Chapter 20 Your Heart’s Beating Really Quickly, Uncle Arthur

• Erin was taken aback by his sudden gesture, and she held her breath as she glanced at Arthur. “We’ll hand him over to you now, Erin. Leo and I have other matters to handle, so we’ll have to leave now.” Marvin’s warm voice came from outside the car. Erin blinked before she turned around to look out of the car. She watched as Marvin dragged Leo’s arm over to get into a different car.
• Soon enough, that car drove past Arthur’s Maybach and left. Erin turned back to Arthur and called for him gently. “Uncle Arthur.” Arthur kept his eyes shut, but his grip on Erin tightened before he tugged her arm forward. Unprepared, Erin immediately fell forward into his arms. Her cheek was pressed against his chest where the low, muffled sound of his racing heart filled her eardrums. Her eyelids fluttered as she called him once again. “Uncle Arthur.”
