Chapter 10

• I want someone else to take over my relationship with KC other than Don or one of the other neighbors, some of whom seem to have notions about KC or me or their wives. I knew Don was sexually harassed and told me I wasn't, and that I had to agree with him in the current situation. I went through a list of people I could talk to and decided to visit someone I was working with, Chris Hanson. He's about my age; tall black handsome; and has been reticent about other discussions we have had. The next day, I walked into his office and asked him out for lunch. "I need relationship advice. I buy."
• As we walk to a grocery store down the street from our office, Chris says, "I'm not a relationship counselor, but what's up?" Do you and KC have a problem? We ate sandwiches and sat outside at the picnic table with no one else around.
• I briefly explained the whole situation to him. It took me twenty minutes, and during that time Chris was mostly silent, asking only a few points for clarification. I amplified the dilemma I was facing of staying with KC or letting her go because sometimes she wanted to sleep with other men.
