Chapter 14 Signs of Falling in Love for the First Time

  • Failing to notice someone’s instantly darkened expression, Leo leaned on the car window of the back seat while looking at Erin with a smile, saying, “Wow, Erin is showing signs of falling in love for the first time.”
  • Sitting in the passenger seat, Marvin stuck his cigarette-holding hand out of the car window and flicked off the cigarette ash with his index finger. “That boy is Edward Sutton’s only son. Edward is intent on training him as the Sutton Family’s successor in politics to preserve the family’s involvement in politics for generations.”
  • “He’s actually Edward Sutton’s son? That’s not bad. He is quite good-looking and comes from a nice family. He’s not really a perfect match for Erin, but I guess he’ll do,” commented Leo.
  • Glancing at the darkening face of the person next to him, Marvin raised his brow for a moment without provoking the man further.
  • Other people might not know about Arthur’s yearning for Erin, but he was well aware of it… Arthur’s feelings for Erin were already out of the former’s control.
  • “Hey, look at Erin’s expressions and bashful gestures! Aren’t those telltale signs of her falling in love? Ouch—”
  • The car started up and drove off before Leo could finish his sentence. Caught unprepared, he bumped his chin on the car window, causing him to cry out in pain.
  • He barely kept his body from swaying by grabbing the handle immediately. Then, he glared at the man who was still slamming on the gas pedal in the driver’s seat with a look of bafflement.
  • After a long time, he adjusted to this speed with some difficulty. Dumbfounded, he then turned to look at Marvin, who was sitting in the passenger seat. “What’s going on?”
  • Marvin shrugged while throwing Leo a look of sympathy.
  • Leo was rendered speechless.
  • At 5.00 PM, everyone took the school bus back to school first before going their separate ways.
  • Instead of taking the school bus arranged by the school, Isabelle left first on her motorcycle.
  • Therefore, it seemed natural that Erin ended up leaving with Jude.
  • Jude looked at Erin after they got off the school bus. Staring at her carefully as if afraid of being refused, he offered, “M-May I send you home?”
  • Send me home? Erin’s eyes widened slightly. “There’s no need for that.”
  • Won’t my cover be blown if he sends me home?
  • Jude’s handsome face instantly flushed with embarrassment when Erin turned him down without hesitating.
  • At the sight of his response, Erin bit her lower lip in frustration. She explained to him, “Please don’t misunderstand me; I don’t mean anything by it. It’s just that someone else will come to school in a while to pick me up, so…”
  • “I understand that.” Jude was instantly relieved upon hearing her explanation. “In that case, I’ll be here with you to wait for the person who’s supposed to pick you up.”
  • Erin wanted to say that this wasn’t necessary, but it occurred to her that it was probably bad for her to turn him down again after she had just turned him down. Therefore, she gave a slight nod of tacit consent.
  • Erin and Jude had barely spoken to each other, but for some reason, Erin felt especially comfortable and stress-free when she was with him.
  • About 20 minutes later, the car that came to pick Erin up stopped not far from them.
  • Erin glanced in the car’s direction before looking at Jude. She said, “They’ve arrived. Thank you for waiting with me.”
  • Jude stared at her with bright and clear eyes before responding slowly, “Actually, you don’t have to be so polite to me. I’m happy that you let me keep you company.”
  • Erin’s face blushed visibly as she raised her hand, saying, “I’ll be leaving then.”
  • With that, she ran toward the car without waiting for his answer.
  • Jude couldn’t help grinning in a silly manner as he looked at Erin’s slim figure from behind.
  • Erin ran to the back seat, but she paused for a moment when she reached out and grabbed the door handle. She raised her eyes to glance at Jude, only to see him still standing on the same spot. Jude, on the other hand, raised his hand and waved to her when he saw her looking at him.
  • Erin’s face blushed even more. Lightly biting her lower lip, she opened the car door and got into the car.
  • She had just sat down in the soft seat when a man’s deep and cold voice suddenly spoke from the side. “Is he your schoolmate?”
