Chapter 6

  • David was lost in his thought all over his business meetings.
  • Though he has convinced himself all these years that Gloria doesn’t matter to him, today his heart proved himself wrong.
  • He was not only forcing his mind to concentrate on his work, but he was burning with jealousy when he thought Gloria must be back for Jonathan.
  • Though he wanted to forget about their past affairs and move on, it was looking too impossible for now.
  • They were returning after a week and they could meet anytime, this thought was making him unsettled.
  • But he knew ignoring this matter will solve anything.
  • “Noah, have you got any news all these years about her?” David ask Noah who was busy arranging some papers.
  • They were sitting in his private jet and they were going to touch the ground in an hour.
  • “I tried to find out where she was and I only have news she was in Australia. I didn’t try to find out anything afterward.” Noah says, and he sighs.
  • What was she doing there, and who was with her?
  • David knows how much Gloria hates living alone.
  • When David got married, Gloria wanted to move with his family.
  • Her mother and Gloria used to be closed.
  • But he didn’t want his parents to invade their privacy, so they moved to his villa.
  • But whenever he used to be out on business trips Gloria would visit her grandparents or his parents.
  • Then how was she living there alone? Or she was living with someone else?
  • These thoughts were so unsettling that he couldn’t find peace.
  • “Try to find out why she returned. I want every detail about her.” David says and Noah nod.
  • David didn’t know why he was so much concerned about her matter, but he wanted to find out about her love life.
  • Noah was also surprised by his boss’s behavior.
  • His boss was not someone who can be called romantic.
  • David has never involved himself with anyone after Gloria left.
  • Even he didn’t bat his eyes on Lia, who always stay ready to go to his bed.
  • Then what was so special about Gloria that was shaking him so much?
  • But it was none of his business.
  • He was just a mere assistant who should only think about his work.
  • On the other hand,
  • Gloria was having a hard time after moving here.
  • Daniel who has always been healthy and chirpy has fallen sick instantly after they move here.
  • The doctor told her it was because of a sudden change in environment but as a mother, Gloria couldn’t calm down.
  • She tried to contact every pediatrician who can treat his son and after a week Daniel was getting well today.
  • “Daniel,” Gloria caresses his son’s hair when he looks up still holding his alpaca in his hand.
  • “Mom, I am not sick. I am only giving company to Fifi.” He says which brought tears to her eyes but she hides them away and smiles at her son.
  • “Of course. My son is the best. Now get up and have this soup. You need to take care of Fifi, too.” She urged him, and he sat up weakly.
  • His fever has gone down but his face was still pale which made her heart bleed.
  • Daniel finished the soup without any protest, and Gloria fed him his medicine after that.
  • He was again feeling sleepy so Gloria tuck him in the bed and after taking a shower joined him too.
  • This town has hurt her too much.
  • She was not ready to lose her son too, so his slight pain was making her worried so much.
  • The next day Daniel was almost healthy and as his nature, he was running all over the garden making Gloria worried.
  • “Daniel, don’t run. You are still weak.” Gloria tried to stop his son, but he was not ready to stop today.
  • “Mom, I couldn’t get out of bed because of Fifi. Let me play.” Daniel whine and run over a butterfly that was jumping from one flower to another.
  • Though Gloria was worried, she was happy seeing him playing so happily.
  • Maybe she was worrying unnecessarily.
  • After Lunch, Gloria and Daniel get ready as they were going to visit Gloria’s mom.
  • She wanted to visit her the day she returned from Australia but Daniel fall sick and she couldn’t go out.
  • But now Daniel was healthy, so she decided to not waste any more time.
  • The mother and son duo got in the car and they were off for Health Life hospital.
  • Though her mother was in a coma, she wanted Daniel to know her, after all her mother was Daniel’s grandma and it could be his last memory of her.
  • When they entered, her mom’s lifeless body was lying on the bed attached to various tubes.
  • She wiped her tears and walk toward her mom.
  • She picked up Daniel and sit in front of her.
  • “Daniel met your granny. She is my mom.” Gloria introduced her.
  • “Your mom? Why is she sleeping and why are so many things attached to her body? Remove them, she must feel suffocated.” Daniel says and urges in a sad tone.
  • Gloria’s heart warms up.
  • After all, kinship can’t be denied.
  • “She is sick, son. So she needs the support of these. Will you pray for granny, so that she can get well soon?” She asks and Daniel nod instantly.
  • “Don’t worry, Granny, I will pray for you. Get well soon. I will share my toys with you.” he replied in a coaxing tone.
  • “Ok, you wait here for some time. Mom will talk with the doctor by then. Don’t disturb granny.” She warns him and makes her sit on the couch with his Rubik's cube.
  • Daniel was sitting there calmly and when she noticed he won’t create a problem she come out.
  • But the person she met just outside the door made her heart tremble.
  • “Lia,” she called out, but Lia didn’t look surprised at all.
  • “It was really you? You came to visit aunt?” She asked but Gloria hold the doorknob of the room like her life depended on it.
  • She didn’t want Lia or anyone from David’s side to know his existence, let alone his girlfriend or wife whatever Lia was to him now.
