Chapter 7 One time thing

  • Louise's POV
  • I woke up to an empty bed. My brain was slowly remembering about why he had to leave me before, something about his neighbor.
  • Picking up my phone, I saw the miscalls and finally his text message.
  • Lou, I'm still at the hospital. One of my oldest friends got a heart attack, I'm supporting his wife. She's still in shock. (Allen)
  • Then another text.
  • Hey, so he's in surgery. Still here for his wife. Just make yourself comfortable. Stay the night. (Allen)
  • That was over an hour ago. Wow...he really exhaust me. But I need to get back home and have a spa day with the girls tomorrow. It's our monthly thing. And their presence is the one thing that made spa day bearable.
  • Unlike many other women, I don't really like going to the spa. I cut and dyed my hair, I always feel that hairdressers tend to speak a lot. Though I keep myself busy with my phone but they just kept on talking and it annoyed me. Not to mention it takes ages just to trim your hair, while I could do my own for ten minutes top.
  • I finally called Cherise to order me a ride and share my location with her. She was letting me have my privacy and didn't ask further about him. That's what I like about her, and that had made her stay with me for the longest time.
  • It was an hour later when I was finally out of his door. I need to get away from him and carry on with my work. I finally texted him on my way back to my apartment.
  • Hi, so...I'm on my way back. Thank you for the lovely afternoon...
  • Nope too clingy...I decided to edit my text.
  • Hi, so...I'm on my way back. Thank you for the sexy afternoon. (Louise)
  • There, that reads non-commitment. I need to focus on my life, and relationship was the last thing I should worry about.
  • My girls know me. My girls know exactly how I deal with relationships, I don't.
  • I was home two hours later and was fast asleep soon as my head touched my pillows.
  • It felt like I just close my eyes when my alarm woke me up and the sun was peeking through my bedroom window already. I stretched my body and reached out for my phone.
  • But then decided to put it down again, and carry on to my morning routine. I was not ready to see his text. I need it to be a one-time thing, though my body was craving for his touch already.
  • I cursed and forced myself to get up and go to the bathroom. An hour later I was waiting for my black coffee while watching the morning news but couldn't seem to focus and eventually gave up and start scrolling my phone.
  • Got a miscall and a text from him, I take a deep breath and opened his text.
  • I just got back, and you were gone. Disappointed, but hopeful that we will meet again. (Allen)
  • Okay, not bad. Now I just need to stop myself from replying to his text. Thankfully I got my girls to distract me today.
  • "Soooo....? Spill! Okay...wait...wait...last time it was me, so now I'm picking Louise to go first." Cora said giggling at my pack of girls.
  • "Okay...so after Player we get back to my place...." I rolled my eyes at Cora, and start on my kiss and tell sessions.
  • Two hours later, we were done at the spa and were having our very late lunch at Barney's.
  • "Wait, define we please?" Sherry my longest friend in the bunch asked sweetly.
  • I laughed nervously at her question, it has always been the details that piqued her curiosity the most. Don't be fooled by the beautiful petite blonde characteristics that she let out. She's the youngest, most successful business owner among us.
  • Being raised by hippy parents, she makes herself homeschooled and received her bachelor at the age of eighteen. From then on she worked at various jobs and apparently absorbed her working experience as a field study like a sponge.
  • "Me and the last guy standing, Allen," I said to her. She smirked knowing that there was something more going on in my story.
  • "Go on..." Sherry said as she takes a big chunk of her juicy steak. I still don't get how she could maintain her weight with that kind of portion.
  • "Well...we went back to my place, kiss like a maniac then I felt it..." I deliberately stop for a dramatic effect, making the girls instinctively leaned in closer to me. They were all quiet as if they were listening to a horror podcast.
  • "I excused myself and was back to the kitchen minutes later. He was making both of us coffee...when I told him..."
  • "Goddamn, it woman! Spill already!" Lucie the other blonde in our group who curses like a sailor, showed us her subtle yet very demanding command.
  • She was raised in a very strict religious family with too many rules. So when she was old enough to stand on her own, she looked for a job in a different state. And then from there, all hell breaks loose.
  • "I had my period." I smiled at them and take a bite of my burger. It only took seconds, when their trail of curses filled out the conversation.
  • "Shit! So...you didn't? Wow... If he's as good as his brother mm hmm...woman you got yourself a winner." Cora, the sexiest of the bunch licked her lip.
  • Her Latin heritage mixed with her African genes from her father's side make her irresistible to all men. And though Lucie was the one who flirts, Cora just needs to smile and guys would flock to her side.
  • "Yeah, done that Yesterday. He's amazing." I said the most important part in a passing manner, which made all of them cursed. Again.
  • Cora choked on her drink, while the rest let out their laughter and cursed some more.
  • "Damn woman...." Tara the red hair of the bunch, curse at me. They say reds are passionate lovers, but our Tara is the timid one out of all of us. She has her issues.
  • Honestly, all of us have our past, which loomed over our heads. But we stick together and have each other's back.
  • "....you and your stories never stop to amaze me. Now, do kiss and tell."
  • After our late afternoon coffee, I said goodbye to the rest of the group, while Sherry invited me to her place. She knows that there was something more, that I was reluctant in telling the girls.
  • "So? I'm feeling something more to this model hunk of yours. You had your one night with a couple of those drool-worthy guys, and none were bothering you as he does."
  • She took me to her living room where her two babies were lounging on their very large dog beds. If I didn't know her past, I would say she's crazy about keeping two large Doberman dogs indoors.
  • "I know, I'm trying very hard to get him out of the picture," I said and paused to eat her yogurt.
  • "Wow...Sher..this is...just wow..." I took another bite then another, making her laughed.
  • "Yeah, we're trying to launch this new cranberry pie yogurt. I'll bring you some later, I have samples. No...don't give me that look. You're good Lou. I believe in you. Your eating disorder days are done..." she hugged me, knowing I would still need the assurance.
  • "I know, I keep on reminding myself that," I said as I take another bite of the yogurt.
  • "Look, take it one day at a time? And come to me if you have more anxiety, I don't want you to have a setback."
  • She's right...now I just have to make sure that it's a one-time thing.
