juice she was drinking when she heard his answer. She gracefully wiped her mouth.
  • “I’m the only one but why do you still want to marry me? Why not one of those women who does not hesitate to marry you?” Mandy asked with a confused expression.
  • “Yes, there’s a lot of women out there who want to be my woman and if our marriage did not work, I can easily divorce you. As to the one who will bear my child, I already chose you.” Andrew announced with a half-smile.
  • Mandy took a deep breath. She thought that it was not easy to convince this man to cancel their marriage. Hence, she gave up the idea and accepted her fate.
  • “Alright, I will agree to marry you in one condition.” It would be her last resort, to give him a condition.
  • “What condition?” Andrew arched his brow. He thought that this 20-year-old girl had the courage to give him a condition.
  • “If you fell in love with me or I fell in love with you, we will get a divorce,” Mandy said while she crossed her legs.
  • It was a warning for Andrew not to fall in love with her and to not dare to make her fall for him. She would marry him but she does not want to have an intimate relationship with him.
  • Andrew realized that this girl really loves to play games. “Hmm. What if we both fell in love with each other?” He asked, trying to tease her.
  • “That’s impossible.” She smirked. She promised herself not to fall in love. She does not want to be hurt in the end like her mother.
  • “Are you sure?” He drew his face near her.
  • “Of course!” Mandy answered in a snap without blinking her eyes.
  • “Alright, deal!” Andrew smiled. He thought that this was going to be interesting.
  • Another month has passed. Mandy’s wedding is just around the corner.
  • Charmaine Clarke, Mandy’s best friend called her.
  • “Hello, Mandy? Please help me, I’m in trouble.” Charmaine said while crying.
  • “Charm? What’s the matter?” Mandy asked worriedly when she heard Charmaine was sobbing.
  • “I think I killed someone.” Charm continued to sob.
  • “W-what? What happened?” Mandy was so shocked. She could not believe that her best friend was able to do that.
  • “I-I don’t know, i-it happened so fast. I’ll tell you when you get here. Mandy, please help me.”
  • “Where are you?” Mandy asked.
  • “I’m in Dream Hotel room 920.” Charm replied.
  • “Alright, I’m coming.”
  • Mandy immediately took a cab. As she reached the hotel she took the elevator at once and went straight to the room mentioned by Charm.
