Chapter 7

  • ~ Lolita ~
  • My beautiful Andrea, she looks so calm and angelic, and I wonder what had happened to her in her garden.
  • I know I may be overreacting but I just cannot help it. I am her mother and would want to protect her at all costs. I should protect her at all times.
  • She is yet to wake, and from my observation, she doesn’t appear to be harmed in any way. She has always been able to defend and protect herself. In the actual sense, she had already begun to defend and protect the entire pack even at her little age.
  • But this realization does not put my mind at ease at all. I am a mother, her mother, and should be the one doing all the protecting. I just can’t help it.
  • As I watched her calm disposition, my mind wandered to the past, and I started to recollect all the amazing things my girl had done ever since she was born. But despite how intriguing her power appears, her father, my mate, the alpha of Great Crest Pack, had always been uneasy about her powers. He always seemed as if it only speaks of a greater evil, an evil that is yet to be manifested.
  • I wish I could get him to tell me whatever he knows, or what his fears are. But my attempt at that had been fruitless, completely futile. In fact, my inquisition only seems to draw us further apart, and now, the bond we share is almost none existent.
  • It was never like before when we were so close and inseparable, keeping nothing from each other and being the best couple to the envy of all others. Now, our bond keeps diminishing with each passing day. Remembering those loving moments made me smile faintly.
  • I had done all I could to draw us closer, but now I think I should allow him to be. I haven’t given up though, but some things are better left as they are and this is definitely one of those.
  • Suddenly Andrea groaned, and I thought she was about to wake. I touched her neck and realized she is beginning to get warm.
  • “Andrea” I called her, and when she did not respond, I called again in a whisper. “Darling, are you okay?”
  • However, she did not respond, and so I realize that she must have gone back to sleep.
  • It gladdened my heart to know that my little girl is going to be okay. I can’t wait to see her on her feet once again running around and living her happy life. She is such a carefree angel, and she has done no wrong to anyone. And so she should be allowed to live just like other children her age.
  • After a while, the door opened but I did not turn to see who it was as I already knew from the scent that it was the alpha and his beta, Xander that had just entered.
  • Xander is the beta of the pack, and he has been a wonderful fellow all along. And the truth is amidst all the turbulence in the packhouse, he is the only one that keeps me sane.
  • I looked up at them and saw that Andrew looks very worried. His countenance made it appear as if Andrea was going to die. I could not help but think that he was overreacting, and I wonder why he always reacts this way at any little thing that has to do with Andrea. She is a strong girl and she has shown that to us in so many ways. On my part, I would suggest that we do not worry ourselves too much for her as the moon goddess would always take care of her.
  • “How is she doing, luna?” beta Xander asked.
  • “Hopefully, she would wake soon. Her temperature has come down to normal” I replied
  • Andrew moved closer to the bed. He knelt down by the side of the bed and stared at Andrea.
  • “She is just an innocent pretty little girl” he whispered to no one but himself. “My Andrea, my princess,” he added.
  • “What happened to her?” I asked for the first time.
  • “Obviously the hot sun, it is too hot out there for her to be all alone in her garden” Andrew answered. “She would be fine. No need to worry much, my dear” he went on to assure me.
  • But his words sound as though he was actually trying to convince himself and assured himself that everything would be alright with Andrea. It worries me to know that he is this anxious over her.
  • “Yes, she would be, luna. She looks so calm. I think she suffered from exhaustion or maybe sunburn or dehydration” beta Xander added.
  • “Seems like that” I replied.
  • Andrea groaned again, and this time she opened her eyes then she looked around the room and smiled at each of us.
