Chapter 6

  • I remained looking out the window even though I felt him fixing my seatbelt.
  • "We'll dine at a five-star restaurant, then I'll drive you home."
  • That is so different to my plans. It will be hard for me to escape if we're in a restaurant with fewer people. It's much better if we're going to eat in a place with a lot of people.
  • Just like that, my mind had already thought of another plan. I pouted, but smirked afterwards. Maybe I can still change the reception venue. Maybe we can eat in a place with a lot of people.
  • I cleared my throat and faced him. He was seriously looking at the road, and it was clear to me how defined his jaws were. He raised his brows slightly, and if I'm not mistaken, he's not quite thirty. He looked mature, but maybe because of his work.
  • He stopped the car because of the heavy traffic. That is when I look at the surroundings and forget about my plan. Maybe I can go out now and run away from him. The traffic is heavy and there's no way he'll leave his car and chase me.
  • I cleared my throat again, then held the car door. I took a quick glance at him and he was just quietly looking in front. His lips were even lifted a little, just as if he was thinking of beautiful things. His hands were calmly holding the stirring wheel.
  • This is the chance. I am sure he won't notice if I have already opened the car door.
  • I closed my eyes and tried to open the door. And yet, I was disappointed after knowing that it was locked. I tried a few more times but ended up failing. It was really locked.
  • "I told you, I know what's on your mind, baby. Try harder," he uttered, then smirked as he drove the car when the traffic moved as well.
  • I bit my lip out of annoyance. I looked at him angrily and hit his dashboard with my hand. And yet, he didn't move a bit.
  • "We didn't talk about reception, Delton! And I don't want to eat in a five-star restaurant!"
  • "Hmm. So where do you want to eat, Savvy?
  • He squinted his eyes as he looked at the road, and pouted a little, as if he didn't take my words seriously. But still, I still have one chance to escape and to start a new life. I also want Andres to follow me if I get a stable life. How I wish it was Andres that I married!
  • "I want to eat fastfood. Inside of the Mall."
  • "Alright. Fastfood and Mall, Mrs. Carancho," he uttered like he just played my name on his tongue.
  • I almost have goosebumps because of that. I kept my mouth shut as it was pleasing to hear in my ears, but of course I won't admit it, especially since his voice ran through my skin.
  • My mind had already made up another plan after seeing the mall. I will let him order for us so that I can escape without his knowledge. I will walk on the side and run as fast as I can. I will ride a jeepney and let the driver take me wherever the jeepney stops.
  • I smirked again at my plan. I have regained my energy again. I even acted innocent as we entered the mall. We walked right into the fast food restaurant, where there were a lot of people eating and waiting in line. I stopped myself from resisting when he held my wrist and guided me to the corner table. I calculated the distance from the main entrance to it, and yeah, I can walk that fast!
  • "Stay here. I will order."
  • I simply smiled and let him go to the counter. When I saw that he was already busy ordering, I tightly clutched my slingbag and abruptly stood up. I pushed the table a little away from me, bowed my head, and took a step.
  • And yet, after two steps, I already saw lots of pairs of black shoes on the floor. I stopped on track and looked up just to see that half of the crew were guarding me.
  • "Uhm. What's happening?" I asked innocently.
  • "You didn't behave, didn't you?" it was Delton's voice.
  • I saw him coming with the two crew that were holding the trays of food. With that, I irritatedly looked at him. It didn't even take him five minutes, and he came back immediately with this crew!
  • "Why? Am I not allowed to stand? " I argued
  • He cocked his head, making all the crew leave us alone. I even saw some customers looking our way because of what happened.
  • "If that's really your intention, but no, you want to escape, don't you?"
  • He sat down and arranged the food on the table.
  • "I mean, we're already married, so why escape?" he added.
  • "I'm not escaping-"
  • "Should I believe that? Wherever you will go, we're already married—"
  • "Fine! We're married! As in, married! And I am not complaining! "
  • He was silent for a while and just stared at me intently.
  • I don't care if we're married. All I wanted was to just escape, be free, and follow my dreams. I want to paint in a different place.
  • "Very married, Baby. And you are aware, Savvy, that if you escape, your parents will be arrested. I will be the one to put them in jail," he said coldly, as if he was the one who had sued them.
  • "What's the point of naming the company after your name "Sage" if you will only disappoint them?" he mocked.
  • I gulped and just sat quietly. It hurts me to think that my parents will suffer in jail. Maybe I can evacuate right after the dismissal of the case. Maybe by that time, Delton had already found someone he could marry for the second time around.
  • "Eat now. I'll send you home after this. Savvy, fix your things, sleep early, and wait for me when the sun rises."
