Chapter 39 Cranky
- Joe and I waited for the waiter to get our order while we both looked out the window, not uttering a word to each other. I couldn’t stop thinking about the argument that had earlier transpired between myself and Christian. “Are you going to keep pretending like I don’t exist when I’m right in front of you?” Joe asked bringing me back to earth. “Are you going to keep pestering me about something that’s not your business?” I asked feeling quite irritated.
- “I’m just trying to look out for you Meredith” he said reaching out for my hand. “I didn’t ask you to” I scoffed and snatched my hand away from him. Our food arrived and there was another awkward silence.
- “Is it Christian?” he asked suddenly. “I thought this was supposed to be a reconciliation meal…” I was getting more irritated. “But instead you are getting on my nerves.” I said through gritted teeth.
