• Daniel practically throws me down onto the bed. Baxter perks up in the corner and gets up from his little dog bed, jumping up next to me and wagging his tail. He licks my face and yips happily. I scratch behind his ears just as he likes and he plops onto his belly, silently commanding me to rub it like a royal should. I giggle and attack him with love. "Hey baby! I missed you! Did you miss, Mama?" I coo at him in a baby voice and he barks happily. "I'll take that as a yes!"
• Daniel stares down at us and shakes his head. "Oh, no you don't. You aren't going to use that dog to get out of your punishment. Tell him to get off the bed."
