• While doing so, Mrs. Willard fiddled with her handbag and gradually turned her attention away from Elliot and back to Nora.
• Her frown lines were knitted together in anguish. "You should know by now, Nora, that I despise people who make promises then go back on them, and you are exactly that kind of person! What was it that I instructed you to do when you were younger? If you make a promise to someone, you should always keep it, but look at you now! You disappoint me!"
