Chapter 16 My Future Aunt’s a Lucky Woman

  • After four long hours of work, Erin finally completed her 10,000-word long reflective report at 11 PM. She flung her pencil back into her pencil box before she massaged her sore right wrist. She picked her essay up, stretched a little, then left her bedroom to go next door. Arthur was usually still awake at this hour.
  • As usual, Erin barged into the room next door without remembering to knock. “Uncle Arthur, I…” She then realized that he wasn’t in the room. Could he be in the study? Right as she turned around to head out of the room, she heard the sloshing sound of water coming from the toilet. Is Uncle Arthur taking a bath? She widened her eyes and turned toward the bathroom before she shut the bedroom door and hopped right onto Arthur’s large bed. She spread her reflective report out on the bed and began to admire her own work. Honestly, I think I have the talent to be an author in the future. I put so much emotion into writing this essay; it’d be a shame if I don’t write a book in the future.
  • The sound of water in the bathroom came to a halt then. Erin hurriedly scrambled up onto her feet before she stood herself beside the bed in a prim and proper manner. If I behave myself, maybe Uncle Arthur won’t be as strict when he goes through my report later, she thought. The bathroom door opened with a ‘creak’. “Uncle Arthur…” The rest of her sentence was caught up in her throat after she called out for Arthur. She widened her eyes and gawked at the man in front of her as if she had just seen a ghost walk out of the bathroom.
