Chapter 44 In My Lifetime

  • After work, Mark fetched his wife to the company; he went to her office and sat down on the sofa. Victoria went to him and kissed him on the chin, “Honey, please give me five minutes. I want to finalize this report and send it to my dad.” Mark nodded his head; he took his phone and took a photo of his wife. He became angry when he thought about James' words. His wife rose her head up and said, “What is wrong?” Mark told her that James said he wanted to compete fairly with him. Victoria sent the report to her father and sat on the sofa next to her husband and held his arm. “Don’t be angry my love, James came to see me, but I rejected him. I told him that he must respect you as my husband. I will only love you in my lifetime. My heart will always be yours.” Mark was happy and kissed his wife fiercely, and then he released her. Victoria packed her stuff; she switched off the lights and they left the office hand in hand.
  • He opened the car door for her and fastened the seatbelt for her. He drove his car to the Lewis mansion. Victoria and Mark walked to the house; her relatives had already arrived. She greeted them and introduced Mark. Her cousins became excited when they saw the handsome brother-in-law. They wished that they could marry him. “You are such a handsome young man,” said Auntie Rebecca. She was Mr Lewis’ younger sister. She was a spinster. Mark smiled at her; Victoria’s cousins felt butterflies in their stomachs. “Wow, your smile makes me weak in my knees,” said Sylvia, one of the cousins. She stared at Mark as if she wanted to eat him up. Victoria was so upset; she held Mark’s arm and went to the kitchen with him. Her cousins were coveting her husband. Mark looked at his wife frowning, “What is wrong?” Victoria looked at him, “I’m so upset; they want to steal you away from me.” Mark hugged and kissed his wife, “Darling, no one can steal me away from you. I will love you until my last breath.” Victoria was so touched, tears welled up in her eyes, and she hugged her husband tightly.
  • They went back to the living room, and then her father arrived. He hugged his baby sister, Rebecca, and his nieces. He was so happy to see his younger sister. Their parents passed away when his sister was fifteen years old, they have two brothers in between. Rebecca was close to her second brother, Sylvia’s father. Butler Dave informed them that dinner was ready. They went to the dining room to eat. Mark was sitting between his father-in-law and his wife. Victoria’s cousins were ogling Mark, but he ignored them. He put food on her plate and said, “Eat more.” Victoria giggled and looked at her husband lovingly. Her cousins were annoyed to see their affection. After dinner, Victoria walked her husband to the car, “Please drive safely and let me know when you arrive.” Mark hugged and kissed his wife and drove away.
