Chapter 8 A Sudden Kiss

  • Since Liang Yimo didn’t have the time for grocery shopping this morning, the fridge at home was empty, so she decided to go to the fruit supermarket to buy some fresh fruit to fill up the fridge.
  • Now that her best friend, Su Manxue, wasn’t staying with her, from today onward, she would have to live in this rented apartment on her own.
  • Although she felt lonely, she could still live her life comfortably.
  • At the fruit supermarket, Liang Yimo picked out some dragon fruits, bananas and apples before carrying the bag to the counter for weighing and checking out.
  • Just when she took out her purse and was about to pay, a large slim hand handed a 100 note to the cashier.
  • “Here’s your change of a total of 50. Thank you and come again,” the female cashier said with a smile while handing the change to the person who paid.
  • Startled, Liang Yimo traced her eyes along that hand to the owner.
  • “Miss, your boyfriend is so handsome!” the female cashier looked at Liang Yimo with a smile before averting her gaze to the man beside her while exclaiming in astonishment.
  • That man was indeed extremely good-looking!
  • His handsome face was just like a portrait painted by a court painter; the lines on his face were defined and he had impeccable, sculpted features.
  • He was wearing an army uniform and army boots, and the uniform showed off his broad shoulders, slim waist and slender legs. He looked like a reserved person.
  • He towered over Liang Yimo by a good head and a half.
  • “You—”
  • “Come with me!”
  • Before Liang Yimo could finish her sentence, that man extended his large hand and grabbed her delicate hand and suddenly pulled her out of the fruit supermarket.
  • “Who are you? Let me go!”
  • Liang Yimo carried the bag of fruits in one hand while struggling to get her other hand out of the man’s grip. However, she was helplessly dragged forward by the man, unable to stop.
  • It felt like years although he had only just met her yesterday. He missed her dearly already.
  • Yet, of course Liang Yimo couldn’t understand the man’s current emotions. She even grumbled and wondered if the man was crazy.
  • She didn’t know him at all!
  • The man stopped and turned around, causing Liang Yimo to bump into his chest.
  • As soon as she raised her head, he lowered his head and kissed her.
  • He was domineering and strong.
  • His heart was pounding, his breath rapid, and everything was sweeped out of Liang Yimo’s mind.
  • This familiar scent…
  • It was just like the man from last night…
  • The man hugged her tightly, devoting all his warmth, sincerity, and passion to kiss her.
  • Liang Yimo flailed, doing all she could to push this impudent man away from her.
  • “Ouch!”
  • Suddenly, the man let her go and clutched his abdomen in pain.
  • Stunned, Liang Yimo suddenly realized that he was the man from last night; the wounded man who crawled into her house.
  • “You…” Liang Yimo didn’t know what to do. She wanted to shout at the man for his impudence, but looking at his ghastly pale face that was in pain, she felt rather guilty. Therefore, she swallowed back her words. “Sigh. Forget it! I’m sorry I accidentally hit you. Why don’t you let me look at the wound on your abdomen?”
  • Why did he suddenly kiss her for no reason?!
  • Initially, Liang Yimo was really annoyed, but considering the fact that she accidentally hurt the man’s abdomen wound, her rage diminished even though she wanted to get angry. Therefore, she decided not to fuss with him.
  • “I’m fine but I can’t stay long. I planned to visit you back at the mansion but the butler told me that you went out so you’re not at home. I went to the hospital to get my dressings changed and unexpectedly ran into you here. Therefore, we must be destined for each other. Darling, you have to wait for me. After I settle my business in a few days, I’ll be able to accompany you every day,” while talking affectionately, Leng Yechen lifted his hand and stroked Liang Yimo’s head.
  • What should he do?
  • It seemed like he had truly fallen in love with this woman who saved him.
  • It was love at first sight, and his love only deepened with each subsequent meeting.
  • Leng Yechen never thought that he would fall head over heels overnight, hopelessly sinking into this overly tacky thing that was love, unable to escape.
  • He had only met her in the last 24 hours, but it felt like he had known her for his whole life.
  • Perhaps, deep down, he felt like he had once met her before.
  • Perhaps due to that feeling, he had always been waiting for her to appear.
  • However, Liang Yimo could only gape at Leng Yechen. She couldn't understand a single word that man was saying.
  • “Darling, I have to go. Goodnight. Tell the driver to send you home earlier, and don’t let me worry about you.” After that, Leng Yechen bent down and gently kissed the center of Liang Yimo’s forehead.
  • Liang Yimo was completely befuddled. Before she could ask what he meant, he swiftly turned around and jumped over the parterre. In a clean move, he hopped into an army green off-road vehicle that was parked beside the road, the rear door of which had been opened by someone inside.
  • Clunk. Right after the door closed, the army green off-road vehicle sped off.
  • He was rushing, and he was so short on time that he didn’t even give her a chance to ask anything.
  • Raising her hand, Liang Yimo clapped her forehead. She felt pain, which meant that what happened just now was not a dream.
  • And, what was wrong with that man?
  • He forcibly kissed her as soon as he came over and even spoke to her without rhyme or reason.
  • Since he was safe and sound, he shouldn’t have returned to find her!
  • And that army green off-road vehicle she saw just now had a white car plate, which meant that it was a military vehicle.
  • Could it be that he was someone from the military?!
  • Liang Yimo was only randomly guessing. Yet, she didn’t put that man on her mind for too long.
  • Perhaps he was just grateful that she saved him, and he didn’t mean any harm to her.
  • After getting back into the car, Leng Yechen grazed his finger across his lips, seemingly reminiscing something.
  • His comrade, Han Jianfeng, patted his shoulder and pouted his lips while he teased, “Yechen, do you think I didn’t see anything from inside the car? How was it? Does the girl’s lips taste sweet?”
  • At once, Leng Yechen put on a poker face and shot daggers at Han Jianfeng with his sharp obsidian eyes.
  • Han Jianfeng couldn’t help it. He raised his hand and zipped his lips, expressing that he would shut his mouth.
  • Not long after, before Leng Yechen started his second mission of today, he sent a message to the butler at Hill Mansion, Mr. Liu, asking if Su Manxue was home.
  • Soon, Mr. Liu replied, informing him that Young Mistress Su had safely reached home, and she even bought bags of expensive limited edition clothes.
  • Well, he was fine with that as long as she was happy.
  • After Leng Yechen typed that sentence and sent it to Mr. Liu, he turned off his phone.
  • Losing her best friend was the saddest thing Liang Yimo experienced after stepping into the real world. However, she didn’t expect that the second saddest thing would follow soon after Su Manxue had left for a week.
  • Liang Yimo thought she could peacefully go through her internship at her company.
  • Then, she could become a permanent employee of the company after she graduated from university. Unexpectedly, she was fired by the newly appointed female boss of the company.
  • And, she was fired for no reason!
  • As the saying went, ‘a new broom sweeps clean’. The female boss, who had never made an appearance, announced, “Layoff all the interns of the company!”
