Chapter 5

  • Natalia walked into the elevator and pressed her floor number while she leaned on the steel wall as the events that had just taken place a few minutes before rushed to her head. Natalia shocked herself by finding the whole affair funny. The elevator made a ‘ding’ sound and she stepped out of the elevator while walking towards her room. She swiped her card and punched in her pin before she opened the door and stepped inside.
  • The small apartment was exactly how she had left it. Piles of books scattered beside each other on the floor, the cartoon of pizza she had eaten before leaving for the club still lay on the floor unfinished.
  • She walked past the seating room and headed straight for her already chaotic bedroom. Without even bothering, she peeled the clothes on her body off herself as she pulled out her towel from the heap of clothes on her bed before walking into the bathroom.
  • She sat down in the bathtub and put on the tap relishing in the mixture of hot and cold water. The soap foamed in large heaps covering all over her body as Natalia threw her head backwards, her thoughts back to the decision she had taken before.
  • Natalia was really curious about why she had made that decision, she couldn’t even come up with just one reason why she would have wanted to marry a stranger and this stranger just happened to be one of the Amante’s and the most popular of them; Corey Amante.
  • Natalia had to admit, his charm and whole persona was way too attractive, she remembered her eyes gluing to a magazine that had him on the cover and she had ended up stealing the magazine from the cafe she was working at. Never in her life did she think she would not just run into him and meet him in person but that she would agree to marry him.
  • Natalia closed her eyes as she tried to think again. Was she really going to marry him or was she joking? Natalia released a sigh that she was holding, either ways; whether Corey was serious about getting married or not, she would know the next day.
  • Losing his tie as soon as he stepped back into the house, Corey immediately headed for the stairs; fatigue suddenly washing over him without warning made him sigh softly. He pushed the door of his bedroom open revealing a rather large bedroom enough to be turned into a small apartment. A king sized bed lay at a corner of the room and Corey was quick to remove his clothes and he dumped them neatly into the laundry basket. He grabbed his towel and stepped into the bathroom. Putting on the shower, water spluttered all over his body running from his head through his body to the tiles on the ground.
  • His thoughts immediately wandered to Natalia and Corey found himself cursing a little. He had no idea why he had asked her to marry him. It had to be the craziest thing he had ever done in his life. Ask a stranger to marry him and she as well was crazy enough to agree. The even more serious part for Corey was that even after making such a ridiculous decision, he didn’t feel repulsive or stupid or disgusted by himself or Natalia. His persona was too calm for the huge decision he had taken and Corey had zero ideas or reasons why he was like that. He turned off the shower and cleaned his body before changing into his pajamas and walked towards a door in his room; he pushed it open revealing a small study. A huge desktop computer was placed in the middle of the room while shelves containing books surrounded it.
  • A cup of steaming coffee was already on the table and Corey just grabbed the cup and sat down in front of the computer as he got back to work. Since he didn’t even check the time when he started working, he didn’t know how long he had worked or how much time had passed by the time he finished. A glance at the desktop computer told him that it was already a few minutes past 1am. He shut down the computer and returned to the bedroom to sleep.
  • Natalia yawned lightly as the Professor continued teaching them, his class had always been boring so the students had never really attached importance to him. Unlike other students who were talking and whispering during class, Natalia had her eyes glued to the Professor in front of the class but her mind was long gone. She was guessing if Corey would actually come to look for her after school or not. What if he didn’t come? Natalia realized all of a sudden that she was actually expecting him, she was actually anxious about the whole thing but it had just been a few hours since they met.
  • Natalia chuckled as she shook her head at herself berating herself for acting heads over heels for a man that except his name and the fact that he came from one of the richest families across the globe, she knew nothing.
  • “Why were you laughing?” the girl seated beside Natalia asked as Natalia turned to her puzzled while wearing a perfect innocent face.
  • “Did I laugh?” she asked as another girl nodded at her.
  • “You laughed,” she replied with a disgusted expression, making Natalia actually laugh.
  • “You wear those innocent expressions when you are guilty ha” the girl added as Natalia chuckled again.
  • “C’mon Anita, you're attacking me too much these days,” Natalia said as Anita shrugged.
  • “Because you keep getting on my nerves” Anita replied as Natalia wore a pained expression while holding her chest.
  • “Ouch...... that hurts very much, '' Natalia said as the first girl who had asked Natalia why she laughed shook her head at the duo.
  • “You two should try acting in a play; you’ll easily garner a lot of audience. Clowns” she said as she laughed lightly and shook her head.
  • “So, you haven’t even told us, how was the VVIP section yesterday, you didn’t get into trouble right?” the girl asked again as Natalia chuckled.
