Chapter 6

  • Jam's POV
  • Kendall exited the bathroom in my denim short shorts, black muscle shirt with 'J' printed on it, and my Black converse. Her hair was tied in a ponytail. Why do you have to be so beautiful, Ken? You're making things difficult!
  • "Done checking me out?"
  • Huh? Oh my G! I'm checking her out! Really Jam? Great way to embarrass yourself!
  • "I'm not checking you out. I'm just wondering if I really own that clothes" I half lied, It's true I don't know that I have those clothes
  • "Perks of being wealthy, I guess?"
  • I stood up "Maybe mom loves to invade my closet."
  • "Are your parents here? What do I look like? Do I look presentable?" she asked in a nervous tone
  • I chuckled "My parents are not royalty Ken. They are the most down to earth person I've ever known."
  • She sighed "Thank God!"
  • "Let's go downstairs, I will introduce you to them" I said dragging her out of my room
  • As we walked downstairs, I checked the time. I was beyond thankful that dad already went to his work, I know because I know his office hours. but of course I need to face mom, knowing mom she'll throw so many questions, like 'why you didn't attend school?' 'Who's this girl?' 'Is she your girlfriend?' Oh my G! Mom will embarrass me in front of Kendall.
  • Kendall suddenly held my hand, I looked at her in confusion.
  • "Why?" I asked
  • "I'm nervous" She said
  • I squeezed her hand "No need to be Ken. Besides knowing dad, he's gone for his work at this time."
  • She released a soft sigh again "Don't leave my side okay?"
  • I chuckled "It was like I will introduce you as my girlfriend."
  • I mentally slapped myself. Why did I say that?!
  • She blushed "Shut up Jam"
  • We walked in the kitchen, knowing mom, she's preparing breakfast at this time.
  • "Pancakes!" Kendall beamed as we smell pancakes from the kitchen
  • I chuckled "You like pancakes?"
  • She nodded "I love pancakes!"
  • I figure a 40's woman greeted us, she's sitting on one in front of the counter, with a smirk on her face.
  • What was that for?
  • Mom looked in our hands, I pulled my hands instantly. I miss her hand already.
  • "Mom, this is kendall, she's my friend. Ken, this is my mom, Lucy."
  • Mom stood up and hugged Kendall, she whispered something to Kendall. Weird.
  • "Nice to meet you kendall." Mom said pulling away from their hug
  • "Nice to meet you too Lucy." Kendall, still nervous
  • I cleared my throat "Are you done to your 'nice meeting yous'?
  • Mom glared at me "come and sit, I made some pancakes."
  • We sat in front of mom.
  • Kendall being shy didn't know what to do. I chuckled and served her. I placed a pancake in her place.
  • "Chocolate of maple?" I asked
  • "Chocolate please." She said
  • I poured some chocolate syrup on her pancake.
  • "Dig in" I said
  • We ate in silence.
  • "So... Jam, where were you last night?"
  • I wiped my mouth using the cloth napkin "Didn't you see the note I left?"
  • She shrugged "You're with Dani last night?"
  • I nodded.
  • "Also with Kendall?" Mom asked
  • I gave up.
  • I sighed "I was in Dani's club last night, I'm sorry."
  • "Did you get wasted?" Mom asked
  • Thank God she's not mad!
  • "I didn't. But Kendall did."
  • She slapped my shoulder "Your mom didn't ask if I was wasted last night." She complained
  • Mom laughed "You two are cute. I'm not mad. But I'll be mad if you'll do this again. You see you two missed your school because of what you've done last night."
  • I nodded "I'm really sorry mom."
  • "Good. By the way your sister came here a while ago."
  • "Really?"
  • Usually Dani will go to my room and mess with me. Wait... Did Kendall see Dani?! Oh fuck!
  • "Yup, but she said she's in a hurry and just wanted to say hi."
  • I sighed "Okay. Is she okay?"
  • Mom nodded "Great! She's been busy due to her studies, but yeah, she's doing good."
  • I just nodded.
  • "So Kendall, I'm grateful that Jam has a friend already, what did you do to my daughter?"
  • Kendall chuckled "me too didn't know that I'm her friend already."
  • Mom frowned "What do you mean?"
  • I sighed "Because she's still proving me if she's worthy of me friendship."
  • "Ohh. So... Is she worthy of your friendship Jam? You see you introduced her as your friend." Mom challenged me
  • Kendall looked at me intently, waiting for my answer.
  • I shrugged "Half yes."
  • "Still not sure?" Kendall asked me
  • "Let's just say that, you still need to prove yourself more."
  • Mom chuckled "You're so difficult Jam"
  • We finished breakfast. We bid goodbye to my mom.
  • "So where are we going?" Kendall asked, staring outside the car window
  • "To my favourite place." I answered still focusing on the road
  • "You're taking me to your favourite place?" She asked
  • "You heard me"
  • She shifted her seat and face me "Jam"
  • "Hmmm?"
  • "How can I be your friend?
  • "What do you mean?" I asked, I looked at her then back to the road
  • "Nevermind." She dismissed
  • "C'mon tell me."
  • "I'm just wondering, what should I do to be your friend."
  • I reached for her hand "Just be yourself Ken. That's all you have to do."
  • "Okay Jam. Thank you."
  • I let go of her hand. Why do I have this urge to hold her hand always?!
  • "Jam?" She called
  • "Yes?"
  • "Are you gay?" She asked
  • I frowned "what?"
  • "You heard me Jam."
  • Am I that obvious?
  • "Uhh. Yes, do we have a problem with that?"
  • Please say no.
  • "Nope. We're cool." She said
  • I sighed in relief "why did you ask by the way?"
  • "I don't know, did you have a girlfriend?"
  • "I had a girlfriend before."
  • "What happened?" She asked
  • "I guess we are just not meant to be."
  • She nodded "I guess so."
  • "You know Ken... I've been having weird dreams this past few weeks."
  • "Tell me."
  • "There is this little girl, beautiful little girl who keeps on following me and saying she's sorry, and sometimes I see myself playing with her then suddenly she'll disappear, then I will just find myself crying."
  • I looked at her to see her reaction, I frowned when I saw her reaction, she kinda tensed up and nervous? I don't know.
  • "Did... Did you see the girl's face?"
  • I nodded "Clear as crystal"
  • "What does she look like?" She asked
  • "Secret"
  • She groaned "C'mon! Tell me! Tell me!"
  • I shook my head "not now."
  • I can sense that she's looking at me intently. Don't do that Ken. I will faint if you continue that.
  • "Okay, but you'll tell me soon, right?"
  • I nodded "That's for sure."
  • I parked the car and got out and so kendall.
  • "Beach?" Kendall asked
  • I nodded "Yup! C'mon! Let's take a walk." I said and dragged her with me
  • "This is your favourite place? But why?" Kendall asked as we walk in the seashore
  • "Me and my sister used to play here when we are young. She'll buy an ice cream, teach me how to swim, then we will build a sand castle." I said remembering the old times
  • How I miss those times
  • "That's cute." She commented
  • "Do you have a sister?" I asked suddenly I have this feeling to know her better
  • "I have 4 sisters and a brother. My 3 sisters and my brother have their own families now. Me and Kylie are still living with my mom."
  • I nodded "what's their name?"
  • "First is Kourtney, then Kim, Then Khloe, Then Rob, then me of course, then the youngest, Kylie."
  • "Big family huh?"
  • "Yup."
  • "How about your parents?"
  • "Mom is a.... Talent agent and dad was a businessman"
  • "Was?" I questioned
  • "Dad died in a car accident when I was 5 years old."
  • That was sad.
  • "I'm sorry to hear that."
  • She smiled at me "It's okay. I know dad is at peace now."
  • "Yeah, you're right, probably watching you right now, and asking you what the hell you're doing with that gay?" I joked
  • She playfully punched my shoulder "Dad is not like that."
  • "I'm just kidding ken."
  • She glared at me "Can we take a seat? My feet hurt."
  • I chuckled "Sure."
  • We sat on one of the benches and watched the sea making beautiful waves.
  • "Do you want some ice cream?" I asked her
  • She nodded "Sure. Chocolate flavour please."
  • I slowly shook my head "Wait for me here, okay?"
  • She just nodded. I stood up and bought 2 ice creams for us. But when I got back to our bench, Kendall was gone. Where the hell is she?!
  • "Ken?" I called, looking around
  • She's nowhere to be found.
  • I started to panic. Ken! Where are you?
  • I was about to call her but two hands wrapped around my waist.
  • I gasped "where have you been?! You scared me. I thought you left me."
  • She giggled and pecked my nape, that gave me goosebumps. Wow. This girl is really... G! She's pretty something.
  • "I'm sorry. I just peed."
  • I sighed "just don't do that again."
  • She went in front of me "I promise! Can I have my ice cream now?"
  • I gave her ice cream "Here."
  • She sat down "Thank you."
  • I sat next to her and said, "You're welcome."
  • "Let's take a walk again after we finish this" kendall said referring to our ice creams
  • "Sure."
  • "Jam? Can you tell me about your childhood memory?" Kendall asked all of a sudden
  • I choked "oh my gosh Jam. I'm sorry." She said while rubbing my back
  • I coughed " it's okay. Why did you ask?"
  • "I just want to know."
  • How can I say this? When I myself can't even remember most of my childhood memories.
  • I sighed "most of my childhood memories were blank."
  • She looked at me "what do you mean?"
  • "Mom said when I was young, me and our family driver met an accident when he picked me up from the playground. I remembered some but the rest was blank. I remember my family, but not the other people around me."
  • She's looking at me the whole time I'm talking, suddenly she pulled in a hug.
  • "I'm sorry about that Jam."
  • I hugged her back "It's okay Ken. I'm okay now."
  • She pulled away and sat straight "Don't you want to remember your childhood memories?"
  • "Maybe. I don't know." I said unsure
  • "Why?"
  • "I don't think that was necessary, I mean that was just the past. I should focus more on my present and in my future."
  • She sighed "If you say so."
  • As we finished our ice creams, we continued to walk.
  • "How about you Ken? Tell me about your childhood memories."
  • She smiled sadly to me "I had a great childhood memories, me and my siblings used to play together, we always mocked each other." We chuckled "But you know which part of my childhood is my favourite?" She asked, I shook my head "When I met this wonderful girl in the playground, I remember she went to me while I'm crying over dad's death. She gave me ice cream and said that everything will be fine. Then we became friends, everyday we played together in the playground, but one day... We need to leave our house and mom said she needs to move on from dad's death. I didn't get the chance to say goodbye to her." She finished and a tear escaped from her eyes
  • "That was sad." I said, don't even know what to say
  • She shook her head "not anymore."
  • I frowned "why? What do you mean?"
  • I looked up in the sky "Because I've found her already."
