Chapter 6

  • Sana's POV
  • I'm shocked after knowing the truth about Olivia and Alex's marriage. I'm not worried about the agreement right now. But all I care about is our company. Roshan has kidnapped Olivia so that Alex tells the truth of the scam by which he trapped Sid. And now we got to know that Alex and Olivia aren't in a serious marriage. Therefore, Alex will never do something to save Olivia. My head is pounding with hundreds of thoughts.
  • "Should I disclose the matter of your marriage to your father so that you can get your owing shares as soon as possible?" Daniel asks.
  • Sid doesn't reply to him. He lowers his head, joining him both hands with his forehead. He must be thinking about his mom. If she gets to know about our marriage, she'll create a scene. And if we tell her that our marriage is fake, she will surely tell the truth to his father.
  • After a long break, Sid finally looks up to Daniel.
  • "Sure. I want my shares as soon as possible," he replies.
  • "I'll talk to him about it," Daniel leaves the chair as he collects the agreement. "Sorry for interrupting in your dinner moment again"
  • We smile at him as he takes an exit. Sid is still lost in his thoughts as I jerk him.
  • "I need to warm up the food again," I chuckle.
  • "Sure," he says in a blank voice.
  • I carry the plates of lasagna and proceed to the kitchen. It's already 11 pm. He must be very hungry. I place those plates inside the microwave oven and adjust the timing. I jump into my thoughts again.
  • A few minutes ago we both were happy at our upcoming victory. Now we are in a kind of insecurity. First, Alex doesn't love Olivia and he'll not save Sid in exchange for saving Olivia. Second, finally Sid's mother Lydia will get to know about our marriage. Though it's fake, we can't tell the truth to her. I can tolerate her humiliations for the sake of Sid. Because without him there's no one in the world for me.
  • My chain of thought breaks as I hear Sid yelling from the dining room
  • "Something is burning," he yells.
  • I panic as I look at the oven. I immediately open it and hold the plate without wearing gloves. I cry out in pain and Sid rushes to me in the kitchen.
  • "Sano," he screams as he sees my hand turning red. He reaches out my hand and grabs it.
  • "What the heck were you doing? Are you blind or deaf or what?" he yells at me while examining my burnt skin.
  • I can't react to anything but keep hissing in pain. He pulls me near the water tap and turns it on as he holds my hand beneath the tap. Water flushed upon my wound.
  • "Keep it like this," he alarms and goes to the refrigerator. I can hardly say anything. I focus on my wound. It's turning redder with every passing second.
  • He returns to me and turns off the tap, grabs my waist tightly and lifts me as he makes me sit on the counter. Taking my hand, he applies an ice cube to the burnt area.
  • "Ahh!!" I hiss in pain. He raises his eyebrows as he looks at me, pissed by this.
  • He was tense. He was hungry too. And now I did this foolishness.
  • Soon my pain starts reducing. The burnt place becomes numb as the ice affects it.
  • "What were you doing? Will you tell me? You are not new in the kitchen. Didn't you know it would be hot?" he says as I sense the care for me in his voice. I was so busy with my wound that I couldn't witness his care for me properly. I smile at him before he looks at me.
  • "I was thinking about something," I mumble.
  • "What?" he asks as he looks at me. "What were you thinking so important that you burnt your hand?"
  • "I.. I was just thinking that what if Alex doesn't come forward to save Olivia. We have thought that we would blackmail him so that he takes back all the allegations he made on you to save his wife. And...," I take a break and speak again.
  • "And what if Lydia finds out about our marriage. What will she do?"
  • I struggle to complete my statement as Sid gazes at me.
  • "Have I told you to think about all this?" He charges me as he stops applying ice cubes on my wound and goes to the kitchen cabinet to take out burnol.
  • "All of these are my problems, Sano. If Alex doesn't clear my image to save Olivia, it'll be me to face the consequences. If mom gets to know about this marriage, I'll not let her utter a single word against you. You are my only support system, Sana. You always messed up yourself while handling my life. I won't let you be harmed for me"
  • His words give me a kind of relief that I can hardly get. Whenever he admits that I'm his only support system it makes me feel special. I'm special to him. He cares for me. Every time he reminds me that there's no one special in his life except for me. I wish I would be satisfied with this.
  • However, from the day we made a fake marriage certificate and faked to be a couple in front of Daniel everything changed. I started feeling the relationship. Relationship of a husband-wife. Though I too hadn't believed in love and marriages because of my unhealthy childhood, I have started feeling good whenever I think about serious relationships. I'm not sure that I'm in love with him. Yet I really want a relationship like a husband-wife with him.
  • "It's not only about you, Sid. It's about us. You may have another family to consider but I don't. I don't know what's between us. But you're my family"
  • I confess that as Sid looks at me without blinking his eyes. We have intense eye contact as he completes applying burnol on my wound.
  • "Don't wash your hands for the next 2 hours," he says ignoring my statement. I wanted him to say something about me. I really wanted to know what I am to him.
  • "And I can officially have a family with my gipsy family members. That doesn't mean they are worthy enough to be mentioned as family. You should know that you too mean a lot to me. A family also," he completes his line as he turns around and takes out a packet of bread.
  • His words are echoing in my mind. I knew he too feels the same for me but he never accepted. It was unexpected for me. I gather his words in my mind again and chanted them. I wish he had repeated his words. I would've listened to him for hours.
  • "Aren't you hungry? We'll have to finish dinner and talk to Alex. I hope he feels something for Olivia. Making a contract doesn't control one's feelings," he says as he applies butter on the bread.
  • Wait! What did he just say? Does he think that nobody has control over their emotions? He really believes that.
  • "I hope so," I say, climbing down the counter. "I'm sorry. I burnt the food"
  • "You should be sorry for burning your hand I guess," he replies. I smile at him as his phone rings inside his pocket.
  • "Will you attend the call?" he says, arranging the bread.
  • "Sure," I say, taking out his phone and receiving the call. "Hello"
  • "What the heck did you do with my wife? You bloody bastards," a sharp voice pinches my ears as I recognise him. Alex is barking on the call.
  • I look up at Sid as a smile of victory appears on my face. Sid is still busy making dinner. So I decided to deal with it.
  • "I asked what the heck you want?" Alex spits again.
  • "Who?" Sid asks as he looks at me. I blink my eyes to assure him that I'll handle it. He smiles at me and I walk away from the kitchen.
  • "Relax, Alex," I say in a calm voice as I walk outside.
  • "Relax? You are talking about relaxation? You bloody moron. Where's your so-called boyfriend? I know he had abducted my wife," He continues.
  • I feel a kind of peace inside me after the whole day. Finally, it's working.
  • "Really Alex? You seem so desperatete to know where your wife is," I smirk.
  • "See.. see, Sana," he mumbles. "She has nothing to do with all this. Olivia is innocent. You know it right? Why drag her? And why the fuck Sid dragged you into this? Sid And I have always been the same to each other. Was that even necessary to drag an innocent girl into this?" he pleads.
  • I feel a little bad for him. I feel a kind of concern in his voice for Olivia. However, it can't change me. I'm the most ruthless version of myself. The way I get along with Sid is the opposite of the way I get along with others.
  • "Oh! Is that? Then why did you drag that innocent soul to trap Sid?" I shrug.
  • "It was... A mistake," he regrets doing that. He should. Though their marriage is fake too, he shouldn't tarnish his wife's dignity just to ruin Sid's company.
  • "It was not a mistake Alex. You did all this because she is your contract wife. You didn't care about her while doing all that shit," I spit. I'm in a state of both anger and disgust.
  • "What? How did you know?" he exclaims as I reveal that I know about their contract marriage.
  • "I have my ways Alex," I utter. "Now let's talk about business"
  • "Business? It's about my wife Sana. Not about business right now. Please tell me where she is. Let me talk to Sid," he urges.
  • "You'll get the same answers, same result if you talk to him. There's no difference between us," I add. "And one more thing, it's definitely about business Alex. You started it. Now listen to me very carefully. Fix everything"
  • "Fix what?" he mumbles.
  • "Fix the mess you created. Clean the shit," I raise my voice. You have 10 hours. Only 10 hours. Make a confession video. Confess that you've used your wife to accuse Sid as you wanted to take over his company," I demand.
  • "Sure. I.. I will," he struggles to say. This is the first time I've witnessed him as a helpless person. It feels good. Whenever I remember those days when Sid used to be depressed because of him, my blood boils. Finally, it's giving me peace while I hear Alex pleading helplessly.
  • "Good," I smirk.
  • "But Olivia," he mumbles. "When will you leave her?"
  • "After getting our work done," I reply.
  • "Do you promise me?" he asks helplessly.
  • "I do," I cut the call.
  • I've read somewhere 'Men are the strongest till they fall in love'
  • I don't know what Alex feels for Olivia. But he agreed to do whatever I instructed him. I think no other proof is needed to justify his love for her. Sid is still tough while tackling his emotions which clearly shows he isn't in love either. It can be my misconception also. I scold myself for thinking about this again. Sid was right. I have been unreasonable recently. I should stop behaving like this.
  • I walk inside as I notice Sid arranging the dining table again.
  • "What was keeping you so long? Another batch of food is getting cold here. Are we supposed to sleep without eating tonight?" he says as he looks up, pulling out a chair for me.
  • I love his sweet gestures towards me. Sometimes he behaves like an actual boyfriend. I take my seat as I smile back.
  • "Sorry. I was making a deal," I say.
  • "About what? Who was on call?" he asks as he takes his seat beside me?
  • "Alex," I reply, taking a bite from my sandwich. "It's yum"
  • "Alex?" he leaves his piece of bread as he looks at me surprisingly. He ignores my compliment for the sandwich.
  • "Yes. He was asking about Olivia. At first, he was barking like a mad dog," I say.
  • "See. I told you. There must be something. It's not easy when you live with someone for years and you don't have a little bit of feeling inside you," he says, having a bite.
  • I look at him astonished. It's unexpected for him to say something related to emotions or feelings. As he always talks about business and power. I don't react to it but I wanted to ask him if it's valid for us too.
