Chapter 5 Accusation

  • Chantria
  • I was enjoying myself while taking my breather on our way to the Maldives. It was quiet inside the plane and I could only hear the swishing of the wind. The plane was already flying above the clouds and it was too late for me to realize how many hours we had been inside. I was about to sleep but my rest was interrupted when a commotion took place where I was.
  • "Can you please calm your butt, Aiyara?" I exclaimed, calling Chanel by her second name, which by the way, she hated the most.
  • She glared at me. "My butt is always calm, Yvonne," she retorted. I didn't hate my second name, so I didn't take it as an insult.
  • "You've been fidgeting on your seat ever since we took flight. I know you're excited but can you calm down for a moment? Get lost in the Maldives.”
  • She snorted. "I'm not fidgeting. I'm simply taking selfies. What's wrong with that?"
  • "Then, can you please take a selfie quietly? How can you be so fidgety just capturing your Espasol face?”
  • "What?" she exclaimed. "My face is not Espasol!"
  • "Yes, it is."
  • "No, it's not."
  • We continued bickering and slapping each other's hands when someone beside me spoke. "If you're going to continue making noises, I will kick the two of you out of this plane right now."
  • Chanel and I immediately stopped slapping each other. However, the two of us have not stopped growing older. When I saw Leigh open her eyes slowly, I just closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep.
  • I didn't know what she did next to me but one thing was for sure, Chanel would be dead to me later.
  • This must have been the longest trip of my life because we spent a day and several hours in the car just to get to the Maldives from Canada. My ass was almost on fire because of the length of the trip. But I know that our three-day stay would be worth it, for sure.
  • "I told you. We should have ridden Dad's private plane," Chanel whined. "I feel like my butt is about to explode!"
  • "You don't have a butt, Aiyara," I teased.
  • She was about to throw her handbag at me but I immediately hid behind Leigh. She couldn't do anything but glare at me and raise her middle finger in my direction.
  • I just laughed while getting my suitcase. I would also annoy her for three days in this place. But of course, that was not my main goal. I had to enjoy this vacation as much as possible. I couldn't wait to go to the beach and then flex my newly built abs that I worked on for almost a few years.
  • "So," said Chanel, "we're staying at Meeru Island Resort and Spa. It's an island on the easternmost tip of North Male Atoll in the Maldives–“
  • Carleigh looked back at her. "Chanel, shut up. We don't have to hear that. Just tell us how to get there.”
  • She pouted before leading us outside for our ride. I couldn't help but laugh because she was always like that. It was a good thing that she knew a lot of things about something we didn't know. However, she didn't have to tell me everything. Sometimes, she was imparting pieces of information that we could instantly find on the internet.
  • We knew that she could memorize almost everything she sees for the first time, but no need to flex it all the time—especially not to us.
  • I took a deep breath and savored the smell of the beach when we reached the island. We even had to wear sunglasses because of the bright light coming from the scorching sun. I've also been trapped at home for a long time so I felt like my eyes couldn't handle the level of beauty possessed by this island.
  • The water was so blue that I could almost see the bottom of the sea even when we were just on board our private yacht. The weather was also beautiful and the sky was blue too. The sea and the sky were connected because of their color.
  • "Sorry, girls," said Chanel as she carried her luggage. "I think this is where we part ways. I'll enjoy my vacation, you enjoy yours. Bye!”
  • I was about to stop her but I stopped myself. I just smiled as I watched her walk to where we were going to stay.
  • Maybe it was a good thing, too. We have been together for several years and almost everything one does, everyone does. There was nothing wrong about doing something on our own. Sometimes, the faces of my twins were disgusting.
  • I faced Leigh who had just finished picking up the luggage. "What about you?" I asked.
  • "I'm going to the spa. You?”
  • "I'm going swimming. Enjoy!”
  • I didn't wait for her answer and went to our cabin first. Chanel must be where she is now. Vlogging.
  • It was not the right time to worry about her. I would make fun of her later because that was not the only reason I came here. I needed to enjoy this! We could only go to this island one and only once could we travel this far.
  • Wearing my red two-piece bikini, I walked out of the cabin. I was also wearing my straw hat. It was a bit windy so I had to touch it. I fixed my sunglasses before heading to the sea. And when my feet touched the cold water, I couldn't help but sigh.
  • It has been a while since I've gone to a beach. Besides, being busy with school, we didn't like going to the beach. We preferred hiking when there was a vacation. That was the reason why we were so excited about Dad's gift.
  • There were also beaches in Canada, but it was still different when it was far away from the place where we grew up. And one more thing, we were also blown away by the breeze there. We wanted a new atmosphere and new air to breathe.
  • I spent most of the day swimming under the blazing heat of the sun. The sun didn't hurt my skin but I still didn't take it since I might get skin cancer. But with just that, I almost immediately noticed that my skin get tanned.
  • When I was done, I stood and walked back to the cabin. I was suddenly hungry and I didn't bring enough food for myself. I also needed to see what happened to my twins, especially Chanel. Maybe, she went somewhere and got herself drunk. She was prone to accidents and unexpected incidents. I was afraid that she might fight with someone else here.
  • On my way to the cabin, I stopped on my track when a guy pointed at my face. "You!" he exclaimed.
  • My eyes widened as I pointed at myself. "Me? What about me?”
  • He marched closer to me and I noticed that he was in a bad mood. His forehead was frowning at me and his nose was about to turn red because of his anger. I didn't even know him! Why was he furious?
  • "Acting like you don't know me, huh?" He smirked. "After what you did at the bar, there's no way you would forget about me. You embarrassed me in front of everyone!” When he got close to me, I looked up because he was taller. I assumed he was about six feet. I was not small, but he was still hovering over me.
  • I still blinked at the accusation of the man I just saw. "Excuse me? Do I know you? And F.Y.I., I haven't gone to the bar ever since I stepped foot on this island. Maybe you mistook me for someone else. You know, I have–“
  • "Don't lie, young lady," he cut me off. "What happened at the bar is something no one can forget. And there's no use lying that you can't remember. I know people like you.”
  • This time, I was the one whose nose almost blew because of him. "Really? What kind of person am I, then?”
  • He smirked again. "Gold diggers."
  • Before I could even react, the guy was already lying on the floor. I just held my mouth because of shock and confusion. I didn't know what was going on. But this one was for sure, what he said hurt like hell. Even though I knew that I am not a gold digger, the pain was still in my heart.
  • No one has said those words to me before.
