Chapter 48

  • “They’re deciding whether or not to kill me?” I restated in disbelief. “But I’m an alpha!” I exclaimed, as if that fact would make a difference.
  • Dakarai shrugged off my title. “Sorcerers don’t concern themselves with the politics of wolves. We live too long and see too many alphas come and go to deem each and every one of you a powerful and important existence.”
  • I was stumped at that, because it did make sense. Sorcerers lived for eons, the lives of wolves were nothing but a tiny bleep in their regularly scheduled program. Our time here on this earth feels long to us, and yet is nothing but a quick moment in their lives. It made me see Grandpa Aaron in a different light knowing that for himMama’s death, hell my death, would come to him just as quick as his first meeting with us. One day we would all be gone, leaving Grandpa Aaron to shoulder the pain of losing all of his family- save Cerys, who would probably be his only salvation.
