Chapter 8

  • “Are you smiling?” Trisha asked with slight surprise as Corey slowly opened his eyes and turned to Trisha, his eyes clear and attractive.
  • “You are a graduate of Oxford University aren’t you? Graduated with first-class honors. Third best student in the whole of her year. If you can’t understand something as simple as her saying she’s going to spend my money for the rest of her life, then I think we should have your credentials checked again” Corey replied as Trisha chuckled.
  • “So you are going to get married huh?” She asked as she shook her head.
  • “You are crazy,” she added as Corey shrugged.
  • “I know right. I mean I made the craziest decision in my life the day I met Natalia” Corey added as Trisha turned to him.
  • “Oh wow. Does grandpa know about this?” Trisha asked as Corey shrugged.
  • “Do I look good?” a voice interrupted Trisha’s next statement as both Corey and Trisha turned to see Natalia wearing a purple gown with small rhino stones scattered all over it. The gown was simple, didn’t hug her body so much but it was more like it was tailored for her. Her small face was even attractive and she looked beautiful.
  • “You actually do look very nice” Trisha found herself saying as Corey turned to Trisha.
  • “We’ll take it” he said while stretching his card to one of the attendants who in turn turned to Trisha who immediately wore a frown on her face.
  • “Are you trying to embarrass me?” Trisha asked with a huge frown on her face making her makeup look fierce.
  • It’s just a gown” she added as Natalia smiled.
  • “Thank you” Natalia said as Corey grabbed Natalia’s hand again and turned to Trisha.
  • “Thank you. I’ll come by again another time” Corey said as Trisha snorted.
  • “I know you won’t show your face here until Natalia decides to buy clothes again” Trisha said as Natalia chuckled.
  • ‘I’ll bring him myself” Natalia said with a small smile as Trisha glanced at her and walked back into the store while Natalia and Corey walked outside the store. Natalia tried to stop the butterflies flying in her stomach as Corey opened the door for her and Natalia got into the car.
  • Corey reversed the car and drove into the streets once again. He darted a glance at Natalia and chuckled.
  • “What’s funny?” Natalia asked.
  • “I thought you were going to see my grandfather. Why did you pick such a simple dress?” Corey asked as he chuckled.
  • “Do you want him to say I don’t give you money?” Corey asked as Natalia burst into laughter.
  • “Really?” Natalia asked as she laughed lightly again.
  • “Can you stop at the supermarket there? I need to get some things for your grandfather. It would be very rude for me to visit him and go with my bare hands” Natalia said as Corey nodded.
  • “I bought a basket of fruits on my way to pick you” Corey said as Natalia nodded.
  • “Basket of fruits? When it’s not like he’s in the hospital” Natalia said as Corey chuckled.
  • “He’s in the hospital actually” Corey replied as Natalia’s eyes widened.
  • “Ehn?”
  • Natalia started looking pensive as soon as they reached the hospital and Corey found himself amused.
  • “You weren’t nervous for even a minute on the way here and here you are all of a sudden nervous” Corey said as Natalia turned to him and chuckled while adjusting the basket of fruits in her arm.
  • “Oh really” she said as Corey sighed softly as he grabbed her hand and walked into the hospital. Like before, the surprise and shock in the eyes of the bodyguards stationed in the hospital couldn’t be masked as they all looked at Natalia and Corey with wide eyes. Even the nurses in the hospital started whispering as they got into the elevator.
  • “Everyone is looking like they saw a ghost” Natalia said as Corey glanced down at her.
  • “Do you feel offended?” he asked as Natalia shrugged.
  • “I don’t know them nor do they know me; why should I feel offended?” Natalia asked as Corey chuckled and nodded.
  • “Your grandfather is not seriously sick is he?” Natalia asked and Corey shook his head.
  • “Not at all. He’s fine already but the old man just wants to stay in the hospital for reasons only known to him. Ha” Corey replied and Natalia chuckled before slowly shaking her head. The elevator made a ding sound and the doors slid open. Rows of bodyguards stood at each side and one of them started walking up to them in large strides. He froze seeing Corey with an unfamiliar woman and what was more, he was holding her hand.
  • “What is it Andrew?” Corey asked as the bodyguard finally found his voice.
  • “Your mother is with your grandfather” Andrew replied as Corey’s lips curved upwards lightly.
  • “That saves me the stress” he said as he pulled Natalia along with him.
  • “Your mom is here too?” Natalia asked and Corey nodded.
  • “Nervous?” Corey asked while Natalia chuckled.
  • “Not at all”
  • The old man and the woman in the room were chatting merrily as the door of the huge ward opened. Seeing his grandson that had stomped off the day before he had asked him to get married; Caleb Amante folded his arms and wore a stubborn look so that no matter what terms his grandson brought to the table to negotiate with him, he would stand his ground and not agree.
  • “Folding your arms and wearing that expression, grandpa, do you think I’m here to negotiate with you?” Corey asked as his grandfather pouted but the very next minute, a woman appeared behind him stunning him and the woman in the room
