Chapter 17

• “Connor!” Monica happily exclaimed but furrowed her brows at the countless curses and questions aimed her way through the phone. She sighed and glanced at Adam. He was carefully watching her. Was he also listening?
• She frowned and stepped away from him, heading to another part of the drugstore. “I'm fine, I'm fine. Stop worrying.” After a bit of silence she barked, “Stop it, you idiot! I can't understand anything you're saying!”
• She put a box of cream in her basket and halted. “What...? Somebody was looking for me? They had trashed my house?”
