Chapter 3

  • EARLIER
  • Three huge men and a short man barged into Miss Claire's office (Lydia's Boss), she flinched on seeing them and stood up immediately.
  • "How can I help you?" She asked breathing heavily.
  • "Relax woman, we mean no harm." The short man replied and sat down while the three huge men stood behind him.
  • "Please sit." The man added and she slowly sat down.
  • "We mean no harm like I said earlier, we are here to talk business."
  • "What business? This is a club."
  • "Yeah, I know it's a club."
  • "Okay?"
  • "I will offer you a deal of five hundred million dollars if you or any of your workers can kill a man for me."
  • "What?"
  • "Of course I know you won't want to do it yourself so let's do it this way, I will give you ten million dollars and the person who will do the job five hundred million dollars."
  • "What? Really?" She asked and the man nodded.
  • "Who... who is the person going to kill?"
  • "Easy, Logan Griffo."
  • "What? You mean the same Logan Griffo? The ruthless billionaire?"
  • "Yes, sure."
  • "But... but how is it possible? Logan Griffo is impossible to get close to not to talk of touching him to the extent of killing him."
  • "It's kind of easy though."
  • "How?"
  • "No matter how hard a man is, when a woman is close to him, he will starts getting attached to the lady and he will become weak, all we need is a lady to plant in his life."
  • "Here is my card, give me a call when you are ready."
  • The man dropped his card and stood up, he smiled before walking out of the office.
  • Miss Claire sighed repeatedly as she thought of who could do the job well but only a name kept ringing in her head.
  • "Lydia."
  • *******
  • PRESENT
  • "What are you talking about?" Lydia asked and sat back.
  • "Am serious Lydia, this pay can save your brother and give you both a better life."
  • "How much is it?"
  • "Five hundred."
  • "Thousand?"
  • "Million dollars."
  • "What?" Lydia asked as her eyes widen in shock.
  • "Yes, am dead serious, that's the pay."
  • "Well what's the job about? Who do I have to spend the night with?"
  • "It's not that, it's completely different from that."
  • "Then what is it?"
  • "You have to kill someone, Logan Griffo."
  • "What? I have to kill someone?"
  • "Yes, Logan Griffo."
  • "Who doesn't know Logan Griffo? The ruthless billionaire which no one ever goes close to and am suppose to kill him?"
  • "Yes, but there is a plan already and it's going to go smoothly, I promise you that as long as you agree to it." Miss Clarie said and Lydia remained silent for a while.
  • "I will do it." She said after thinking for a bit, it wasn't like she wasn't thinking about killing him, all she kept thinking about was the five hundred million dollars, her younger brother, and a new life.
  • "Good, I will give the person a call, you can go and meet Henry now but be back here tomorrow very early, you have the night off to rest, you deserve it."
  • "Thank you Miss Claire, thank you so much."
  • "Anytime dear." She replied and Lydia walked out of the office.
  • As she head out of the club she kept thinking about all she just discussed with Miss Claire and how it is going to be successful.
  • She decided to not think about it too much and enjoy the moment with her brother, she bought him pizza, burgers, a bottle of coke and some French fries.
  • She got to the hospital and walked into his ward, he smiled happily on seeing her and she returned the smile.
  • "Look what I got you." She said and helped him sit up, she opened the bag and brought everything out.
  • She was expecting a smile from him and the look of excitement but instead she got a look of sadness.
  • "What's wrong? Don't you like it? Should I get you something else?"
  • "Where did you get the money to buy all this from?"
  • "Wait, is that it?" She asked and sighed in relief.
  • "It's my money okay? I worked for it."
  • "And I keep asking you what work? How did you get the money to keep paying for my daily treatment? This hospital is expensive."
  • "Come on Henry, just eat okay?"
  • "Am not hungry." He replied and folded his arms before looking away.
  • "Hey, come on Henry, okay I will tell you the job I'm doing."
  • "What is it?"
  • "It's not one though, I work like five times a day and mostly at night, that is why I dont always stay with you at night."
  • "You still haven't answered my question, what job exactly?"
  • "I work at a restaurant, bar, hotel, companies and at night in a club as a waitress."
  • "Really?"
  • "Yes."
  • "Oh, okay then. Am sorry for putting you through this and being mad at you."
  • "Of course not, it's fine, you are my responsibility so I should know how to take care of you, now let's eat." She said happily and Henry nodded.
  • She sat with him on the bed and they both ate to their satisfaction, they were done and Henry smiled.
  • "I love that smile, looks real."
  • "Yeah it is, I feel like am getting better." He joked and she laughed.
  • "I also love that laughter, it's getting late though, aren't you going to work?"
  • "No, my boss gave me the night off."
  • "Thank God, you really need it."
  • "No I don't, all I need to do is work hard."
  • "But not too much." He replied and lifted his hand slowly and poked her. She smiled and poked him back.
  • He laughed and placed his head on her shoulder.
  • "Lydia." Henry called and she smiled.
  • "Yeah?"
  • "If there is anything you have to do for money that is dangerous please don't do it? I won't stop feeling guilty if something happens to you."
  • "Sure, I won't do it."
  • "Promise?"
  • "I promise."
