Chapter 5 An Engagement

• After they left, Dylan looked at his parents for answers. Both sighed. 
• Eliza pulled his son closer. Dylan rested his head on his shoulder knowing they will talk.
• "You never asked or atleast I think it never bothered you - My surname before I came to your life some 7 years back. I was born Eliza Arcari, brother to Almero Arcari. I- our parents were pretty strict people. My dad, he is the synonym of the perfect Mafia Boss, Advente Arcari meant destruction and heartlessness. I don't think he even loved us. But Almero, he was dad's favourite because he was ready to follow in his footsteps. I - I was a rebel, a young idiot with so much hot-bloodedness in me, well I fell for a drug dealer," said Eliza.
• Daniel snorted. Eliza swatted him.
• "Shut up," he said placed his head on Daniel's shoulder.
• "I have known your dad since I was born. He - " Eliza looked at him.
• Daniel sighed.
• "I was the son of Advente's right-hand man. I- " Daniel broke off.
• "He was the best hitman in the history of Arcari's and well, we never got along," said Eliza.
• "That's putting it lightly," said Daniel fondly.
• "Okay, I - we used to try and outdo each other. But when I asked him to help me, he did. I - I did not tell him about who I was fleeing with, I just fled. I met your dad again when, when I was going through the lowest phase of my life. I just say, seeing your father-son relationship encouraged me to, you know to get the sperm donation and have Caleb," said Eliza.
• "That I know," smiled Dylan. But then he looked up at his dad.
• "How did you get out of the Mafia then?" asked Dylan.
• "I knew I won't survive the day when Advente would find out that I helped Eliza. So, I had fled. I was travelling when I met your mom. She - well, she was from the royal family. Damon's dad gave us asylum and that was when your mother made the contract," said Daniel.
• "So, Zenon Arcari is actually my cousin in the not related by blood way?" asked Dylan.
• Eliza smiled.
• "He is. Was a very sad kid. But I must say he is way better than my dad ever was," said Eliza.
• "Is Damon my cousin too?" asked Dylan.
• "Yeah, but your mother was his dad's distant cousin," said Daniel.
• "Hmmm," said Dylan.
• "So, now we are living in Malone. Are you both not scared?" asked Dylan after giving it some thought.
• "Almero will never harm Daniel because Dan is his best friend and he would never harm me because he is the best brother in the world, well, after you," smiled Eliza seeing Dylan rocking Caleb a bit as he became restless in sleep.

• Dylan looked at Damon's pictures. He is a very hot man. Even in pictures, he looked intimidating. He also searched for his cousin's pictures. Zenon's pictures were not available online.
• Dylan sighed as Katie teased him about his man from morning to night with Aleo and Keiran joining in.
• He was a bit worried as he dressed in a black chino and a t-shirt. He was not sure how he looked but Papa said he looked great.
• He was awkward amongst the four people he barely knew. They involved him in small talk in their garden as they sat around for tea and dropped bits and pieces of information about Damon.
• "He should be here in an hour or so," smiled Melissa. Dylan liked Melissa and Candice. They were nice women.
• Dylan could understand how busy Damon is but even after waiting for three hours, he was yet to show up which was a bit inexcusable. But, his husband to be was no ordinary man and Dylan consoled himself with that.
• By 5 pm, when Dylan was really tired and almost ready to go home, he saw a Bugatti drive in. He knew who it must be and Dylan blushed a bit as the door opened and Damon Knight stepped out. The man's hair was flying and he looked like he was straight out of a fashion magazine.
• Dylan felt underdressed when he saw his fiance. The man walked towards them. Dylan was standing behind the tall men and Damon was yet to see him.
• "So where is this guy you wanted me to meet even though I am definitely marrying him in a week or so and will be seeing him for the rest of our life?" asked Damon.
• Dylan flushed hearing it. He had even thought that the man was not interested in him.
• Dylan stepped from behind them and felt the piercing gaze even though the man was wearing shades.
• He removed the shades and those deep eyes were seeing through him.

• Damon had been irritated. His parents' and godparents had been calling him repeatedly because his fiance was home. Damon did not see the point. The guy was going to stay with him for the rest of their lives. It is not going to change with a simple meeting. 
• The night before last, he had celebrated the last days of bachelorhood with as much sex a man can have. Now, he was stepping into family life and he knew to make promises and keep them. He knew his responsibilities too. Then what's this meeting for. But he cannot deny that he was a bit curious about him.
• Dylan. Damon finally read the name in his mom's text. Dylan Knight sounded just fine. He had already ordered an engagement ring which is with him now. He will give it now and another function in the name of engagement could be done away with.
• He reached home and walked towards where they were all seated. He can't see Dylan anywhere. After his question about the same, a guy stepped aside from behind the two tall men.
• Damon couldn't take his eyes off. The curls fell in Dylan's face. He was angelic. There was no other word to put it. Damon was sure he has never set eyes on someone more beautiful. 
• He sighed. He hoped Dylan survived his work schedules and does not come in the way if his work. He will need more than that angelic face to distract Damon. And nothing can distract him. He won't let it.
• Damon took the ring box from his pocket and extended it to Dylan who was surprised but took it.
• "Wear it," said Damon as he slipped in his own engagement ring.

• Miles away, Zenon Arcari was in his office. He received a mail. He opened it and saw Damon offering a ring to a beautiful guy- no man. There was no other way to put it. He looked ethereal. He cringed for using a word the saps use.  Zenon snorted.
• This is going to hit Damon hard because he is stealing such a beautiful fiance from him.
