Chapter 7

  • After Four Years
  • Aaron was driving the car, with Sam beside who was briefing him about the project for which they were going to attend a meeting.
  • Out of nowhere, a woman came in front of their car. Aaron stopped the car with a jerk and the car got stopped just a few inches before. Both of them rushed out of the car immediately and got uttering in unison, "You okay?"
  • The woman stood up holding a little puppy in hand uttering, "Yeah, I am." but when they came face to face, all of them were bewildered. Uttered silence occupied the place.
  • Sam spoke up first breaking the silence, "Alina? You?"
  • Before Alina could say something, a little boy got there running, "Mom, you okay?"
  • Alina stared at Aaron’s face who was looking at the boy with widened eyes. The boy also turned to him. Pulling out a serious expression, he scolded him in his baby voice, "Be careful."
  • Aaron stood there dumbfounded, his eyes never leaving the three-year-old boy.
  • But without bothering him, Alina got down and assured her son, "I am okay, baby. Don't worry." and reached out her hand to hold the puppy in front of him as she added, "And your Tom is also okay."
  • Without glancing at the puppy, the boy hugged her. He seemed to be quite afraid like he understood what might have happened there.
  • Alina smilingly caressed his hair and assured him again, "Ryan, I am okay, baby."
  • Ryan let go of her after a few moments when he was sure his Mom was okay and with him. He held the puppy and scolded it in his baby voice, "Where did you go, haan? I was searching for you."
  • Alina stood up and faced Aaron. His eyes were still on the baby. Alina had hoped once when the baby would be born, she would do the paternity test and prove her innocence.
  • But when he was born with the same green emerald eye, coal black hair, and resembling the face of Aaron, many scenarios crossed her mind what probably would happen if Aaron got to know about his son.
  • No paternity test would have been required because one glance at the child, Aaron would realize he was his.
  • She dropped the idea as she had found a new reason to live. She thought even if everyone would use and abandon her, her baby would love her with his heart without any ulterior motive and this thought encouraged her to start afresh.
  • She did and she knew she did the right thing because she was happy now like never before in her little world. She and her little son, Ryan. She didn’t need him anymore.
  • Shifting her gaze from Aaron to Sam, Alina spoke up, "Good to see you, Sam. Anyways, I need to leave. I am busy."
  • Alina bent and turned to Ryan, "Let's go?"
  • Ryan looked at her and nodded, "Okay, Mom."
  • Smiling at him, Alina took Ryan in her arms who was holding the puppy and again started mumbling away without bothering them.
  • Alina walked till she reached a little distance and then stopping a taxi, she hopped in and went away without turning back for once.
  • She wasn’t expecting to meet Aaron like this. She wasn’t going to let him meet Ryan ever. She was happy and wasn’t going to let any hindrance come into her little happy world. She would protect that with her life.
  • For a good long time, Aaron and Sam stood in their places silently. And then Sam got glaring at Aaron. "Do you know why people ask about his father while knowing someone?" Sam uttered coldly staring at Aaron’s face, "Because bloodline doesn’t lie."
  • Aaron’s face flashed hurt not because of Sam's words. He had already realized what he had done.
  • Sam seemed to have more things to say though. He knew his words would hurt Aaron but whatever he happened to know now, he wasn’t in a mood to consider that. He didn’t even bother to remember what happened to Aaron when Alina left him.
  • "You are no different from your father, Aaron. He left you to live as an orphan and you did the same thing and in the worst way possible."
  • Sam again turned to the way which Alina followed a little ago with the little one who was the spitting image of Aaron. He never imagined something like this might have happened between them.
  • He never thought Aaron would be this cruel. The more he was thinking, the more he was enraged. He turned to Aaron again. He was also staring at the same way. He thought it was a lie when Alina told him she was pregnant with his baby. He thought she was playing a new game with him to get him trapped.
  • Moreover, he didn’t remember something like this happening between them. And about that night which he was confused, he had asked Alina and she said nothing happened, then all of a sudden..
  • When he got to know that he was drugged and there was a possibility of..
  • Aaron was snapped out of his thought as Sam got uttering, "I am sorry, Sir. But I don’t think I can work for you anymore. I don’t like this type of people."
  • Before Aaron could say anything, Sam walked to the car and hopping in, he drove away leaving Aaron all by himself in the middle of the road.
  • When Sam's car was out of sight, Aaron walked to the bench that was at the roadside where his son was sitting a little ago and sat there as he again stared at the way. The taxi that drove Alina away couldn’t be seen on the road anymore.
  • The road was busy, different types of vehicles were going right and left, people were walking on the sidewalk gossiping, laughing but nothing was going through Aaron...
  • He was stuck at the moment when the little version of him ran to Alina, called her Mom, hugged her like his life depended on it and spared him a glaring look, his baby words 'Be careful' and then went away without sparing him another glance.........
