Chapter 2

  • The enormous door of a large sitting room slowly opened under the cold gaze of a couple and a young girl standing with their hands clutched to their chest as they awaits the arrival of the person pushing the door.
  • Nora Willard was speechless when she saw the couple, who had such formidable gazes standing in the living room with their expressions mobbed with anger.
  • She hadn't expected to see the couple standing in the living room at this time of the day. Moreover, it was too early for their usual wakes.
  • Nora switch the expression on her face and pretended to be happy seeing them there.
  • Even though she knew it wouldn't be easy to convince these people.
  • However, just before she says anything, her father, Gilbert Willard threw a question at her and she stopped in her tracks with her heart trembling with fear.
  • “Do you think you have become such a dignified heiress without controls? How dare you return to this house at this time of the day? ” Gilbert Willard asked, he was fuming with anger and his eyes glint with bitterness as he spoke.
  • “I....I really didn't mean..”
  • Nora Willard stammered and she could finish her words before she was immediately interrupted.
  • “Cat got your tongue? You don't have words to say your shameless indeed? I mean do you have anything to say about your ill actions?” Tessa Warner, Nora's mother asked as she glared at the young girl with a ferocious gaze.
  • It felt as if she was about to devour the girl with her mere gaze. The look on her face was so ferocious, that it felt as if it was capable of infiltrating her skin.
  • Clearly not satisfied with the young girl, she hated her guts.
  • “it's not what you think mother, it was late by the time I realize what the time it was. Because of this, I stayed back at the hotel with Cecilia....I'm sorry, I made you all worry about me” Nora Willard said apologetically.
  • “Really? It's not what we think? Will you teach us what to think then?” Tessa Warner flares up.
  • “Nora Willard, are you lying to us? ” Gilbert was starting to get mad as he asked the question.
  • Nora was confused by his question but she didn't dare to linger too much on this matter. However, her eyes widen in shock when she saw her best friend Cecilia Emerson descending the stairs with her shoes in her hands.
  • “Cecilia? Why is she here? She told me she was staying back at the hotel with her boyfriend, right? What's going on?” Nora thought as she looked towards the figure of her best friend, Cecilia.
  • “I wouldn't dare to lie to you, dad. I'm telling you the entire truth”
  • Soon enough, Cecilia Emerson was standing in front of her with a smile.
  • “Nora, you are back? I thought you weren't done having fun with the lucky man of the night yet, why did you come back so early then?” Cecilia asked.
  • Her tone was filled with hints and her words were disdainful.
  • “What are you talking about, Cecilia? What man of the night? I was with you, right? What are you saying to me?” Nora was bewildered
  • “With me? Are you purposely trying to frame me, Nora? You told me to go back home last night since you got a catch for the night. After that, I didn't linger around anymore and came back home with Nancy” Cecilia insisted.
  • Nora felt her head throbbing with a headache when she heard the level of accusation labeled on her.
  • “ father....I didn't say anything like that. Cecilia and I were in the room but she left to go see her boyfriend while I waited for her return but she didn't come back and..and she even sent me a text that she wouldn't come back for the night”.
  • At the mention of the text last night, Nora quickly brought out her phone and tried to look for the message that she received from Cecilia.
  • Her expression drooped when she couldn't find any messages even after searching her phone frantically.
  • What's going on here? How did the messages got deleted?
  • Nora simply couldn't believe what was happening to her right now.
  • With no evidence to prove her points, Nora became excited about this.
  • “Daddy, I'm telling you the truth. Cecilia and I were together but I didn't know how fast the time was spent That's why I couldn't come back home alone”.
  • “Nora, are you purposely trying to say that I left you alone in the hotel? You know I wouldn't do that. You are not really a good social figure and I know this was your first time going in the public, I wouldn't have left you alone without your consent, Nora”. Cecilia said with a calm voice and her words were meticulously decided.
  • Even though it felt as if she was trying to help her out of the situation. She was indirectly pushing her into the mud even more than ever.
  • Her words show that Nora was really excited to be in a public place after staying in the countryside since the beginning of her life.
  • She had only gone for the first time, so it was possible her desires were ignited at the sight of the handsome, masculine men at the hotel and she lost all her dignity henceforth.
  • “Why don't you admit the truth already, Nora? You were so audacious to think that we would believe anything that you say. Both Cecilia and Nancy came back home, but you, being a silly country pumpkin, you were too eye hungry to return.....I told you already, Gilbert, this girl will be the end of us”
  • Tessa Warner said. Her gaze linger on Nora as she said these words.
  • “That's enough, Tessa. There is nothing to worry about anyway. Nora is back home without a stain. Let's prepare for more important stuff now”. Gilbert waved his hands dismissively and was about to let go of the matter.
  • However, just as he turned his back to go back upstairs, he heard a loud outcry from behind.
  • “It's all my fault that you suffered such grave trauma, Nora. I should have known better and protected you with my life”
  • Nancy Willard, who had been silent all this time, suddenly spoke up.
  • Then she walked close to her sister with a pitiful expression that could melt anyone's heart.
  • Nora was immediately touched by her kindness and looked at her with gratitude.
  • Gilbert looked at his two daughters and felt proud to have such a great daughter like Nancy, who was both excellent and dignified.
  • “What are you going on about, Nancy? It's not your fault that this unfilial child didn't know when to stop. Quit blaming yourself and let her take responsibility for her actions. She will get spoiled and blame you in the future if you continue to pamper her like this”
  • Tessa Warner snorted and said, she was convinced by the result of this event.
  • She wanted to make sure that Nora really takes the fall this time.
  • “Mommy, you don't know how innocent Nora really is. I'm sure, she just missed her way since this was her first time in a public place since she came back from the countryside, don't blame her too much this time, she will learn” Nancy solicited for her sister, Nora. Then she beamed at her.
  • Nora smiled back at her with a sweet smile. Gilbert was delighted immediately.
  • However, the expression on his face immediately froze the next second.
  • Nancy pulled Nora into a warm hug after soliciting for her. Tightening her grip around the young girl, Nancy sneakily peeled off the top that covers her sister's white neck.
  • Immediately, the expression on everyone's fave froze.
  • Nora's neck, which was usually white was now covered with blue and purple love bites that left a huge scar all over her fair neck.
  • Nora, unaware of the puzzling expressions on everyone's face disengages from the huge with a wide smile on her face.
  • “What...What are those marks..where did you get those?” Gilbert Willard stuttered at the sight of those bright purple marks on her body.
  • His eyes widen at the realization of what marks they were.
  • Nancy pretended to be oblivious to the question being asked as she lurked around under her dignified status and asked.
  • “What marks, daddy? I don't have any marks on me and I didn't get injured at the party either” Nancy said.
  • “Not you, I'm talking about Nora... How did you get those love.....”
  • Afraid that he might influence the girls negatively, Gilbert didn't dare blurt out his words without caution.
  • He simply narrowed his gaze and toned down the tone of his voice before asking the question once again, “I will ask you once again, Nora and I need nothing but the truth this time. You better not lie to me, how did you get those purple marks on your neck? Have you been fooling around without cautions?”
  • Gilbert Willard asked. His eyes flickered with anxiety and his voice trembled with anger, his entire body shook with fear.
  • Nora trembled at this scene.
