Chapter 7

  • Natalia tried to suppress the smile spreading across her lips as soon as she got into the car. She turned to glance at Corey who was in an immaculate navy blue suit. He even looked twice as dashing as when she had seen him the previous day.
  • “Are those your friends?” Corey asked as soon as he reversed and slammed on the accelerator. Natalia nodded as she removed her bag from her shoulder.
  • “The one on the high ponytail is Mona and the one on the long braids is Anita” Natalia replied as Corey nodded before he resumed driving.
  • “I don't think you would come,” Natalia said as Corey turned to glance at her. Their eyes met for a second before Natalia quickly turned her face and Corey chuckled.
  • “Why did you think I wouldn’t come?” Corey asked as she a small smile formed on his lips.
  • “I clearly told you I would be waiting for you by the time you finish classes” Corey added as Natalia nodded while staring outside the window and trying not to smile too much. She certainly didn’t have a reason for smiling this much.
  • Seeing the street Corey had turned into; Natalia turned to him and asked “Where are we going?” she asked.
  • “Buying clothes” Corey replied as Natalia furrowed her brows.
  • “Buying clothes?” she asked uncertainty.
  • “We are going to see my grandfather” Corey replied as Natalia raised an eyebrow.
  • “Oh wow. We are going to see your grandfather?” Natalia asked again and Corey nodded his head.
  • “Yeah” he said again as Natalia swallowed her saliva and didn’t make another comment.
  • Corey brought the car to a stop in front of a huge building. A building she easily recognized as a fashion store under the Amante Corporations. Natalia opened the door and got down too, slipping her phone into the pocket of her jeans trousers as Corey walked towards her and grabbed her hand much to Natalia’s surprise and shock. She dropped her head as a small smile formed on her lips while allowing Corey to lead her through into the shop.
  • Natalia didn’t miss the look in the security guards and the shop attendants’ eyes upon seeing Corey and even the way he was holding her hand. Natalia turned to see a lady walking towards them in elegant steps. Her hair was held upwards in a ponytail and a tight fitting dress hugged her lean body, her face was caked with just enough makeup to make her look attractive enough.
  • “When Nuella told me you were here; I almost didn’t believe it. What are you doing here?” the lady asked as she raised her eyebrow seeing the way Corey was holding Natalia’s hand.
  • “She needs to change. Just get her clothes she can change into” Corey replied as the lady chuckled and turned to Natalia.
  • “Trisha Amante” she said as she stretched her palm out to Natalia who wore a smile as well and took her hand.
  • “Natalia Deville” Natalia introduced herself too and Trisha chuckled.
  • “These fashion stores have always been under Corey’s jurisdiction and even during the tour week, he never comes here. Basically, except for the opening date two years ago; Corey hasn’t stepped foot in this store. And the second time he does, he brings a girl” Trisha said as Natalia laughed.
  • “Do I look like a girl to you?” Natalia asked as she chuckled and nodded.
  • “Then I’m actually one though” Natalia said as she chuckled while Trisha chuckled.
  • “Come with me, let’s get you dressed” Trisha said as Natalia nodded at Corey and the latter released her hand and Natalia started following Trisha as they got to a row of gowns.
  • “What’s the event?” Trisha asked as Natalia shrugged.
  • “I really don’t know but just me simple gowns” Natalia replied as Trisha turned to her.
  • “Simple? Corey has a lot of money; you don’t want to spend his money?” Trisha asked as she started removing gowns from the rack. Natalia chuckled as she smiled slightly.
  • “I think you are getting something wrong Trisha. I think you got it really wrong. I’m not some girl that he picked on the roadside for a one-night stand” Natalia said as Trisha turned to her with her eyebrow raised.
  • “And as for his money, I don’t need to spend his money on some petty gowns, after all I get it to spend it for the rest of my life” Natalia added as she collected the pile of gowns from Trisha and walked into the changing room leaving Trisha dazed before she chuckled.
  • “For the rest of your life? Are you kidding me?” she asked as she chuckled again before walking towards where Corey was seated. She seated beside him folding her arms and crossing her legs.
  • “She said she wanted simple gowns so I asked her if she didn’t want to spend your money, do you want to know what she said?” Trisha asked as she glanced at Corey who had thrown his head backwards and was closing his eyes, his arms folded as well.
  • “She said I was wrong about her. That she wasn’t some chick you picked up for a one-night stand and she wasn’t going to spend your money on some gowns because she was going to spend it for the rest of life. What’s that supposed to mean?” Trisha asked as she turned back to glance at Corey again and realized that a smile had already formed on his lips.
