Chapter 8 The Past

  • Logan Point of view
  • I've heard the laughing men assemble whenever there is a conflict amongst the rogues. The assaulting opponents have been reduced to several packs during the last few years.
  • However, the Shadow pack was the only pack that stayed unarmed to me by force. I'm not sure why they refused to join my leadership since I was formerly acquainted with their Alphas.
  • One who was there was Archer Poer. At the time, he was one of my closest pals. However, the realm of battle is distinct due to the presence of werewolves and rogues. Others believe it's a straightforward exchange of scars, but what they don't realize is that the rogue has already sold their souls for the power they want.
  • I assumed at the time that Archer would be the Shadow pack's Alpha king, and we agreed that if that occurred, he would join my alliance, since I had no choice but to defend all the packs.
  • Nevertheless, the other wolves had a different perception of my true motivation; they believed I desired power and hence committed all of these acts.
  • I was just one of those who experienced the tyranny of a high rank back then, so I have my resolve about the matter.
  • If I have control of those abusive wolves, no one will hurt.
  • Still, I believe Archer will continue to lead. Rather than that, he just gave it to his cousin Hugo Estes. I'm not sure why he did it, but someone informed me it was because he had already met his mate and needed to decide if he would choose between the leadership or the beta mate.
  • I have not heard from him since. Until…
  • The biggest battle took place against the rogues, who were already joined with the witches. Not just the witch, but also Nerus. The most heinous God in the werewolf realm.
  • Archer was one among those who fought in that fight, which we won, and the war was never resumed. Likewise, it is uncommon now to encounter a rogue that is filled with rage.
  • Following that war, these three dukes placed their whole faith in me, entrusting me with their kingdom and pack. However, one piece of news that I learned was Archer's murder.
  • I intended to express my sympathies to the shadow pack, but they refused. They accused me of wanting to include them into my iron regulation. They stated that they did not wish to fall prey to a hungry lycan.
  • I tried to find Archer’s mate to offer my condolences, but unfortunately no one found her. The remainder of my order was never delivered or those wolves never came back anymore. I endeavored to track down her myself but it appeared hard to find the person who sought to hide herself.
  • In the end, I totally dismissed that.
  • What intrigues me the most is why a member of the shadow pack is here now.
  • When I first saw her lurking in the forest, I was drawn to the neck of a woman whose face I had never seen before. For the first time in the number of women I met, I was attracted to the nape of a woman.
  • However, when I noticed the shadow pack's insignia on her back, I couldn't believe someone would dare to enter my land—- what surprising is, it's a woman. I wasn't expecting our first encounter to be that tense from the start.
  • I acted on the influence she injected into me in order to successfully trap her within my domain. I want to lock her in my room regardless of her plan in my life.
  • When they saw me, the three dukes rose to their feet. They welcomed me with a grin despite the fact that I was wearing a poker face due to the inconvenience they had given me. Without them, I would have been able to complete my goal with that woman.
  • I'm not sure what her name is yet. We do unimaginable things but I have not yet heard her utter her name?
  • "Isn't it a perfect day for a contest to see who can catch the most wild creatures, Your majesty?" As he peeked outside, Apollo Fabia hid his hand behind his back. He is the Hunter pack's royal Alpha located at the Tuneca palace.
  • "You have not changed, Apollo; you have remained irresponsible from then till now. Why don't you join me and we'll see if there is a way for Nerus to return. And just in case, let's find a means to stop it,' urged Philo Rufus, the duke alpha of the Hevadal palace's Mystic pack.
  • "Aren't you sick of carrying only books? Even if I just observe you, I feel as if I want to jump into the sea and avoid experiencing what you're doing. "Apollo didn't withdraw.
  • I'm not sure how these two became leaders despite their infantile natures. I raised my eyes to the man who had just crossed his legs as he watched the two argue. There is still one of them remaining.
  • It’s Augustus Ibis the Alpha of Lone pack. I still do not trust him to this day. And I'm sure he feels the same way about me. His personality continues to perplex me.
  • He materialized in front of me, declaring that he wished for my partnership despite the fact that the Kingdom of Tarragon is one of the largest and most powerful territories in the kingdom. It’s an empire that has the royal guards Alpha. As a result, his request for protection from me is superfluous.
  • "If that is all you came here for, I regret I came down here," I replied coldly to them, which caused them to pause in their doing.
  • The two straightened up and returned to the seat that Augustus had done earlier. They give in to their quarrel and then I sit in front of them.
  • "What do you need here?" None of my own questions, since my mind was preoccupied with the woman's whereabouts. I want to immediately return to my room. How ironic that, because of her, the room I didn't have much time to remain in back then now makes me want to lock myself in with her.
  • "It's not you, smiling while staring into space."
  • I couldn't help but look at Augustus in response to the deep voice speaking in front of me. I feigned a cough in order to keep my other expressions, which appeared as if they had just witnessed, hidden. I put my back and head on the coach and closed my eyes.
  • "We learned that you had imprisoned a woman, something you had not done previously. Being so near to her piqued our interest," Augustus continued to speak as the two just nodded as though in accord.
  • "Doesn't it seem as though everything happened overnight and the news reached you rapidly?" I smiled at them, but there was no sense there but annoyance.
  • "Is there something wrong with my question?" He returned my glance. Even though he is only a duke, he refers to himself as my equal, which makes me even angrier.
  • "You think too highly of yourself, Augustus, simply because you had the experience of standing next to the lycan king," I demonstrated at the moment that I was truly upset. Perhaps out of terror, the two became silent.
  • "That is why we are here. After all, we are witnessing your leadership abilities; perhaps we can also immerse ourselves in that goddess."
  • "Augustus!"
  • “Hey! We have previously discussed this!"
  • The two guys spoke gently to him, increasing my ears' hunger as they conversed. The two are already pressing into one another, and there does not appear to be any plan for them to stop.
  • "What do you want to impart?" I was no longer defiant in my response to that query.
  • "We wondered whether you could also share that woman with us, like you previously did with your concubines," he observed, his gaze fixed on whatever was behind me.
  • When I turned, I saw her.
