Chapter 40 Diary

  • I never had a diary, but it always crossed my mind that it would be diaries, where there would be dates and descriptions of what the person did that day. And for this reason when I opened the first page I was a little disappointed to see that I wouldn't have any of that. It said " Moments I lived to remember after I die." How do you remember after dying? My aunt Emy might not have been well when she started writing.
  • A few unimportant things, though they revealed what she liked and didn't like. I went to the bookshelf and grabbed a highlighter pen to highlight whatever I thought was most interesting. And there was the first revelation: “ I always accepted marriage as a matter of course, because even though I didn't know him, I knew that my father would never promise me to a man who was not suitable. Even because he knows that I am the future queen of Avalon and all the responsibility I have and will have for my entire life. But accepting marriage doesn't mean I have to love him. My heart will never cease to belong to a commoner. My commoner. I will love him as long as I can see the sun rise from inside my window, as long as there is blood running through my veins. So I'll have to say goodbye sooner or later. And I hope I have the strength to be able to do that.”
  • Was Emy Beaumont in love with another man? A commoner? I flipped through a few more sheets, but found nothing about how they met. It was confusing and cryptic writing, looking like she didn't want anything to be discovered about her if anyone found the diary.
