Chapter 4 Trip To Dover, Kent

  • Olivia woke up in the morning dejected and depressed as a result of excessive crying and the absence of quality sleep. The last meal she ate was the popcorn she took at the cinema, hoping to have dinner with Louis when they got home. She decided to leave the house very early despite the cold to give her ample time to search for her school mother and also avoid questions from her siblings and domestic staff. For that, she had no breakfast.
  • “Tracing the Bailey's home may not be difficult.”
  • She said to herself.
  • At Dover
  • Mr. Denise Bailey, a twenty-four years old man was on a walkout exercise with his mentor and godfather Mr. Nicholas Fields who was forty forty-two years old as it was their custom every weekend. He believed so much in him and always looked up to him for counseling on crucial matters.
  • “Godfather, why is my case different? I'm losing my mind.”
  • Mr. Nicholas Fields gave Mr. Denise Bailey a concerned look and said.
  • “Come, let us sit down.”
  • He directed him to a breakfast spot by the roadside. They took their seats by the table that was arranged for customers, and he ordered for coffee as the waiter came to meet them at once to take their orders.
  • “Two cups of coffee, please.”
  • “Noted sir. Give me some minutes.”
  • While they were waiting for the coffee, Mr. Nicholas Fields continued.
  • “Denise, my son, you are one of the youths around that I’m proud of. You are just anxious for nothing; God will make everything about you perfect, including your love life. When you see your missing rib, you will be convinced undoubtedly that she is your wife.”
  • Mr. Denise Bailey became emotional and wished that an Angel should just appear bearing his wife on his wings and deliver her to him that very moment. At that time, the waiter arrived with the two cups of coffee and dropped them on the table. Mr. Nicholas Fields paid and Denise Bailey continued.
  • “Godfather, you know that my mom is anxious, and I’m her only son; though my cousin, Louis is there, but she wishes to carry my baby soon, but it is like my missing rib is not in this part of the world.”
  • “Denise, believe in yourself. Your expectation shall not be cut off. Your mother will l
  • see your children soon. Take your coffee.”
  • Mr. Nicholas Fields ordered. They sipped their coffee silently. Mr. Denise, who was a bit relieved, asked.
  • “How is godmother? It had been a while when I saw her.”
  • Mr. Nicholas Fields smiled and teased.
  • “You have been preoccupied with your search for your missing rib that you forgot to ask after her. All the same, she is fine.”
  • The amused Denise laughed softly and replied bashfully.
  • “It is not so, Godfather. I will make it up to her. I promise.”
  • He promised. They sipped their coffee and left the breakfast spot for their cars.
  • “All right, Denise. Let's be hopeful. See you coming weekend.”
  • “I appreciate, Godfather. Regards to Godmother.”
  • They had a handshake, got into their vehicles and drove off.
  • At a Road in Dover
  • It was 8:15 am, Olivia had arrived at Dover after one hour twenty-five minutes that she boarded a train from Sevenoaks. The morning cold was biting seriously and Olivia who was with little luggage was standing by the road after she got off the train weak and confused. She was worn out as a result of long cry and hunger. The city was strange to her, and she planned going to a nearby Shelter for Girls before she would proceed with her search for Julie Bailey. The map showed that there was one close to the Train Station. She booked for a cab and waited for its arrival. Due to her state of mind and the February cold, she kept making mistakes with her bookings, which caused her to spend so much time waiting. She became sick and was struggling to stand.
  • However, Mr. Denise Bailey was driving towards her direction and she decided to ask for help. She attempted to wave and stop the vehicle, which stopped at once.
  • “Hello, how are you?”
  • Denise Bailey asked, looking at a dejected and confused young girl.
  • “I am f…”
  • Before she could conclude her statement, she slumped, and her phone fell off her hand and shattered. Denise, got off his car at once and walked swiftly to her. He looked around to see if any help could come, but it was a Saturday, and most of the residents were indoors. He lifted her into the back seat of his car, opened his car trunk and dropped her luggage and the shattered phone before he got into his car and drove off.
  • At Sevenoaks, Louis House.
  • Louis could not believe that Olivia left his house the previous night with his pregnancy.
  • “Olivia, Olivia.”
  • He called when he woke up in the morning. Based on her medical history which he was aware of, he recalled that Olivia could not withstand stress for a long time, how much more when pregnancy was involved.
  • “How could she have left the estate at 10 pm? Aww!”
  • He rubbed his hand backward on his short curly hair with the fade haircut several times before he thought of giving her a call. To his amazement, her line could not connect. He tried again but got the same result.
  • “Hope she got to her house safely?”
  • Now, Mr. Louis Bailey went berserk and asked
  • “What have I done to myself? My woman and my baby?”
  • He hurriedly picked his car keys and fled to his car. His domestic staff members who saw the way he ran out of the house knew that something was wrong. He drove off, not knowing where to start searching for Olivia. Going to her house was out of the question because the security guards would not let him in. At this point, he had no choice but to risk it. He drove to the quarters for Missionaries at Badan Powell Road where she lived with her parents and stopped at the gate, got off his car and walked to the security men and asked.
  • “How may we help you. Young Master?”
  • Mr. Louis Bailey attempted to compose himself before making his request known.
  • “Good morning to you, officer. I want to visit the McGregor.”
  • “The McGregor and his wife had been on Foreign Missions abroad. Sorry about that.”
  • “Thank you officer. I'm aware of that, I'm here to see Olivia, their daughter.”
  • “Oh! I see. Let me call the apartment.”
  • “Thank you.”
  • Mr. Louis Bailey was lucky to have met a security officer who was not aware of the standing order from the McGregor not to let him into the quarters anytime he showed up. He called the flat and the janitor picked.
  • “Someone is at the gate, he wished to see Olivia.”
  • The security officer informed. At that time, Mr. Louis Bailey's heart was in his mouth as he looked anxiously at the officer who was making the call.
  • “Let me check her room.”
  • The janitor replied.
  • To Mr. Louis Bailey, the waiting period seemed like an eternity. Soon the call came again through the security landline. The officer picked.
  • “She is not around.”
  • “Thank you.”
  • The security officer looked at the young man before him, whom he was sure must have heard what the Janitor said, and informed dismissively.
  • “Young Master, she is not around. Have a pleasant day.”
  • Mr. Louis Bailey's condition became worse than when he came. He thanked the officer and walked back to his car. There were no clues where she could be. He could not explain how he got back to his house. He was sweating profusely under the cold.
  • “What came over me? The woman I had waited for three years to be out of school before I went to bed with her. The girl I loved with my life is missing with my pregnancy.”
