Chapter 4

  • My lips moved a little as my hand sweated. I felt my stomach getting cold, and my heart almost stopped beating with the tension. To think Delton Carnacho is waiting for me makes me want to run away out of fear.
  • My feelings didn't even calm down when I saw the Sweet Café. The surroundings were quiet, and there was no other car aside from that black Mercedes-Benz, black like Attorney Carancho's eyes!
  • My nervousness faded away after realizing that there were no customers inside. That means, no one will witness the signing of the contract. I abruptly removed my seatbelt, got out of the car, and went straight to the coffee shop. But my forehead knotted when I saw the chairs were all fixed on both sides of the cafe, and not only that, there was also a red carpet in the middle. I looked through the counter where I saw a demon standing. I mean, an attorney.
  • I am not sure if I am imagining things, but he looked like a good angel in his white three-piece suit. He even had that red rose on the side of his chest. And what shocked me more was to see the whole crew lining up at his side.
  • I walked quickly to scold him. As I remember, I only agreed to sign the freaking contract and not for this kind of event. Like, what the fuck the red carpet is doing there?
  • I was in a rage, but my feet automatically stopped in front of the red carpet.
  • "Stop right there, Savvy. We'll be having our wedding ceremony," he said as he clicked something on his laptop. That's when a wedding melody played in the background.
  • "The fuck-"
  • My words were halted when I felt the presence of Attorney Santiago beside me. He even put my hand on his arm carefully before he guided me to walk on the red carpet.
  • I wanted so badly to curse and punch the asshole who's standing at the end of the aisle, but I couldn't since Attorney Santiago walks so slowly. Does he want to finish the song first?
  • "Congratulations and best wishes, Ma'am Sage," he congratulated me when we reached the end and passed my hand to Delton.
  • I swallowed the lump in my throat when I felt his warm hand touching mine. Suddenly, I wanted to pull back my hand with the unknown feeling. His hand was calloused, and I wonder why, but that has warmed my being. His hand covered my small hand, which left me no chance of getting away.
  • I stared at our clasping hands. I don't know, but I felt a bit secure when he squeezed my hand a little. It feels like it wakes up those hidden butterflies in my stomach. I didn't even want to let go anymore, but when the song ended and was replaced by the voice of the priest, I felt mad.
  • I was disappointed and harshly pulled my hand. I am just lucky that he was listening carefully enough that I succeeded. But when he turned to me and furrowed his brows, I lost my bravery.
  • "Signjng of contract is I what I only agreed! Nothing of these! And I hate these!" I protested.
  • Instead of feeling guilty, he looked at me as if he didn't fucking care. My eyes followed as he opened his lips.
  • "I will only get married once, Savvy. And I want it to be special. Let me have peace at my wedding ceremony because this is the only time it will happen. Not again. If you don't like it, speak only when you're about to say 'I do.'"
  • I was tongue-tied again and ashamed. I had no idea that he was sentimental! I pursed my lips and, though it was against my will, I let the ceremony have its end. Like he said, I only spoke to that, "I do."
  • When he turned off the laptop, I planned to shout at him, but was stopped when he suddenly claimed my lips. My brows furrowed as his soft lips found their own rhythm. I took a step back and was about to fall if he didn't catch my waist expertly, fix his palm on there, and hold me tightly.
  • That's when I realized what he was doing. My eyes widened while my heart raced, and I won't deny that I enjoyed this moment. I enjoy how his lips take over mine. It was just seconds, and yet I felt like I was in another world. That tickled my stomach.
  • When he moved away, a proud smirk flashed on his lips, as if he had won over me. Maybe he doesn't have any plans to let go of my waist if I didn't take a step away from him.
  • "It's part of the ceremony, Baby. Kissing the bride is the most essential thing," he explained when he noticed that I was about to speak.
  • I looked away, feeling like a loser. I can't even look at the cafe staff because of embarrassment. I just carefully wiped my lips. That made him raise an eyebrow.
  • "Where's the marriage contract? I'll sign it," I requested just so this will end!
  • Attorney Santiago put down the marriage contract and a ballpen on the table. I didn't read it, and just signed it right away so I could run away immediately. But then, he came closer and placed another bond paper in front of me.
  • "And sign that long bond paper as well," he commanded, and that made me annoyed.
  • "The fuck? Why the hell I need to sign that?! Did I marry a hundred Delton Carancho?"
  • He arched his brow a little before he wore his signature smirk.
  • "No, but that is for emergency purposes only. If and only if, it crossed your mind to tear up the marriage contract, I still have your signature to make another one. There's no other way to escape, Savvy. I know what's on your mind."
  • I rolled my eyes at him and started signing on that bond paper. I thought that was all, but then he spoke again that made me furious.
  • "Tomorrow you'll move in with me-"
  • "The fuck?! That wasn't on the agreement—"
  • He looked at me dangerously, as if he wanted me to shut my mouth.
  • "Of course, it is part of marriage. What do you want, Savvy? Jack en poy? Hide and seek? Run, baby, run? You are my wife, then you should be with me. You'll move in with me. That's it, period."
