Chapter 9

• By the time Zurie opened her eyes, meeting the familiar room décor and warm feeling, she realised that she was in her room and relief washed through her before she froze again. Memories of the previous night rushed into her head and Zurie managed to sit on the bed praying that whatever might have happened was a dream. Just as she was thinking, there was a knock on her room door.
• “Come in,” Zurie muttered quietly. The door opened and her mother let herself in with her dad behind her.
• “Hey baby girl” her mom started walking to her to hug her but Zurie was quick to shrink away from her freezing her mother in place.
